What were your thoughts on the game?
Disappointed… the OL and DL played extremely poorly
Thought we could hang our hat on this defense and the run game. Go listen to Brent Key and h.king's pregame interviews. GT came to win a football game and nothing else.
It feels like the line of scrimmage was overestimated in camp, but that may not be the case.
I'm curious how much of a good time certain segment groups had in Ireland. It sure felt like 1 team came to win a football game and nothing else.

It was a rough game. To say the least. We definitely need better recruiting and development. Especially with defense. And our offensive line was getting smoked. Keep climbing still and don't give up! Go Seminoles! Hopefully big changes are coming to the coaching staff soon because our Proud Seminoles are more capable than what they showed in Ireland.
I also think that a different QB needs a chance in the next game. A few series at least. I respectfully believe that DJ is a good guy, but idk how he will make it to the NFL.
If FSU doesnt trust the passing game while trying to run the ball with GT putting 8 and 9 in the box to stop the run why even get DJ? Why no just start Glenn

Warchant, Double Fries No Slaw, and every other FSU media outlet sold us a dream. They made this team sound better than what they really were. Us as fans have to start adopting the “believe it when we see it” type of mentality going forward because they have to hype the team up for subscriptions and ad revenue. We had a good run last year but we are in rebuilding mode. We will drop a few more games this season so just be prepared and take what the media says with a grain of salt. Go Noles!
we were in wait and see mode in 20 and 21 then 2022 when we beat LSU and went 4-0 the fans got out of the mode and the hype was real then the loses came but then we ended the season 10-3, then 13-1, and now its calm down and yes its wait and see mode but the other youtube channels didnt say we were gunna be undefeated and such, i mean i was saying im ok with 10-2 but it honestly looks like a 8-4 kind of season but we may get going in the next game, i mean look at BC last year, we didnt play with toughness and heart as much but we just had enough to win and hold on and we were worried about clemson and then we did pretty good but won vs clemson. so

2 things stood out (of many things):
1. Arrogant gameplan by Mike Norvell, with a hard headed mentality (rare for him)

Oh stop acting like FSU gave this one away. GT gave up two long fourth down conversions by unnecessarily sending a delayed safety blitz. FSU really got lucky to score that late touchdown and then GT took the ball with almost 7 minutes left and burned all the clock they wanted to in order to win. GT was in control after FSU's first drive. The game wasn't really as close as the final score indicates. FSU got beat by a better team.

@@jamesmiller6829 GT's offense was one of the best in the nation last year and basically returned everyone except the TE who got injured just before the season. GT probably has the best OL in the ACC or close to it. On defense, bringing in Tyler Santucci as DC cannot be understated along with returning most of their best players. He had Duke performing as one of the best in the country as well.
FSU on the other hand is replacing most of their production last year and obviously took a step down at QB. FSU is still probably a 9 win team, but they're nowhere close to the team they were before JT went down last year.
The outcome of this game was very predictable and confirmed what I thought going into the season. GT has a really tough schedule so the end of season win total may not be better than FSU's but I think they're simply the better team overall and win this game 7/10 times.
@somerandomguy706 I disagree. They played better today, but I think the offense didn't really take off until DJ finally started pushing the ball down field. GT played as well as they could, FSU didn't. I give GT full credit they outcoached FSU today, but if we played each other 10 times GT wins 3 imo

Georgia Tech was also on the road. The offensive and defensive lines for Georgia tech. Were just better. Many time's the Florida state defensive line was pushed off the line
Pretty disappointed by the lack of adjustments on both sides of the ball. It also felt like the team was just playing as if "we're more talented so we'll get the W". This felt very unlike a Norvell coached team. Gonna be a weird season if every game looks like this.

We were told Norvell had plays schemed up that would highlight their advantages on the offensive line and in the backfield. Didn't see it. And this "veteran" offensive line group that supposedly had clear upgrades at guard was pushed around. Where's the lie? They also said anything under 10 wins would be a disappointment. 8 was NEVER the standard.

They played like this almost every game last year where they were expected to be dominant. Look at Boston College and it took Jordan getting his leg broke trying to do too much to fire them up in the North Alabama game.

I do not consider the thousands and thousands of dollars I have donated to this program a waste of money. Three national championships, 16 ACC championships, three Heisman trophy winners, hundreds of NFL players, the greatest coach college football has ever seen, and the development and growth of one of the most iconic brands in the nation.... To be a waste of money.
Nor do I consider the current team to be a waste of money. I have absolute confidence in Mike Norvell and this 2024 team.
I believe they will make the necessary adjustments to bring a successful season to this program. It may not be the season that all of you unrealistically hoped for But, will be extremely important and to the development of next season and 2026.

