    I am huge fan of both April bit also Kurasu Kyoto. They got exactly opposite tasting reviews in this comparison... interesting

    I'm curious, how comparable is the change in flavor going from Ceramic>Plastic in the Oragami brewer vs the April brewer? As in, does the flavor change in the same way?
    Also will the plastic version be going for sale on your website?

    Definitely not looking as nice compared to the original ceramic version. The white thickness of the porcelain is so much more beautiful.

    flow rate is slow, i think, is because kalita wave filter is used here. because the filter is perfectly matching the shape of the brewer, there is no space for air to escape and for water to pass and drip. I think a v60 filter paper will be much better

      I have found two coffee shops in Athens where Origami in use on the bar and on sale.
      - Samba
      - Roosters
      I asked of filter papers. Advised use origami filter papers or V60, but not Kalia for reasons you state.

    Do you know of any reason why origami wouldn't follow the approach you took with the april brewer and use some holes in the part that rests on the cup to alleviate the under-pressure?

      Not sure. But it's also not suitable to do for all style of brewing.

    May i ask why you didnt bloom the coffee?

      from what I know, in April they pre grind their coffee usually a day before, so that the 'degassing' is done naturally.
      so when they brew, they can go straight into the extraction phase without worrying about blooming

    Hello. Thanks for the great review and sharing your knowledge. You have a comandante c40 grinder. What grind do you use in the recipe? how many clicks? What is your most delicious origami funnel recipe?

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching. We don't brew with the C40 that much. But if we do we are often between 27 - 32 clicks for a 12g dose to 200g of water.

      @@coffeewithapril Thanks for the quick response. In the video in the recipe, what coffee grind did you use?

      @@coffeewithapril In your recipe you give a coffee draft of 2:20-2:40, but with a grind of 25 on a comandante c40, the draft is 1:40. And if I increase the grind to 27-30, then the strait will decrease even more! What am I doing wrong? I have coffee Kenya, light roast 05/05/2023.

      @@rykmax You most likely just have an comandate grinder that is different from ours. They are not all the same. That's why you should focus more on replicating the total brew time, rather than the grind size you need to get there.

    • @rykmax
      @rykmax Рік тому

      @@coffeewithapril Apparently it is, but you need to understand the starting point of grinding. At 27 clicks, my time was further reduced. What kind of grinder do you usually use and at what grinding values, it can be determined this way. I obviously need to reduce the grind.

    Origami is the fastest as a conical dripper with the most air flow. Im not sure why you want plastic as it has a very fast draw down with minimum contact with the filter.

    No no no, plastic origami, please no.
    The beauty of origami is that it is ceramic.
    We should be moving away from plastic, especially where plastic is not necessary.

      plastic isn't necessarily a bad thing in a reusable context, and in this case, the plastic version might last longer than the ceramic.

      Plastic is always bad. It supports the oil and gas industry which is destroying the planet.
      There are some uses where plastic is necessary.
      This is a trivial use of plastic.
      A ceramic Origami is not only the functionality, it is the aesthetics.

      Funny… in this case, u mention plastic pollution, so ceramic is not a potential pollution (as in to be treated as waste)
      Do some research to understands why and what’s the difference between plastic and ceramic in all their properties and characteristics.
      Oh yeah, tbh, the filter paper u used, is the worst pollution u are creating every time u brew a filter coffee using filter paper regardless the brewer equipment.
