The asthestic of this game and the background sound is actually pretty good.
Go watch September 1998 pretty cool vhs game
Sorry it was September 1999 instead
@@shadowreaper5413 Thanks!
Note: It may be hard to read the two hand-written notes on smaller screens. Here's what they say:
Note 1: Hey I left some hard drives here. Look dude I don’t want you to get in trouble but there were no malfunctions during my shift. I believe that you are doing your job so I won’t say anything but you have to be very careful.
Note 2: I was bored so I took all the new hard drives out of their boxes. You Don’t need to thank me. Do you have the feeling that someone is watching or am I trippin’?
Also, special thanks to Whited Out in the comments section below for translating the binary code that flashes up:
01001101 01111001 00100000 01100011 01101111 01101110 01110011 01100011 01101001 01101111 01110101 01110011 01101110 01100101 01110011 01110011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100001 01110111 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01001001 00100000 01100001 01101101 00100000 01100001 01100110 01110010 01100001 01101001 01100100 = "My consciousness is aware I am afraid"
just wanted to say that this actually reminded of a bit from the MBMBAM podcast where Justin basically pretends to be a cat that wants to go to college and learn how to maintain servers, and I laughed way too hard at my thought "so this is what happened after he learned how to maintain servers"
there's an animatic about this bit if anyone wants to see what exactly I'm talking about: ua-cam.com/video/zKv4WlpeczM/v-deo.html
Hey man,i have an a idea, why you dont play a beta of a horror game on halloween?it could be cool 👍
You know, you go above and beyond. Not only finding these interesting games, playing and consistently uploading them but also translating difficult part. If you ever need to take a break we will understand and we have plenty on your channel to watch if you do take a break. Otherwise, I check your channel every day. You are awesome, doing more than you have to. Thanks a lot
Me: it's witching hour, I must sleep
Alpha: no
Bruh, why were you checking UA-cam when you should've been sleeping?
Me: But I have to go work tomorrow, I need my money so I must sle-
Alpha: *n o .*
True NO is disinterest, guys. Repeated NO is bullshit.
Me: Aight, imma watch some ASMR before sleep
UA-cam: No, you must watch this guys video
Alpha: YES
Me: When you stare at abyss, abyss stares you back
LOL that’s literally me rn, it’s 3:36 am
You probably aware of the trend of horror fishing games, now welcome the trend of server maintenance horror games
Besides this and Signal Simulator, what else are there?
Steelpipe's a good one! ua-cam.com/video/sGC0bhH2VeE/v-deo.html
Server maintenance sounds like a nightmare on its own
The best horror games are SAUNA horror games with the speech being nordic too.
Does no one else suspect that whatever that was probably took control of his body right after the camera "stopped working"?
And its so odd. Its like hes not even aware?
SilentCrow I wouldn’t think of it as unawareness. He can’t be considered either aware or unaware if someone took over control of him.
Maybe it's living in the camera.
That is what I thought too. I was like "welp, it is inside him now"
VHS styled games have got to be one of the most effective and lifelike aesthetics I've ever seen.
This channel deserves to literally be on the top of UA-cam
nailed
I love the atmosphere in this experience! I had a job doing server maintenance the early 2000s that was eerily similar to the setting of this. Night shift, working in solitude. (Minus, of course, creepy monitor messages and faceless figures.) It was not a happy point in my life, and I'm glad to have left for greener pastures when I did.
Dang, the servers could barely go 5 minutes into a new millennium without one failing.
2000: Happens
Every computer ever: *Infernal screams of the souls of the dammed*
This game takes place after New Year, yet it’s quiet and no partying?
Also, it feels like one of those bittersweet realizations. As in, while you go around and check the servers, realize they didn’t crash, but then also realize you are stuck at work with something or someone.
You've clearly never had to work late on new years in an office.
GoodMachines At least the entity was polite enough to control himself and apologise for scaring the player for trying to inhibit his body
@@lzongx6484 True.
Working on New Years can be deathly quiet in some cities.
@@Krystalmyth That's depressing. Like, especially when it's a new MILLENNIUM. That felt like a big deal back in the day... but I guess there were those who were hired to make sure the servers didn't get Y2K'd.
Server room is one of the place that i hate to be alone. I'm working on tech, and I've visited some server farms more than a couple times. Although the modern ones remotely similar (it's super clean and bright) compared to this game, it's still giving you some uneasiness in there with all the super chilly air and servers whirring around you.
The date and time makes this extra spooky. People were freaking out during that day and time irl
The Holy Trinity:
Horror Fishing Games
Lighthouse Horror Maintenance Games
Horror Server Maintenance Games
More like the cursed Trinity
Wait, lighthouse maintenance? Can I get a link?
Am a sucker when it comes to indie (horror) games with VHS filter.
9:40 Me when my teacher talks about Math
The first 2/3’s of this are sort of aimless and overall it’s a little bland, but I don’t actually see that as a flaw. Oddly enough it kinda works in it’s favor. I kinda like this.
Anyone else notice the game takes place on Y2K? Explains a lot....
Also, SKYNET
I love this channel, there's always something new and interesting!
a
Makeing sure a server farm dosent get Y2K'ed late at night while a thing possesses you, *FUN!*
I translated the binary onscreen at 12:54 and it translates to "My consciousness is aware I am afraid." Took me an hour but I saved someone else the hour. I love y'all.
