Remembering Keith Relf born on March 22, 1943. He was an English musician, best known as the lead vocalist and harmonica player for rock band the Yardbirds. He then formed the band Renaissance with his sister Jane Relf, the Yardbirds ex-drummer Jim McCarty and ex-The Nashville Teens keyboardist John Hawken. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Relf
Wow! Never saw this before! Like so many promo films of that era. Pink Floyd's Arnold Lane, The Beatles Penny Lane. The Kinks Dead End Street. The music videos of the 1990s (& since) were "polished beyond enjoyable". But these 1960s films -- THESE were FUN! Thanks for this upload! 🙂
I was a big fan always from 1965 as a 13 year old. This video at least illuminates the mystery around the departure of Clapton, who played the lead on the record. His statement that the band's commercial success with this record was not his style always made me wonder if he was a snob. But seeing this video and Jeff Beck rolling his eyes now for the first time (2022) solves the mystery at last.
Jeff's rolling his eyes because he's not on the recording, and they're dressed silly. What 'lead' on this single are you talking about, exactly? We all know the Clapton story. He didn't stick to strictly blues, did he? He made his money.
I clearly remember the first time I ever heard this song. Sitting in my MGB in a traffic jam on the way home from a car race near Charterhall, England in about 1965 I guess. It was just so different from the music of the time it stayed in memory all these years!
@ronaldolaquidara64 They had two at the same time for a few short months, before it blowing up for the very reason you state! You should have warned them!
So Dreja is miming Auger and Beck mimes Clapton...I always thought that Clapton left the group because he didn't want to be in this promo. Can you blame him? Anyway, a big thanx for this video: I was looking for it since I saw it in a movie (a compilation of mostly italian musical clips), with a thread based on a Spaghetti Western plot. My God, more than 30 years ago!
And Jeff did not ever play on this song! Clapton had quit right before the recording session, and a harpsichord played the lead instrument instead. In a different promotional video of "For Your Love" they use a huge cardboard cutout of an ocean liner, the faces of the Yardbirds looking out through the portholes. Jeff looked like he is on his last nerve in that one.

@highschoolmusical841 Non, ils jouaient en première partie quand les Beatles sont venus au parc des expositions. Il y avait aussi les " Haricots rouges" qu'on a copieusement hué. Les pauvres n'avaient rien à faire dans une pareille soirée!
The piano must have been extremely old, having the white on black key arrangement. Whilst it helped the authentic look, should any mediaeval knights and court followers ever have had a rock group, I still don't see any reasoning for imitating what one might have looked like. was there a reason, please ?
The Yard Birds They Dead Ended.. ❤❤ I never tire of listening to The Yardbirds!
I've been listening to the Yardbirds for well over half a century and have NEVER seen this video before!! THANK YOU!!!

Loved this group. Got to meet them after a show in Detroit in the 60's. Spoke to Keith & Jim, who was a doll! Still have their autographs, lol.
Amazing group! Unforgettable music.
Never seen this one before. Even Jeff Beck looks like he's enjoying himself. Two thumbs way up!

Magnificent Masterpiece, very beautiful piece of legendary music, I love this great video, thank you for sharing, A+
the yardbirds had three of the most famous guitars..Eric Clapton....Jeff Beck ....and Jimmy Page.
@ronaldolaquidara64 They had two at the same time for a few short months, before it blowing up for the very reason you state! You should have warned them!
Love The Yardbirds, Keith R.I.P.
I've always loved the sound of the harpsichord. Still do.

Classic song! and What a great video! I like it when musicians don't take themselves too seriously :)
Always loved this song and this is a very cool video!
wow, fantastic piece of pop history and what a mad concept for a video at the time.
Yes, someone came up with an idea to out kink The Kinks!
@@deaddocreallydeaddoc5244 Good call!
Played this on a juke box to my first gf Gaynor R at Victor Harbor S.A. in the late 60's . I often wonder where she would be to this day.
I am going to paint "watch this space" on my front porch steps.
I did watch this space, and approved of the metal outfits and fancy hats and coats, but most of all I loved listening to some decent music.
I am wortless what a band never seen it fantastic and what a special band and singer
love this song and it was around the time my father was a child.
A baby of the 1960's
Was Keith suppose to fall in the middle of the song l found it hilarious also he was adorable in that clip
Keith looks great in that hat
fantastic video
Clapton, Jeff & Page.
Gods of Music
Wonderful amazing
Jeff at end of vid: "Oh, I'm supposed to fall down, then?"
"... or something like that."
"You expect me to fall down and scratch my bloody Tele, mate?"
Song written by Graham Gouldman. Great songwriter.
So Dreja is miming Auger and Beck mimes Clapton...I always thought that Clapton left the group because he didn't want to be in this promo. Can you blame him?

Yeah, I can blame him easily. This is a great number. And Clapton sold out for pop himself. He got his money.
Normally you think rock videos started in the nineteen eighties but that is wrong. Many English groups had videos in the sixties.
Brilliant
Excellent
Nada como el rock británico de esos años ❤
Jeff Beck looked like he wanted outta there. 😂 Was that a typical 60s video? Cute.
What a SILLY film-clip 🎥 Those
were the daze
That is one fresh-faced Jeff Beck.
great song

Now that you see this video, you know why Clapton left. always wondered and now I know. Beck's eye roll at the start,.... priceless.
This seems from French TV not US TV
indeed the song is great ^^
Jeff looks like he's NOT having fun
that or he's thinking, "we need to get rid of this director for our next video."

His first three or four camera shots, his expression says "This is total bullshit! Do I really have to put with this?"
He always looked like that, lol.
He just did not want to spit out his gum...LOL
SUPERB
i'm frm dat era and i thought " for your love " was da coolest 😎 rock song of da sixties and i'm a brotha.
weeellll the singers beautiful
Keith relf
He's so young here, it's almost hard to recognize him at first.
The best song by them❤ and I from sweden
He was, yes. Died tragically young too
Ha ha, the look on Jeff's face at the start is classic. How'd you guys get him to do this? Love it.
Exactly!!!😂
He's thinking, "I'm Eric's stooge."
@@deaddocreallydeaddoc5244 Hilarious!!
Love you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Barbara, DK
Proof that playing up to cultural stereotypes isn't always a bad thing!
Cute video
Made before my family had a TV. LOL
🤣🤣🤣
@highschoolmusical841 - Paul is on the right side playing bass. The guy playing piano is Chris Dreja.
Keith Relf RIP.
Wow. I feel ignorant not knowing how creatively advanced these guys were.

@highschoolmusical841 - Right. He does seem to be missing. There are only four - Keith Relf, Jim McCarty, Chris Dreja, and Jeff Beck.
@highschoolmusical841 Non, ils jouaient en première partie quand les Beatles sont venus au parc des expositions. Il y avait aussi les " Haricots rouges" qu'on a copieusement hué. Les pauvres n'avaient rien à faire dans une pareille soirée!

Best
So, what ever became of these Beat Alls that there were touring with?
Jeff Beck doesn't look too happy 🤣
LOL! 😆
This was obviously one of the first drunken Thanksgiving parties because it had no Detroit Lions to ruin it. Fascinating. Go Patriots!
The video looks to be inspired by very early French movie films.
Which guitarists are on this vid, Clapton, Beck, Page ? Roy b, Cape Town, south Africa.
Jeff Beck RIP
A goofy music video over a decade before MTV!

It’s a harpsichord, the same instrument as is featured in the song

I used to like this song until I saw this , to cheesy
TOO MUCH TALKING.
This may be the Yardbirds, but it sounds like an audition for the Chipminks
