His family belonged from Khoja sect, earlier Hindus who had converted to Islam centuries before and were followers of Agha Khan. Although born in a Khoja family who were disciples of Agha Khan, Jinnah moved towards the Sunni sect early in life. He was a firm Sunni Muslim till the end of his life.
