I’ve just been bought this kit for Christmas, and my first thought was.... “I wonder if David has built one of these?” ... and sure enough, there’s an excellent build here. Thank you David.
What can I say. Mr. 'Plasmo' nailed it again! I've watched this vid several times and learned some new skills and had an instant dejavu when I saw the striking red and yellow paint on certain areas.
The Tuskegee Airmen is the popular name of the first all black airmen who fought in WWII as the 332nd Fighter Group of the US Army Aircorps, recognisable by their distinctive P-51' s red tails and yellow bands on their wings. They flew 15.500 sorties as bomber escorts and flew with distinction, for example destroying 112 enemy aircrafts in the air .
In 2007, 350 Tuskegee Airmen and their widows received the congressional gold medal.
+paul O Nice comment about history. Thanks
Met some real ones when I was I younger. They were amazing men and humble.
For aerodynamic reasons the wings on these aircraft were covered in duraluminum paint before they left the plant. That being said, you do superb work in all genres of modeling. Thank you Dave!
I'm currently building this kit. The aircraft was flown by 1st Lieutenant Spurgeon Neil Ellison, USAAF, 100th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in WW2, and his unit was awarded 3 Meritorious Unit Commendations. The red empennage was widely known. You nailed everything except the skin color of the pilot. The 332nd was an all-black squadron. Lt. Ellison was one of the first African American fighter pilots. The Redtails are LEGENDARY in American Military Aviation.
Top dollar - I can't praise your work enough!! Thanks for taking the time to share your skills and with an excellent video. All power to you!
Got the kit as a christmas present a few years ago, will finally get down to it this weekend, your video and technique is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Beautifully built P51. Very well done and an excellently compiled vid.
A truly beautiful build. I love your approach to post shading.
It's quite impressive that you took the risk by spraying the postshade, exhaust, and wash by keeping the canopy totally exposed. Nice job!
I can't stop watching the wonderful cockpit assembly. Sheer class. Even the music works.
Beautiful! You have most excellent skills! I notice that you use with the exception of an airbrush only the most basic tools to produce wonderful results. Very impressed with your work!
Just picked this kit up. Thank you for videos. Your work is inspiring!
Fantastic build, Martin. You make it look so easy!! Normally I wouldn't say anything, but due to your attention to detail, the P-51s through the D at least had a plywood cockpit floor! It should be visible through the open canopy.
This is watching a master at work. Make me want to return to modelling.
My mustang may have been my best build, but this trumps it for sure. Great job
you just do a mindblowing job with this kit - very inspiring. greets from Poland ;-)
WOW just impressive you are a real artist , i gonna watch all your vids now :D
+Pedro Dasilva Thanks mate. :-D
WOW! impressive with your paintjob and the precision
Great looking P-51!
This is the best I’ve seen this model done!
The 332nd pilots would be very proud of the way you built a model of their airplane.
Mate if I could have half the skills as you do with the airbrush and detailing I would be happy. Fantastic job.
Velmi pěkné video, jen tak dále. Já s modelařinou právě začínám, takže velká inspirace, jen pokračujte pane Damek.
Beautiful work
Well done
It’s amazing how many people watch your great videos and don’t like and subscribe. We need to give back to this amazing UA-camr
Mmm, a beautiful piece of work!
Very neat work
Excellent video.
wau!!!!!!!!!!!! havent seen your models before... this is stratospheric....
Another great build, video and music Martin, brilliant doesnt seem descriptive enough.
Fantastic job, great instructions. Thanks!
Hey there ! Amazing build , I've been looking at moving to an airbrush , just wondered what you use as it looks like a very smooth even coat! Much obliged 😊
Great work!
beautiful model. great job :-)
nice to see red tail colors in this build the squadron achieved many honors in the European theater
WOW! So perfect!!!Crazy perfect!
plasmo you did an amazing job, it truly is beautiful, you have such talent!!!
beautifl job congrats on that hard work
This is beautyful!
Amazing work! did you seal the model with any alclad finish? I'm getting ready to use alclad for the first time and wondering if you could use a different non alclad matte clear coat. thanks and keep up the great videos!
Would love to watch you build a Lancaster bomber. I/III
Great skills!
All that in 1/72 scale. Your the Master
dude u are the best of the best
i build model kits also(even though I'm a preteen)but when i paint them its a mess
Excellent Work! I still have a lot of learning left :)
When doing a aluminum paint job is it better to post shade or is that just something you are more comfortable with? Great job. Thinking of picking up this little bugger to go with my bf109
Great video. Will use quite a few of these techniques as I'm building this exact kit now. What putty did you use for the filler on the nose cone and what tool did you use on the panel lines?
Cool video 😃
Wow you are amazing!
Great video!
One question, what do you use and any tips for the post shading effect you do on aircraft???
What razor saw is it do you use here, for re-scribing panel lines etc? Thanks.
Martin this is one of my favorite build videos.
I have to ask though, which green did you add to the XF-71 for the chrome oxide cockpit colour! Nice model.
-Roger from Canada
I remember watching this when I was younger.
I just built this same kit, but in the new "Maverick's Mustang" issue, for the new Topgun movie. But I did it in Israeli colors and markings.
Great work i love you videos very helpful. Where can i get a brush like you use to paint the cockpit and all the inside of it? :)
What do you fashion your seatbelts with and how do you make them? Mine look okay but nothing compared to what you have. Very nice build.
Ještě jsem neviděl takhle realisticky propracovaný model Mustangu. Skvělá práce, Martine.
