You are a genius! I love love love your thought process and set up for making the compact size work for you. ..while still keeping it cute! I am struggling with logging around an A5 planner and also a personal size filofax as wallet. ..so I can juggle my personal/day job/business/family life. I could sure use several of your ideas..and try tweaking g to work for me. You had me at bottom tabs!!! That is sooo me :-)

I use Frixion erasables for the same reasons of easy-rescheduling without lining out or white-out. Lovely planner! Very inspiring! I'm a Day-Timer/Franklin Covey rings-gal and it feels like there are fewer of us these days. I use the desk size cus I print my inserts and half-page is so much easier to cope with.
Girl- the Frixion has helped my "perfectionism" so much! I think I mentioned, I used to be the kid who re-wrote their notes if I made a mistake... it was grueling!! Love these pens so much!!! My predecessor at work used the Monarch size (8.5x11) and she loved it for work. The writing space looks like HEAVEN!! For me, due to carrying my planner everywhere, the classic and compact are perfect...but boy, do I envy the writing space in the desk size!!!!

AHH Thanks, Lora! that is by far my most used section in my planner due to my debt free journey- I am ALWAYS flipping to that area of my planner. I've wanted to try bottom tabs for a while and watching how easy it appears for you to navigate through your planner makes me think this is something I need for next year. Ps apologies for so many messages. Next time I'll make notes whilst I'm watching and post them all in one go! Xx

I'm watching this again. I like your "hacks", so I hope to learn the second time. I got annoyed with FP because all their tabbed calendars start on Sunday, so I went with Filofax ones, before I saw this video. looked on e-bay and saw some vintage leather and tapestry compacts, only one listed the 1.25" rings. I figured out that the only compact binders that come with larger rings are the zipper ones. I might buy one for myself, I had a personal Filofax , now that was small.
Girlie- you switch out the rings to bigger rings. You simply call Franklin Covey- tell them you want bigger rings- I have 1.5inch in my compact and they will ship them to you. Its not expensive at all- around 15 bucks. Keep that in mind when you find a binder you love!! You can ALWAYS buy bigger rings to replace the small ones in the binder. Hope that helps!!
I like the planner size; even though it's smaller, yours is set up very functionally, which is what I need. Thanks for sharing. I agree that each person has to set up the planner to suit their needs. Thanks, again. I wish you could set up mine.
Good Morning Alicia!! It is funny you say that, I have gotten so many requests over the years from planner girls asking me to customize their planners for them. Create dividers, inserts, etc. I honestly would LOVE to do that!! I just have to figure out a way to do it that makes sense.

Love your set up. I’m keeping a classic as a vital info and reference binder and toying with a separate schedule in a compact or a bound book. Not sure I need two sets of rings. It all depends on lifestyle. With ferrying kids and your Mom to appointments I’d say compact is for sure the way to go. Oddly I’m traveling so much that the classic just fits in my suitcase and the larger book is fine to haul around. But for day to day stuff it’s more of a desk book.
Thank you, Christine! People always think that carrying a classic planner is so bulky, but I never had that problem. I carried my classic around for 20 + years with no issues- it always fit perfectly in the purse I carried around in. It always sat on my desk fully open for me to review at any given moment. I LOVE both sizes!!! lol

I love your vision Boards you made throughout your planner. What size did you use to print on for compact size for those? You made them in canva free app? Would you share maybe?
I plan on doing a video soon about creating inserts on Canva soon. I have the Canva Pro- so not sure the difference between the free version and the Pro- as I have always had the Pro Version. What makes Canva so awesome is you can customize your design. So my compact design template is 4.25 x 6.75- this is the standard FC compact size. However, when I make them for my classic, I create a 5.5 x 8.5 design. The ability to change the sizing is one of the many reasons I LOVE CANVA. If you arent already signed up, use my code and try the upgrade. :)

sorry for my delayed response - I have been on a UA-cam hiatus! right now I only see neutral dots not colorful ones- but there are a lot of new Etsy shops doing the dots- just takes time to find the right ones for you.
What are those stickers? Diaso? I love the white sticker idea as opposed to correction tape. I too was given a classic franklin planner and the class probably 15 years ago when I worked in investment compliance at BAC. That was back when the the CEO of BAC only dreamt of buying Merrill Lynch.
Oh my goodness, Margo. It must have been a standard gift they gave everyone is the finance world! I was with Dean Witter. that turned Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Then my brokers moved to Merrill Lynch- It was like we were playing musical chairs there for a while! LOL

I just purchased a personal planner and I would like to know where did you get your weekly , etc inserts that are thick enough to hold you to pull out like the happy planner. Hi there! So sorry for my late reply. My brain has had a hard time making time to respond to everyone. Thank you for your patience with me. Yay on your planner purchase! I hope you love it. My weeklies, I make myself. They are inspired by a Franklin Planner called 5 Choices. However they dont make it in the size I want- so I created the insert on Excel. I was selling the inserts on Etsy until recently. the paper I use I buy from Staples. I typically use 28lb white paper. some inserts like my financial tracker, I use a 32lb paper. This video is older so I think you are referencing the removable small sticks- those are sold at DAISO- always in stock. The top tabs were from an Etsy shop that is no longer on the platform. I currently purchase top and bottom tabs from LinesPlusPaper.com or ShopBrooklyGraceCo on Etsy. hope that helps! Let me know if I missed any other questions.