That's a Jimbo Fisher 2016 loss to GA Tech. Norvell proved what a rookie he is again today. Clock management really isn't that hard to understand. Calling the same plays over and over again like insanity set in too. Lot of people have question marks about Norvell's late game play calling. A minute to go and run the ball for 4 yards and call a timeout? Not making an opponent use their timeouts? Norvell looked like al first-year coach today.

It’s obvious fsu didn’t replace all the nfl talent they lost last year. It is one of the disadvantages of prioritizing portal recruiting and not highschool recruiting.

If you are as old as me you might remember when Weinke threw 6 INTs and FSU lost at home to NC State. That season, and Weinke's career, didn't turn out so badly. The HUGE difference is that the 90s teams were stacked with AAs and blue chippers 2-deep. If you want lasting success you need to build from the ground up with guys that bleed Garnet and Gold.

"It's tough to win on the road." You guys are just making excuses. This was not a road game. It was a neutral site game in which FSU had a decisive crowd advantage.
As FSU fans, you ask yourself numerous questions as to how this loss happened, but ignore the obvious.
There was no basis for the #10 preseason ranking and being named the favorite to win the ACC given multiple players, including transfers, having little to no college game experience.
The simple truth is that team isn't as good as they were hyped up to be. All the accolades were built on the 2023 season, where a majority of those impact players graduated and/or moved on to the NFL. GT was better and more physical in the trenches. That's where the game was won.
So if we're pointing out the obvious that we were misled by the people at warchant about how good this team was were hate Watchers. so if you pay for a subscription, you have no right to expect the truth well, at least now we know. Think about the people who spent thousands and thousands of dollars to go to Ireland in this crappy economy because they thought we had a good team and a chance to win when we didn't.

After reflecting on it, I'm not moved by this loss. Florida State didn't play inspired, they played as if they were gonna win simply by showing up. They didn't take GT serious and therefore got a nice reality check. They'll look different going forward.

Yea that would make sense for the first half. But once we saw like hey this team isn't just going to roll over for us, we should have gotten serious!! The fact we never got serious shows that this team couldn't. Both sides of the ball in the trenches got bullied. If they were the real deal they should have been able to turn things around at some point. But they never did. Which makes me think they can't. And what we saw today is what they are
In the past two games .. Florida State is 0 - 2.. and have been outscored by a combined total of 63 points.. and the Florida State defense have given up 87 points - in the past two games..

This defensive line is what they were today. They showed that they couldn’t stop Georgia in the bowl game and they showed it again today against Georgia Tech. There is no way to fix that. Offense is all on Norvell not passing the ball over the middle and not opening up the playbook. It’s also time to see the good freshmen WRs because these guys aren’t cutting it.
I don’t think the receivers did that bad. GT couldn’t stop the slant and we should have kept killing them with it because of the man coverage. At one point they didn’t even have a safety. Offensive coaching killed us today. GT made adjustments and we did nothing to make them pay. The defense was way more alarming to me. We are going to see the same thing from BC.
This season is up to Mike. If he calls games like this its over. The play calling handicapped DJ all day. Time to stop showing loyalty to players that aren't it. Open the playbook and findout what you have. It can't get worse than what we saw today.
Jordan Travis helped Norvell look good. Now it's time to see how good of a coach Norvell is. Busted plays on offense was a big part of fsu success with Travis as Quarterback
Wow. 100% fact! JT was unreal at times running and eluding tacklers. Remember the Florida game in 22? It was one of the most insane games I've ever watched at Doak and Jordan won that game by running the ball. If you don't have a mobile QB who can take off and get a first down or break open a big play, you are done! DJ ain't it!!

I see you must've started watching FSU football in 2022, not Travis first year at FSU in 2019 when he couldn't throw a forward pass and the team was getting blown out by worse teams. James Blackman started over Travis that year smh 🤦

I think GT is just better than y’all think. The score was actually closer than what was played on the field. GT dominated in almost every aspect of the game. You mention reasons FSU kinda gave the game away but lets not forget about the fantom PI that set up a TD for FSU. Those things go both way and mistakes were made from both teams. GT was just the better team.

Just saw a stat that GT is 5-1against FSU during past 6 regular season games...
Also...a famous grandmaster (chess) stated "I have never beaten a well man". Listening to this seems to leave out just how good of an offense GT has. Gave Uga the best regular season game last year and almost everyone returned. Could just be FSU is not top 10 and GT is simply better than most FSU fans gave credit. See what Saban said before game...See what Norvell said post game... 2 good teams even if neither is great. Good game overall that someone had to come out short on.
I hate a terrible feeling when Kam Davis dropped that pass. I know he is a rookie and might have to nerves, so I kinda overlooked it. BUT the failure to jump on that fumble to secure the possession was the play that sealed it for me. I just knew that was the start of something very bad.
Coaches showed that they didn’t trust the QB and WRs…. Defensively the coaches were to conservative which allowed GTECH the opportunity to settle down and build confidence. They had ample time to allow all their plays to develop but they on the other hand attacked our offense all game.
That has always been my issue with the defense, why are we not more aggressive and attacking more.
GT won the line of scrimmage... on both sides of the ball... they were better prepared, they played more together as a team, and delivered the blow w/ a punch first mentality. It's about winning at the point of attack... holding blocks and shedding them. Nothing to do but work and get better. Go Noles!
Football is won in the trenches(offensive line and defensive line). FSU lost the game in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

