As a self taught drummer i just kinda picked them up, fiddled around till it felt comfortable and started jaming. I love drums
And that's how it's done folks!
Awesome, we’re you able to progress fast by being self taught? I’m getting a drum set in a few weeks and I’m just wondering
You’re a wizard Sheri✨
Staaap! Love you bro!
Thank you sometime when I play my pointer finger burns but now that I do this I fell more comfortable
There are no right ways or wrong ways. If it works for you, then it's right. Please be careful though, you don't want to damage your finger.
Your posture when demonstrating the index thumb pinch is great, but when you're showing how the middle finger moves the drum stick, you're cramping up the area between the index and thumb. There's no space between the two as it should be in a comfortable grip.
YOUR. A. GOOD. TEACHER. !!!
Thank you. I appreciate that 😊
Keep Rockin' and Drummin'.

Deal! 🥰
when I started playing drums some 55 years ago I was taught the "traditional grip" both in music school and by personal teachers ... I mostly continued to use it even when I later played in various bands ... I personally think that it is still the most enjoyable way to play ☺♫
I totally get it. They tried to teach me that too. I rebelled. LOL. That's cool you've been playing for so long.
@@vintage_moses wel I started very young, played almost 10 years in bands, and did some studiowork, but I stopped when my son was born... and now after so many years, I restarted (a few years ago) because I have the time and the opportunity ☺♫
That's great! I am glad to hear you are back at it.
Quick and helpful. Thanks.
Great thank you! That's what I love to hear!
thank you. Very important
When I hold the sticks, I usually leave out the pinky finger, as it helps me play faster and conserve more energy. I only use the pinky when in a resting position.
same bud
same
I did too for all my years of drumming. Never even realized it until a couple of years ago. I retrained my had to stop doing it. It wasn't easy
@@vintage_moses It's actually more efficient to leave out the pinky
❤🎉

Thank you so much 🫡
You’re welcome 😊
I love this so much your amazing my friend
Thx! That's very nice of you to say. Hope you're learning along!
@@vintage_moses sure am I love your voice so relaxing
Thank you! I'm glad it's relaxing and not annoying. LOL
@@vintage_moses I wish I could play macthed grip
I play with promark and Vic firth both so would it be the same concept?
I’d say depending on the size and feel of the stick you may have to make some adjustments
I got your drumstick

👍💕💕
Thx! 👍💕
I keep getting blisters so I must be fucking something up
Sounds like you're practicing and playing though. Blisters are always a thing. The more you play, you will get blisters and eventually calluses.
Your wrist does the work, not your middle finger
Yup everyone knows that middle finger always gives action 😉
😂😂