Jak dlouho modelaříš?
How do you use tape on Alclad metallic without it ruining the finish or pulling it up? Do you apply varnish coat between steps? How long do you let it cure?
How did you get the control stick and the aerial (antenna) off the sprues without breaking them? I recently got about 5 or so kits of this, and only managed to get one stick off intact, but it broke after it was glued in.
Nice model I like it.
I'm liking the name change for your channel. It should help get you more views.. Keep up the excellent modeling.
Very nive work !
May I ask what decal setting agent you use to seal the decals around the 13:40 mark?
Awesome!
also, does the propeller spin?
Fantastic work and a very good video! Also, I really love the music you chose for this video. What is it? I am not familiar with this music! It is beautiful!
Do i apply clear coat before sludge wash and before decals? Because you have to apply gloss coat before decals so they dont silver, then a youtuber says you apply a coat again before sludge wash, could you overvview the proccess cuase thats a
Ot of gloss coats needed to apply
podrian subtitular losvideos son excelentes y ayudan muchisimo, Gracias
Tak to je velká paráda ;-) super ! Dělej určitě další tyto "step by step" videa Martine.
Jaký přesně používáš, zkoušel jsi i jiné ?
what color did you use for the weathering effects on 14:40? And what kinda brushes did you use to being able to do the details?
Super práce
please I need to know about colouring the cardboard by metallic silver paint
nadherná práca - pozeram všetky videa - akurat premýšlam, či je nutne malovat interier trupu, mimo kokpitov , zabera to určite hodiny ..a nakoniec sa nalepia 2 polovice trupu a robotu nevidno...........
What do you guys think, should I get one of these particular P-51/F-51 kits from AirFix or go with another kit-manufacturer for a 1/72 scale Mustang?
I want to recreate the end-scene in "Top Gun Maverick" where Maverick has created that civilian twin-seater version (with both a little Maverick and a custom Penny figure sitting inside while on a clear stand as if flying). I have already bought a custom decal sheet that's specifically designed for that version with all the right numbers and everything; so all I need to know now is which kit would be a good choice.
However, whilst looking for model kits I got a little overwhelmed with the sheer number of manufacturers and all the Mustang kits they offered. So I have included a list of inexpensive models (I also saw a company called Arma Hobby who made kits in 2021 and 2022 but they cost like 2-3x as much as any of the ones listed below; so I'm just going to ignore those LOL.
What do you guys think about the following kits/manufacturers (if you have any experience with them that is). These are the ones that are readily available to me in my area:
AirFix - AX01004 or AF02047A
Revell - REVE04148/REV64148 (same kit but 64148 simply comes with some paint+glue+brush)
Italeri - ITA-086 or ITA1423 (I heard that Italeri rarely includes pilots/copilots on their sprues)
Hobby Boss - HBS-802303480230 or Hobby BossHBS-802423480242 or Hobby BossHBS-802433480243
Academy - ACA-12485
Tamiya - 60749 or 60754
Heller - HEL-802681580268
Thanks!! 🙂
Hey I'm doing a b25 Mitchell by revell 1:48 scale what do you recommend
hey mate, awesome builds. I wanted to ask, in the shop there are Airfix 1/72 with 1 and with 2. What does it mean?? level 2 is more detail?? which level was this one that you built??? thank youuu
What kind of brush do you use for the detail ?
I am beginning this build, my 4th build, as I am new to the hobby. Can you recommend the colors that you actually used? I want to make mine exactly like yours!
What tools do you use for the very small detailing??
Would be nice if you can answer these questions.
What paint do you use for the metallic silver?
Do you apply top coat to protect the silver paint before masking?
And finally, what paint did you use to spary the pannel lines? Smoke?
+Luftangreifer I used 1. Alclad 2 aluminium , 2. Alclad aqua gloss 3. Xf-1 tamiya and lot of thinner x-20a
Thank you
No way? LUFTAN!?!?!?! nice to see you man :) please do some more build videos again!
What is the music that comes first? I looked up Bagota Bank Heist and it isn't in order, I don't believe, unless I am mistaken.
This work is very beautiful, isn't it?
Excelente saludos desde Mèxico
superb!
did you mix black and silver for darker aluminium
Nice work :) great modeling and nice tutorial. BTW: what kind of airbrush are you using?
Cool thx;)
i would only like to see better close up of the finished model.. btw amazing work :)
i love scale 1/72 more because the size give me more space for my collection.
good quality kit
thank you for sharing the video.
Another great video (the Typhoon one is my favorite), can I ask a pretty dumb question though. Just what are you using to add the tiny cockpit details? It looks to stiff to be a brush....
+Judge Dredd Thanks, I used Tamiya Paint Brush Small for all detail.
Doh! Just ordered one of e-bay GBP £1.85, many thanks...by the way I have just started this build (I'm just finishing an Airfix 1/72 Mosquito Night Fighter) & will be following your video step by step. I also have the Typhoon 1B coming soon & will probably follow your video for that too! Cheers!
Can you please list the items you use for painting. I want to order and follow your same process
Do you need decal solution to make the decal stay in Place?
Moc rád sleduji tvoji práci. Opravdu paráda. Mohl bych tě poprosit? Vím že používáš wash citadel opravdu jde nanášet na matnou barvu bez lesklého laku? Můžeš mě prosím napsat které dvě používáš? Děkuji
I am semi-new to modeling. What do you mean by washers?
Also could I get an amazon link for the glue
For a cool fact the p51 did not have black outlines around decal
