He is precious. I saw him and interacted with him for about a week after he fledged. The last time I saw him, he was way up high in a tree. That was 10 days after he fledged. My husband saw him and his mom the other day. She was gliding in an open space from one tree to another. Ollie was behind her, and he said Ollie was flapping quite a bit more...not really gliding yet.
Thank you, I'll never get to experience the baby owl like you did, but just seeing him snuggle with you was great! I adore owls, they are such a lovely creature to behold.
Unless you are raising one from birth its very unlikely that petting them will disturb their wildlife significantly, other than making them perhaps a bit less wary of humans.
@@WralthChardiceVideo Correct! Why i would never want them as pets. Wildlife is wildlife, they are to be enjoyed to be watched in nature where they belong. And we need to show our love to hem by protecting their habitat.
That is so awesome ! Birds can be so loving and caring ... they are so smart. You are lucky ! I have a female Eclectus as a friend and pet, and she loves to snuggle and cuddle too ! I hope your friend comes back to visit you often ... ;))
Thanks for posting the video. To see the baby acting so sweet and intimate with you shows the level of emotion these animals have. That interaction has to be priceless.
Wow! That is just so precious! I want so bad to live in the country...with lots of grass & trees & barns & BARN OWLS!!! Lol...thanks for sharing this precious encounter with God's beautiful creation!
Beautiful video. Loved watching how the two of you bonded through touch and sound. Amazing how the owl trusted you and the two of you spent hours together. Hoping someday I get to the same!
You should put up an "owl cam" when the parents are there so people can see them from egg to hatch to maturity. If you are into farming and/or animals, you may also want to post videos on that too. Thanks so much for sharing this video! ❤
Ollie is cute and sweet as always in this video. Now that he's fledged and is flying around with his mother, does he still recognize you? He starts trying to nuzzle under your arm at 3:57 because baby birds like to snuggle under their mother's wing, and he thinks your arm is your wing!
How lucky you are 2 hold such a beautiful bird like that. It's absolutely beautiful! This species of owl tend 2 be very loving. Has he ever come back 2 visit you again?
I haven't seen him except for a few weeks after he left the nest. They are territorial so the hen runs them out of her territory. Coyotes and fire ants have diminished their source of food. The hen comes back every year.
Did momma come back 2013 and 2014? Your last response was 2 years ago. Curious. What a gift and wonderful experience you had with the owlet...and momma.
Pat Granneman Yes, she has come back every year since. Last year she had 3. This year 2. :) We see her all the time. I hung a laundry basket up for her two years ago.
I think the GHOwl is the most beautiful owl... and loving. She had a comfy nesting arrangement in that laundry basket. Lucky you to have that experience
Ita Rachmawati He’s a baby Great Horned Owl. You can see the tufts begging to grow slightly off the top on each side of his head [at around 3:25-3:28 of the video].
A grown great horn’s set facial markings make it appear embarrassed by its earlier behaviour. So keep imagining what they look like okay now add a.3 quarter head spin. A caption or thought bubble would say, ... Not me I never ever cuddled with a person How dare you! I do not resemble that accusation. You have the wrong owl
You shouldn't be touching anything but his head. Touching the body and wings can greatly affect his ability to fly. You are actually harming him. Please stop. I'm sure it's hard, he's so beautiful. But put his welfare first.
Sorry, hun. It wasn't possible to capture this interaction with anyone else present. This was taken before selfie sticks and $1,000 iphones. If there had been any kind of "cameraman", Ollie would have been bug eyed and snapping at them.

Owls are generally so much more affectionate than other birds of prey =)
Thank you, I'll never get to experience the baby owl like you did, but just seeing him snuggle with you was great! I adore owls, they are such a lovely creature to behold.
Best of both worlds. You get to bond with an owl but he's still flying free at your farm. Awesome!
I'm so jealous i want to pet one so bad. As long as it wont disturb their nature or wild life. They are such amazing creatures.

Good to know that he is learning how to pay his rent. I hope you can post a video of him interacting with you when he's fully grown.

You’re so blessed with God’s beautiful creations!
it must be so cool to have an animal come to you like that.
Your Furby is very lifelike...
😉
Beauty thy name is Owl

Please post some more owl! They seem to always love you!
They have impeccable vision and hearing

+Jop3lius, ah that makes sense! Cool. In still going to call it love nibbles though! It's cuter! Lol
+Julie Von Hedrich, yes, it most certainly is! 😊
What a sweet baby
Omg...wish I had this in my barn!
I am amazed to read that it is a wild owl. You must have some way about you. So jealous :-)

What state?
I love you, super, happiness ❤️🦉👍🏻
Awe such a great video!!! Such an adorable 🦉 owlet owl!!! Do you have any updates on the lil guy/girl? Have u seen the baby since?
Pretty cool, I've raised owls. When it became an adult , would it let you approach it .
That’s adorable
i'm so jealous!
Great Horned Owls were my first stargazing companions. Unfortunately their skunk diet woke me up later in the night.
so cute owl... what's named of kind

How did you get the momma to trust you with her babies?
No mouse problem here.
Love bites 🙌
3:48 Oh my goodness, those claws. I'd just bite my lip and let the little one do the thing.
VICIOUS!!!
Action starts at 1:49
What did u feed him? Mice? Chic? Was he abandoned or did mom feed it?
How do you feed it? They eat half digested mice, don't they?
It's mom fed it. :)
Awwwww
Nice vid! How did you get a wild owl interact with you when it's raised by the mom?
They live in the hay barn and we go in there every day. They know us.
i have the same shirt!
Are they still hanging around? :)
The hen and her mate are. They run their offspring out of their territory when they are grown.
That owl will be bringing you mice for years to come.
Where is this?
Central Texas
Why do owls remind me of cats.
CUDDLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry guess I should have read caption first....
Women are so perfect with animals... I'm a guy but guys are a bit rough clueless finger in the eye petting the animals etc
Lucky old me possesing as I do a light and delicate touch! :)
fuzzy

Thank you, he fledged just fine and I saw him fly many times in the weeks after he left the nest.
You won’t hurt a bird if you touch their wings gently. Or any other part of them. How do you think bird vets examine them?
Worst cameraman ever.
