every episode of this podcast needs to be in video form on youtube. right now. i will pay good money for this.
Adding a camera to the mix can change the atmosphere, audio only makes it easier for host/guests to relax and just focus on the conversation, which is what the podcast format is all about. Even if you think about Conan himself, whenever he has a camera on him he is always trying to do some visual comedy and put on a show. In the podcast, not being able to do that allows him to be more human and any comedy he does has to be verbal. That's what makes it so great and different from his normal show.

@@Dielawn69 They have video since they started using zoom due to the pandemic, but they only post these before/after chat segments, they aren't posting the interview which is the main part of the podcast.
Edit: This one may have been a bonus fan episode, I think they post those sometimes too.

So Conan is supposed to not be the star of his own podcast lol? He legit gives them tons of time to shine.

They should really bring back Clueless gamer(with just Conan and Aaron) and Fan corrections. They were the funniest segments in the show.
I agree. I watched a bit of Sonja (omgitsfirefox) back in the day when she played a lot of CSGO and she was decently entertaining. But she just can't hang with Conan and was a pretty loor addition. She was clearly chosen because she is a big twitch streamer and not because she actually worked well with Conan.

Sona and Conan knew just how to save the awkwardly confrontational energy, while Matt was just shocked, look at his face lol.
I think its fine that Merin was too much, she wanted a banter interaction so she came prepared. did i experience a 2nd hand embarrassment? Yes but Conan handled it beautifully and it ended on a good note

Actually, it didn't... This was the shortest fan interview in the history of this segment of the podcast, usually every single fan interaction would last 20 odd minutes... From which they usually cut it down to 8 or 9 minutes (sometimes they even put the whole thing up) for UA-cam whereas this was just around 9 minutes from which they cut it down to these 5 minutes. If you listen to the actual episode with this rude person you'll find that Conan subtly rushed it to finish as a result they even had another fan talking to him (the only time thats happened so far so early in a conversation) soon after to fill the odd minutes. There had been two fans talking back to back in these segments where the flow was more organic. This ended rather abruptly.
Anyone who is rude to Conan, is automatically on my hate list.

I appreciate she was trying to be memorable but she was throwing those fast balls right at his head. And isn’t it getting a bit tired making fun of older people for lack of technical skills? I actually disliked this fan more than the others. It felt like she was trying to show off her intelligence too much. And it was so obvious that Conan wasn't feeling it.

Same! Don’t get why all the comments are praising her. Just because Conan can find the humor in everything and be a gracious host, doesn’t mean she doesn’t come off as rude. She’s new and these folks are giving her time on their platform, she can show some respect as she warms up to them and maybe crack a joke later. Coming out swinging leaves a bad taste.

IMO she could have just spelled her name instead of spelling it after saying "the way that it's spelled on the screen". Conan said he missed how her name is spelled on the screen because he couldn't see her and her name on the screen at that moment that it showed. Something like that can happen, not a big deal. Also, some older people aren't great with technology, so helping them out is nice.
I originally heard this segment on Spotify and now seeing it on UA-cam doesn’t change my first impression of this “fan,” which is, she seemed as if she had been waiting to put Conan in his place regarding her perception of Conan’s treatment of Sona and Matt. Even when Conan teases the guest, he will follow with a compliment, in addition to expressing his pleasure meeting them. The irony is that she was calling out Conan regarding his “narcissism,” yet she opens up with “I thought we were going to talk about me.” Conan doesn’t take himself seriously, nor do Sona and Matt take him seriously. A jab, or two would have been ok, but her continued insults of Conan were a bit much.
THAT last sentence captured it. She showed she was smart and quick, if not particularly clever, with the first clap.

I really really disliked Merin. I know she was trying to be funny, but she was trying way too hard and just came across as rude and mean-spirited. Conan handled like a pro but it was definitely not pleasant to listen to. I’ve liked all the other fans that have been featured though!
I disagree. Conan roasts people in the same way all the time, so Merin was simply giving him a dose of his own medicine. It's VERY obvious that she was being playful and speaking on his wavelength.

She is definitely smart, they talk about her Fulbright scholarship but she’s definitely missing the humor gene. Just listen to his podcast with Kevin Heart and Kevin made a great point in comedy, know when to be in the spotlight and know when to be in the back supportive. Issue here, she came out strong and funny. But kept going for the spotlight instead of giving conan a chance to react back or match her comedy.

She's good with keeping the character of making the CEO/Comedian Chief feel like a douche, which Conan thrives on, but she didn't give him time to dish it back nor did she attempt to reveal (even if it's obvious) it's a joke. But then again, this is a clip, maybe at the end of the discussion she does the whole, "I'm a huge fan, thank you for letting me be here".

This was so cringy and try-hard. I get that this podcast is meant to be humourous and that Conan can take a jab or two but the vibe was just weird here and all the funny was comming from Sona and Conan. The initial comment about her name was quick and funny, I'll give her that, but after that she just kept on attacking over and over again and it's tryhard because he's not actually her friend so roasting him to his face as a stranger and a geust when he didnt expect her too is just odd. This episode was hilarious. Hearing the audio first then seeing the video now is even better. A lot of sensitive snowflake fans in the comments. Conan is the master of self-deprecating humour and obviously knew right away where Merin was going with things, paving the way for some light-hearted banter. People roast Conan all the time because it brings out the best in him.
Basically, Conan was made into an Irish Kabob the whole time.
