  • Sorry, my memory was not correct on the flower falling with the seed. It makes a pod like a bean pod. You collect them in fall. They are carried by the wind or birds or other animals could digest and spread seeds. I am sorry I did not refresh my memory before saying that. But at the time I thought it was correct. Like Maple trees make pods also.
    Mimosa (Albizia julibrissin) s an Asian species. Which is one of my favorite weed trees. It will send flowers down the roan with wind currents. Plant itself in a good spot and grow really fast. The blooms are beautiful. Fuzzy puff looking balls. It attracts bees and many other insects.
    The tree is hard to garden under because the root systems are so invasive. Its powerful root systems can also lift and crack concrete .Facts
    plant hardiness zones 6 through 9.
    mature height of 20 to 30 feet in less than 10 years
    mimosas live for less than 50 years
    I have read it is hard to garden under because the root systems are so invasive. But as you see in my video many things grow under it.

    I pulled one out by it’s riot from my boyfriends rental was almost 1 ft high.transferred to a place where it is wanted & needed. It started to establish and gained almost another foot. It was fine in October. Just checked on it (early Jan) and something ate it (and my hydrangeas) It’ looks like a tiny broken skewer stick! I weep because I imagined it to look like an actual tree by the end of summer. Now I have revised my ambition for it to simply survive. I wrapped a roll of chicken wire around the little twig and pray it’s still alive and growing at the root level and will at least return as a living plant this spring.

    It is interesting that you put out this video because I have had a discussion about them with my sister and another UA-camr. Even though they are invasive species and are almost impossible to get rid of, they are very pretty. That seems to be the consensus.

      Hi, yes. I have cut this down at least 2 times. You have to dig the root ball out. or burn it. To close to the house for that. Yet, I love it enough to let it get this big over night. hahahah

      You could try to bonsi it. But I made a mistake in saying the flowers falling had the seed. It looks like pods on the end of them. A bean will grow near fall with seeds. I have never seen the beans on my tree. So will loke this fall on other trees to see if thy have them. Someone cut down the mom to my tree. It will grow back though. They tore down 3 more houses and a trailer on my street.

    • @rossmoore8319
      @rossmoore8319 5 років тому

      I do not know where you are located, but I can tell you they grow in Ohio and Michigan. So into zone 5. In it's extreme northern range it can be damaged by the winter but quickly recover and will need some shaping up. They are beautiful trees but very messy with the flower drop and all the leaf mess, so you may need to keep the broom handy. Also keep in mind that when you shape the tree, you may have branches that are. low and you may have to duck under them but over the course of the winter, those same branches will rise up alot.😀

    Hi Sneak-E I just looked it up and someone post on UA-cam saying the whole tree was good for medicinal purposes including depressions. No I don’t have one ..only red western cedar and some other trees that give off a lot of yellow pollen that turns everything yellow lol ., my soil is too rocky I guess . I had to build raise beds and hauled in some better soil for my garden . I have better soil below but want to keep an eye on the garden along with my granddaughter’s chicken coop . :)

    • @TheEmptynester
      @TheEmptynester  6 років тому +1

      Yes, I have read about it. But, with the bark soaking in grain alcohol like ever clear. I think it is the alcohol that helps with mood or sleep. The tr just looking at it cures depression. So I see no need to ingest it. I have learned a lot about Natural medicine to not promote it with out all info. And what helps one person may harm another. Who was not brought up on it. I may talk about this some day. Thank you for bringing this up in the comments.
