They had been working on this song when Chester died. Mark Morton decided to release it as a tribute to Chester. So all the vocals were done by the time Chester died.
@@Solitaryka0s they had finished the song a week before Chester died and as a tribute to Chester and his family and requested by Chester’s son mark released it and put it in the album and half the sales went to Chester’s family
I believe the vocals for this song were the last Chester recorded. It makes me happy that it was, because it's somewhat of a middlefinger to the people who said Chester "lost his touch" just because Linkin Park released a softer album at the end. Not only did he show that he definitely still had it when it came to heavier music, we're also blessed to see him do something different that what he did with Linkin Park. I think the instruments for this track are very rich and heavy, both guitar and drums dominating. They balance it nicely, but it's a very full sound that it's fascinating to hear Chester do vocals to. His high voice contrasts so well with the heavier instruments, making the song even fuller in sound. It was a moving touch for the video, having the microphone stand there. You feel Chester's absence, and it's so respectful. I really enjoyed seeing you react to this, thank you both for sharing your experience with us ❤
Phenomenal song! When he scream "gone by" he kinda sounds like "goodbye!"
