    Boogsie is probably the greatest pannist on the planet. His scatting coincides with his lines, which proves that he is HEARING his solos in his HEAD and not just playing a bunch of notes. RESPECT to you sir. NUFF RESPECT!!

    The greatest to ever hold a pair of pan sticks! The Parker of the Pan! I dare anyone to name anyone even remote close to Boogsie. There will never be another Sharpe! I respect the younger ones coming but its a different time. He never had any formal training and is playing things some of us can't even imagine!

    First of all, those that have ever seen Boogsie play from angry or anguished frame of mind, can tell that he was just "a little excited"... This isn't Boogsie being Aggressive. He's a peculiar idiom to understand at times. In this video he's been more playful than anything else

    Beating pan and playing pan is not the same.

      Amén to that.. While he is a excellent pan player I wouldn't say he the greatest, his touch is not so delicate to the instrument.. Robert Greenidge, Andy Norel are pan players very authentic in their delivery..All due respect to Mr. Sharpe I have to hold my ears at times when he "beating pan".

    Never said he was perfect I, actually agree that he ain't perfect and yes of course people have the right to criticise but the reason for my explicit post is that every pannist should not have to play smooth or soothing to receive the nod of approval for they may suffer the fate of sameness...Boogsie wants the listener to HEAR every single difficult note he plays not for one single note to be lost to overtones..it ain't easy to play what he plays & how he plays it softly....

    Yes mr SHARPE I’m a JIT SAMAROO fanatic, but KUDOS to you sirrrrrrrrrr. Maybe ANDY Narell could take NOTE of a PAN MASTER

    I played with him in the Bay Area in the
    80s...someone called him Charlie Parker of the Steel Pan...I appreciate what they were trying to say but its a mislead...no one compares to this cat on STEEL PAN less alone any other instrument...he's an original...the BOOGSEY SHARPE of the Steel Pan

  • @Trintalk
    @Trintalk 15 років тому

    Yes I do believe Boogsie needs to find a tuner to produce a special Pan to meet his special needs.... a pan that can stand up to his strength and not buckle under it...

    ...AND one other thing at 4:29 the bass player and keys changed (played the last 4 chords of song) which made him get mad or upset. this culminated in the rest of his solo having so much more tension, what is this FESTIVAL called? the MOODS OF PAN. so STOP HATING, you make me hate your very existence for the negative energy you put on hear.

    They said Andy Narell is a musician and Boogsie is a pannist! How myopic that statement is! So then il ask you to define a musician and a pannist and then differentiate! Andy Narell cannot even be mentioned in the same sentence as boogsie,two completely different class! Boogsie is more of a musician than Andy Narell will ever be! A mater of fact Andy Narell has to pass through so much other pannists/musicians before he even approaches boogsie.

    There we go again comparing musicians. Andy and Boogsie represent different schools of pan playing. You don't compare Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. Andy and Boogsie are friends. He nevrr claimed to be the best.

    Tone of the pan could and should be more sweeter. The pans sound like old time pans
    sounded in the late 40's. Some of the notes
    sounded like there was no rubber on the sticks. Boogsie, Get a new set of drums. Tahzann!

    THEN you would be in the position he is in as the greatest Steel Pan representative in the WORLD TODAY, that means you would be sitting in his seat or throne. until then SHUT UP. i think what makes it worse is some of you are Trinidadian as well. he's face is set cos he's not happy with one or two people in band, they didn't stay on the vamp when instructed to,

    it is clear to me that this is just a bad hair day for the great one you hypocrites stop pretending like this is such a great boogsie performance, you can see his concerned face, from the get go,i hope he will learn to walk with his own instrument , and do a proper mic check next time, i have been there, it is no picnic,

  • @TheBardapple
    @TheBardapple 14 років тому

    this horrible performance, besides the wind howling through the mics, that is one of the worst rolling I have heard, the pan no comments, as far as his scatting some of his notes does not match his snging and he is not playing the phrases that he is singing acurately, this video should be pulled because since that boogsie has done thousands times better performancesup till late last year , he might have been high, and he definetely getting old to think of going on stage with a pan like that,
