Another example of how refusing to explain your rules, & decisions out of fear, only makes those fears materialize. He should have told his wife the truth to begin with, and give her a chance to believe him, and trust him once she knew the truth, but he was afraid she'd take the kids and leave thinking he was crazy. Well she threatened to do that anyway, if he didn't accept the inheritence. He had nothing to lose either way, as his kids would at least still be alive and well and in his life, even while living separate with their mother. Its easy to blame the mother and I can see why, but he's to blame too for keeping them all in the dark. Rules laid down without explanation or good reason come across as dictatorship, and will always be broken behind your back, but rules laid down with an explanation come across as a solution to preventing disaster, and have a higher chance of being followed.

Holy crap~! You are such a good story teller. I listen to a lot of them. I've always loved paranormal and horror since I was 5 years old. I am now disabled, retired and writing a book--you guessed it--paranormal, surreal stuff. Your cadence, speed, tone, etc. are absolutely incredible. I'm so glad I found your channel. Thanx for another excellent telling of a well-written story.

same, there are so many narrators that just sound bored or do not bother narrating emotion into the stories. It just comes out boring and flat

I mean...all of this was the mom's fault. If the husband didn't want to go AND wouldn't tell you why (even though it sounded like she knew it was attributed to his childhood), she shouldn't have forced him. That's what I think and that's what I'm going with. That town/place was going to be evil with or without them, but he never went back after he was able to get away. Hmph.

She also blackmailed him into going using their children as pawns purely out of greed. It was totally her fault.

    • @Shadowstar1311

@@lukaslukas6267she did worse than nag, she blackmailed him. What if he had been brutally raped and tortured in that house for years and wasn't ready to talk about it? For all she knew, he could have been. He clearly had a strong reason not to move in, but she was too greedy to care, and used their children as pawns in a disgusting scheme to blackmail the poor dude. And she was willing to let her children lose their father if he didn't submit to her demands. In her persuasions, one of her arguments was "we'll be rich!" And she was willing to tear the family apart if she didn't get her way. The real monster in the story isn't vampires, it's greed.

I blame the mom for everything. She seriously threatened to leave him for nor taking an estate he inherited? She didn't trust that he had a reason not to move in there? What if he was repeatedly raped and tortured there and just wasn't ready to talk about it? If my fiancee refused to accept inherited money or property, I would probably be disappointed, but I would never threaten to leave her over it, and we don't even have kids. If we did, I would never threaten to take the kids away from her unless she was threatening to harm them. What a shitty wife, she doomed her whole family because she was greedy and cared more about wealth than her marriage and her family. She would seriously put her kids through losing a father they loved just because he didn't seize a financial opportunity? It's not like they were facing homelessness. And there's no excuse for what she did. Her flimsy explanation that he "wouldn't be the man she thought he was" if he didn't take the estate was just an excuse to weaponize their children for her greed. The little girls didn't mean to become vampires, so they're not at fault. The dad only agreed to move into the house because he didn't want to lose his wife and kids, so it's not even his fault. It's all the mom's fault. She blackmailed her husband into doing something he clearly had a strong reason not to do. He would have been justified in lying about why he couldn't move into the house, and he totally should have.
