Hellooo, loved this one. I have never had a basement. I always thought I would, someday, to keep my fitness machines down there, out of sight. Forever xx
Why would there be bolt cutters so near a door as dangerous as that one? Also, if I were to decide to use it, I'd make sure I had another padlock at the ready to re-seal it. Finally, I would have read that letter before doing anything.
I was agreeing with him that I would absolutely have opened the door, but then he said he was going to open it before reading the letter. No way man, I would have read the letter first. Also, is this how his father died?
There was a story awhile back about a key that could be used to open any door that would open to a time in the past and at a different door. I found that one very good. The person would steal trinkets and sell them as antiques for huge sums of money. There were monsters behind some of the doors, though.
"who could blame me!" literally everyone, you could have read the note first. also why not just yaknow brick it up. seems possible since it can easily be closed.
Well, you're only required to tell a buyer if someone actually Died in the house. There are zero laws requiring the dissemination of any information involving doors which connect to paradox demon type worlds. So you could sell that house. Or. so you choose to keep it but not live in it, in doing so you can put an iron door over the current door and weld it in place. Write out a list of rules, and rent or lease it out. If they can't get to the door they can't enter it, and it seems to absolutely require a person to open it. So install a heavy duty frame and nice strong metal type door and then get some professionals to weld it closed.
This is definitely one of my favorite creepypastas. All others limit themself to imaginable things in terms of scaryness. Sure the threat of being killed or having an arm torn off by some monster would be pretty scary too. But something that can turn someones life upside down without even causing physical harm is an entirely new level. If there is something worthy of the description "higher horror", its that.
Opening the door I get but you should have waited. Go upstairs fill a backpack with water, protein bars, extra batteries, a weapon ammo if needed. Also bring a knife packed, one for your pocket, a blanket. Then armed with a powerful flashlight open the door. Of course after opening it the only choice left was to burn the house down. In general don't go through strange doors without being prepared.
Everyone can blame you if your own mother tells you not to open a door through a note she made the day you were born best case scenario in the door is some empty room worst case scenario you just let something out which will torment you and your family for life
The house I grew up in was built in the 70s (middle of nowhere CT). There was a hidden door in the semi-finished basement that we didn’t find for a year because it was behind shelving & wasn’t in the blueprints. After my dad removed the shelving/false door, behind it was a room with a dirt floor and a single light bulb. I assume now it was meant to be a root cellar, but there were no shelves- so maybe the owner (who built and died in the house- who we purchased from his wife) made it but never did anything with it. Weird stuff happened in there all the time tho, especially in the basement smh
What I like about this type of content is how tastes can differ. Your narration and voice are among the best, in my opinion. However, this story fell flat for me. Whenever that happens, I browse the comment section and often find people saying how much they enjoyed it. That genuinely helps me with my own disappointment. And there is always the next story. Thanks for creating quality content!
What a freaking horrorible and super sad story! And what an imense generational burden with that house! This made me also think of the key of the house of David in Revelation 3 and Isaiah 22: "...he shall shut and no one shall open..."🤔
An excellent story, using implication and atmosphere instead of vulgar tropes. There is the slight issue that the hero's grim duty could be ended as soon as he can afford to fill the basement in with concrete and then safely sell it, but that would be a lame story!
Mama should have told him about the door. Maybe they could have had a better relationship. He should brick up the door or demolish the house. Why live your life as miserable people. Use logic!
Have kids they say. They'll keep your company and take care of you in your old age so that you don't have to die alone and suffer. So much for that. Mc heartless af
My grandfather passed peacefully in his sleep...unlike the people on the bus he was driving!

When I heard him say Capt. Kangaroo, my stomach dropped. Unnatural and unholy indeed!

I kinda want a pt. 2 to this maybe where he goes inside it and explains what he saw better to overcome his trauma
This is why I keep everyone in my basement chained up.
You never can be too careful. However, the people can't do chores for you if they are locked up.
Yeah why would I want the children to escape

Things that we can see, but can't see. The idea that the poor little boy could have spent a millennia in there
This one had me on edge! Wonderful narration my friend. 🎃

I would not have opened that door without a pistol in my hand.
Don't open the door ever
He was warned.😊
i would have read the letter, but I also always read instructions so...
Dark Somnium brought me here. So glad he did. ❤
This story totally put me at the edge of my seat this is the type of thing that I go to sleep to thank you
Wow, this was truly terrifying. Now I need a pallet cleanser before I can fall asleep 😂

Id just tear the house down and fill in the basment
Great tale of terror!
39:08 - Couldn't they just fill the basement with concrete?
While yes in theory they could its a demon its not gonna like that
Gosh, I can't figure out why they didn't get along.

Great, you're my new narrator 😁
Just find you .°•°.
Though Capt. Kangaroo was scandal-free, he was kinda weird.
Thank you for the great story!
Why don't just sealed it with thick brick wall, like cover that shit up and get that dough!
What in the big envelopes
Brilliant story❤

I love Bernhard's Door type stories
14:45 this is exactly why your mother didn’t love you🙃
Mama should have told him about the door. Maybe they could have had a better relationship.
He should brick up the door or demolish the house.

So basically, he went on a jaunt.
I got that wibe too
What music is it the background? Sounds like the opening few notes of “In the end” by Linkin Park

Or just knock it down. Lol what are the evil things gonna do, prevent just that room from being knocked down?
Well yea its literally infinite its basically already knocked down unless you mean tearing the whole house down which you just let it out
Nice story Bro.