I noticed a trend of horror games takes place in 1990s-early 2000s. Probably because those time was the boom of recording devices, and those horror game take that as an excuse to put in low quality filler, graphic to mimic them primate electronics.
I hate it when my television goes "What"
every friggen hair on the back of my neck went up when I saw it
The "I Am Sorry" at the end is fitting since I wasted 14 minutes watching this.
I think he took the wrong disk drive and the disk its self is an AI that want to become alive
An additional nightmare for server/data center technicians, if working in this field IRL is already kinda stressful. (correct me if I'm wrong)
From what I hear, its mostly nothing, except occasionally when its AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (but not like this kind of ahh).
My friend has the same job as the protagonist. From what I've heard, most of the time you do literally. Just always be in the mornitoring room next to server room is rnough. However, when there really is malfunction it's when shits hit the fan.
9:26 i hate this, when suddenly music starts playing backwars. Gave me the chills 😂😂😂
new horror game pops up
ABG: i dunno, that's cool and all but i don't see the grain tape effect
game: VHS STYLED
ABG: I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
that remind me of the movie Alien 1979 so strong.
When Ripley is in the control room with those alarm noises going on....
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Neither a soul in the entire universe:
Computer: I need a body, I need it now and I need it _boneless_
As a future network administrator, I am: scared.
That was a lot of buildup with no payoff.
Remind me of September 1999
Back when the servers are running NT4 or some variant of UNIX.
And some restart orders are sent through pager..
What does this mean? I'm curious to know.
1:58 lol at the bewildered double take and stepping closer to see if you read it right
9:40 TV be like "What? Can I not play some music in peace?"
This game looks so fucking good. The only thing I’d add is a slight camera shake to really sell the feeling of a handheld camera. Gg devs if you’re reading this
CONTAINMENT BREACH! I REPEAT! CONTAINMENT BREACH!
I keep thinking that the players gonna pick up the papers that he finds. Ig I’m too used to slender the arrival
Sweet. Love the visual and background music there
Kind of makes me wish there was more to this concept then just this. It’s a rather interesting. I could definitely see like a Signal Simulator kind of game with this, but with a longer narrative.
Soooo the AI transformed into weird looking body and then disappeared? Ok.
Kinda doubt the AI took control over player body considering the ending message.
I think it did. That's why the end message downplays the things that happened "weren't visible in person"
It would've been better if he didn't tell us why he was taping this beforehand
12:54 can someone decode this? Lol
That's a great little touch. Thanks for taking the time to decode it! :)
This player has sound location issues. He looked down every single hallway looking for that siren.... it was obvious where it was just listening.
How do you know it's a he and how do you know they weren't listening to music while recording this video? If you know, please do share
Why would text be appearing on his VHS recorder display?
A happy humble's burger barn inspired game?
My ex-wife also came from a farm except instead of servers it was cattle
Looks weird when you see yourself on the camera, it looks like the main characters holding a gun in that stance.
You know, when ur playing a horror game with 60 fps ur fuck up
Nice, a Y2K event.
Could it be? A font that neatly imitates handwriting but is clearly legible?
Aaaand its undone by the unpickable walls of text and the bright blue handwriting.
the binary at 12:54 says "My consciousness is aware. I am afraid"
At least the ghoul apologiesed at the end
Ya know, not to mess things up and pisses everyone off, but am I the only one that thinks light is the bane of all evil. Like, turn on the switch.
@Mialisus I am so sorry if I somehow sounds rude to you but where is this going? I was talking about turning on the lights in horror movie. Sorry if I sound rude.
@@themongothatbongoed he's having a brain overdrive maybe, don't bother
@@youcanpunchmeintheface I had no idea what just happened. :0
@Mialisus But even if I do, I don't think I'll have anything to do with what I just said. Care to explain to me or you want to leave me hangin'? :D
@Mialisus Hello? Are you still gonna leave me hanging? I'm lonely here... :|
This game remain me September 1999
december?
edit: lmao its a game im an idiot
Etika played that game, It's somehow disturbing...
So this is what happens with Y2K
Good video dude
There was flat screen LED in 2000?? 🤔🤔🤔
this reminds me a bit of signal simulator
When the time of the 2000, everything went silent, no sound nothing then everything when back to normal
How is it that we can get two sever maintenance horror game in like, a month?
Just curious are all these games on steam?
Why does this looks so real
I really love vhs horror
Worst datacenter EVER.
It’s good, love the atmosphere but it felt a bit anticlimactic in the end to me. :/
Как называется жанр стилизованных под vhs хорроров, вроде этой видеоигры?
9:41
*what*
*how*
Alpha Beta Gamer is a Teletubby
That ghost was kinda hot though.
You wouldn't get the vertical scrolling you see here on an LCD panel like that... but not bad. Also 2000 would have been a bit grainy, rather than just interpolated. Seems like they're going for an 80s camcorder look rather than an early digital look.
Bruh just turn on the lights
A game about Y2K.
667 > Pain > Max Payne reference? Neighbor of the Beast?
1:41 human resources departement? Arknights? Rhodes Island?
What
Hmm 6 likes With one view interesting
First
boyo.
i could tell you've given this a once over before playing through.
stop the lies.
This was so stupid.
no sound, lame and not a horror game at all
Boring and anticlimactic..
