Short documentary montage set to the music of Soft Machine about the decline of the Steel Industry and its effect on the town. Shot on VHS and crash edited on 2 domestic recorders.
our family is from Scunthorpe, my father was in management and was paid 2 grand severence[1974 voluntary] and we came to Australia, were my father was able to earn enough when he died in 09 he left 3 million dollars worth of assets. though we left a huge family of cousins etc behind to have no family here till we kids had kids. i wonder how our families Aussie born members would take to "Sunny Scunthorpe" PS a side note i was first born and my mum was 21 and hardly showed, so the folks went to Jersey so i could be born there so we could maybe live there, but they put a kibosh on that law years ago,so no jersey retirement for me
Fantastic piece of work showing just how destructive conservative monetary policy was on British industry in the 1980's and how it damaged towns like Scunthorpe.

I live n Scunthorpe it's the smallest place in England
It really isn't lol. I'm sure places like Brigg and Barton are smaller😁
It is just an average size town
Fordwich, Kent. The smallest town by population in England.