As someone who has no horse in this race, I am glad to see whining on a national level. One of them just said 'player for player Florida State is a better football team, Georgia Tech just outplayed them'. WHAT. LOL. Then he said it was hard to win a road game, weren't they both on the road. I was waiting for him to blame the selection committee from last year. Maybe the better team won, as crazy as that sounds. In the game I saw Georgia Tech was more physical.
Losing shouldn't have even been an option. Not only that, what is it about this team that seems like they are always trying to barely win.

The defense was extremely disappointing. Adjustments could have been made but they kicked our butt. I saw on multiple occasions DTs driven back 5 yards from the line of scrimmage.
The offense was too conservative on play calls. DJ proved to me he wasn’t afraid to go make it happen. Maybe we will see more shots downfield especially when Hakeem comes back.
Overall though the hype for the defense was just deflating. I was expecting production like verse and the others from last year and it was night and day. You know how to stop all those smoke and jet sweep motions by dline penetration and that flat out didn’t happen.
Either the D ignored everything their coaches taught them or GT found us in the worst scheme every other play. I didnt like the gameplan of not throwing the ball forward.
FSU lost 5 key offensive players to the NFL…Also lost 8 starting defensive players to the NFL… Georgia Tech had all their players coming back with a mature team in a mature system. We were overrated and GT were underrated. We still have time!!! Go NOLES!!!
People hating on norvell is insane. He took us to 13-0 after being one of the worst programs in football. He has made mistakes but our fan base is so soft. Bro it’s one game in one season chill out !
For real, cant expect perfection, this is likely a rebuilding year. I mean we lost to Wake 2 years ago and still had a good season.
Tentative playcalling is reason for criticism. No way around that.

Last year was a freak year. Florida State got lucky in multiple games. Clemson whipped FSU's ass and they were down. They just made dumb mistakes.

GD, I keep making this point and no one in the Media picks up on it: DJU was 8th in the country last year in Yards per Completion (14.66) - a full yard further than Caleb Williams. 8th!! Downfield, pro-style passing was OSU's passing persona, and DJU was a modest 43rd in Passer Rating (2 spots behind Cam Ward) as OSU relied on its ground game more. But still, it's not like the kid can't throw it downfield. They didn't do it at Clemson because he had absolutely no receivers (check the rosters), and his OL stunk (they're on their 3rd OL Coach since). It looks like FSU has the same problem now.
GTs offense is a well oiled machine. It just is. Their qb was the difference imho plus our defense is a work in progress. This game was like many games last season (i.e. conservative), but somebody would make a big play. DJU looked pretty decent. Fuller will be blitzing more next week (hopefully). Plus they will have to open up the offense by necessity. We just got to play hard and smart against BC. Remember, it will be their 1st game next week. So much whining and trolling. 😊

This was always coming. FSU fans and Podcasters spoke as experts, but looked at GT'S records the last few years and ignored the steady improvement under Coach Key, the offense last year, and the defensive changes this year. GT fans were not surprised. FSU is not a much better team the GT. You'll see.

GT defensive line was completely replaced with players from the portal. GT fixed what was broken last season, and brought back everyone that was really good. It was the perfect storm. Norvell called a terrible game. He was too focused on rotating players on both sides of the ball. You can’t do that with a new team, especially with a new QB. He was playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

Great points about so many people brought in and Lucas having early success and never seeing him again. We have so many players we've been hearing about the past several months and no one can really tell me who the starters are even if they started yesterday. I know that might not make much sense but Norvell is trying to play EVERYONE. Give me some 1s and 2s and let's play.
It felt like a lot of games last year. Great first drive script and then doing a complete 180. No motion, no disguise. And we got whipped on both sides of the trenches. Besides two bomb FGs and two long 4th down conversions we aren't even in this game.

Now that I have had time to cool down. The D -line surprised me and how they really did not get any penetration. The play seemed really closed and some of the shots taken down field were very little and not very accurate. Obviously this loss sucks but its not the end of the season I did not expect to go undefeated. Let keep our heads up and Lets Go Noles.
I personally am sad with what I saw from Darrel Jackson and farmer …. Hell even Peyton and jones jr …. I went back and re watched every play on defense … zero push from the d line ! They just got beat off the ball constantly … hopefully they watch that and realize what they were doing wrong

I think our fan base is so scared to be bad again, and that we willl revert to a poverty fsu. I don’t believe that. I think there is total buy in to this football team and every athletic department here at fsu!!
