Absolutely fantastic. The smoke as The Earl emerges from the brick bridge is terrific and catching the doppler on the prolonged whistle is amazing. That's Didcot for you. Thanks for the video.
Thanks again Austin, the weather was atrocious and so played safe at Didcot. The Earl never fails to impress, and has become a favourite of mine just by seeing her this weekend.
Thanks Andy, it was fantastic to stand there and have a Castle thunder through. I remember 70013 passing through on a light engine movement in 2009 with huge whistles between 70013, 5322 and one of the Pannier tanks. Hope this continues!
Brilliant shot there, I was going to see her today but my volunteering work at Pendon Museum said otherwise and so unfortunately I missed her. I'll just have to wait for the next time she's along my patch.
Great video, i remember the A4s going through Hornsey station as a young trainspotter (getting up to mischief) they used to go some, nothing like a steam loco, this one is steamed up some.
Thank you Brian for your comment. Yes, there were very few around, it got to a point when I thought it had passed through already (quite something considering I arrived 25 minutes before 5043 was due). I think it was down to the rain, I was tempted not to go to be honest, but thought it would be pretty spectacular with the smoke. Good luck with the double header, the weather looks cold but dry. I will look out for your video.
Brilliant shot James, bet your glad I was nowhere around :-) Didcot looked very 'quiet' compared to Exeter on Saturday, looks like you had plenty of space to set up & got a great result!! I need to get up early this Saturday to try for 5043 & 4965 heading to Llandudno but that could also be weather dependent..... fingers crossed!
Good to see the Earl going full whack past its sister shed. Ive found all GWR steamers give a prolonged whistle past didcot. Nice to see the comaradery.
Thank you, Didcot is a location which I adore, and I would love to visit more often. Sadly, I cannot afford to travel that far every few weeks. I hope there are more opportunities to film GWR steam at Didcot in the near future.
Thanks Andy for commenting. Ah that's a shame. Sadly, I can't see that happening for quite a while. VT have quite a few tours up in the north in the future, and have heard little in the way of tours down this way. Hopefully, we can see 5043 again in the near future.
Thanks Andrew, a great memory indeed! Hope you have a good time on the GB6 - I should be out for the first two days, so will hopefully see you around at some stage.
do you imagine being a little kid there at the moment? "but mommy i want to ride the steam train!!! no fair!!! why didnt it stop for us??" heck even as an adult id probably think the same! :D why didnt it stop? i want to ride a steam train!! :D

Absolutely epic shot James, the speed, the smoke & the whistle! That's going straight into my favourites. One of your best shots yet =)
Thank you, the GBV really has seen some terrific performances. We are fortunate that UA-cam has so many good videographers.

Fabulous video pure GWR power and performance .Cheers for sharing this masterpiece ..Andre..
Brilliant, great to see these old steamers thundering through stations.
Thank you very much Kristian, it left me with a huge smile on my face, and have not stopped watching it since yesterday :)
Their really is something rather special about a steam engine storming through a railway station. Goosebumps time.

The whistle on pass is so atmospheric, I love it.
My favourite steam loco ,nothing like a steamer flat chat. Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think I am waving at you, from the door of the 5th coach.

Thanks a lot Barry. It sure was a great sound.
One of many fine clips of the 'Great Britain V' this last week.
Good to see the Earl going full whack past its sister shed.

Thanks Andre. I must admit, before I started filming properly, I was not a fan of the GWR, but the two Kings and 5043 have really changed my opinion.
Oooofff I love that whistle.