Hi Lisa- Sorry I forgot to add them to the description box under the video. I will do that today. In the meantime, I got the frosted dividers from Sparkling Mint but I found out that she is no longer active on Etsy or instagram. So I bought new ones from Planner Press on Etsy/Instagram. She is a great store owner with great quality items. ShopBrooklyGraceCo is another great etsy shop that I buy things from, although she doesn't have FC compact sizes, she has other items that are great! Hope that helps!

I have been a FC gal for years; when I worked and now that i am retired- I have ALWAYS had a classic--But now after seeing your compact in this video i think I may want to switch sizes--have you found any drawbacks to compact from classic? thanks for this video

Hi Julie!! I was so hesitant to switch from classic to compact- but once in, I fell in love with the small footprint. I personally don't have anything that I would say is a drawback. I absolutely love the smaller size. If you write in it a lot, you may find it limiting to get into the inside pages but I don't have that problem... Hope that helps!
where do you get the flags and what are they called / size, etc.
i got the rainbow flags at Daiso Local store. You can't order them online but there are similar ones on my amazon store.

Daiso is a japanese 99 cent store- you can order online but it requires you to order in bulk. Best option is to find one near you. Are you asking about the removable stickers?

You might be able to order some from Franklin Covey- you can call their customer service line and ask. Its probably similar to rings- they have them but don't advertise. Also, you can find some great ones on Etsy. :)

Where did you get your sturdy bottom tab dividers?
I purchased these back in 2017 from an amazing etsy shop that is no longer active. :( I wish she was though- her dividers/tabs are such great quality and I am dying for another set!!! I just found out that Planner Press is doing FC compact dividers- perhaps they will work- I am contemplating placing an order with her to see how sturdy hers are. I will let you know if and when I get them! :) Hope that helps!

Hi Joann- the classic ones I got from ShopBrooklynGraceCo on Etsy. The compact ones I got from SprarklingMint on etsy but it looks like she closed. So I ordered a new set from Planner Press - though I am disappointed because she takes like two months to send you the item. 😞

Yes- I had some issues with Franklin Covey's lack of diversity and representation...and frankly stance on social injustice... so I declined to continue. However, you can always use TONYAPLANS for 15% discount with Franklin Covey. Tonya is amazing and still collaborates with FC.
"Planner people" might be better to say instead of "planner girls". There are lots of men in the planner community. In fact, at least one, owns a planner company (Print Pression).

Please don't be offended by this comment; I'm obsessed with your fabulous nails! However, it looks, on very close inspection, that you may have a gel or acrylic enhancement or overlay. Please ,please get them filled if this is the case. Not only are you risking getting water trapped, which can cause pseudomonas (greenies) infection, where you could lose your nail, you may also accidentally snap your nail back, which could result not only in a painful break, but may damage your nail bed permanently. They're so gorgeous, I'd hate for you to not have them! If I'm wrong, ignore these old woman ramblings xxx
Oh Sweet Carol- no offense taken at all - thank you for your concern. My nails are indeed acrylic overlay. I have been with my Nail Lady for over 14 years. I managed a vineyard for 12 of those years and let me tell you- I have ripped my entire nail off multiple times- ouch!!!!! Melinda my nail lady is AMAZING!!! I have followed her to three different shops over the 14 years- 😂- I have only missed an appointments due to covid. This time, she had a death and left suddenly and wasn't able to keep our appointment and so, due to my anxiety- I pick at them and inevitably bite them off. I think I explained in one of my videos that I have been a nail biter since I was a child. The only way I don't bite them, is when I have acrylic overlays. My nails are naturally brittle and icky. Since I haven't seen my beloved Melinda for almost two months- and with the rise of covid closing her location down as of yesterday- I probably won't see her until the new year. I am currently all natural- and actually enjoying it. I do miss my nails!! I promise as soon as Melinda is back in action, my nails will be back to their former glory! 😉 ❤️
@@MyMoxieDreams good mail people are to be treated like gold!! I have never had good nails, and I take so many meds that they fall off if i look at them. I also have diabetic neuropathy in my finger tips, so I need nails to protect them. I was doing them myself during lock down. Yours really look lovely. Xx
