Hi everyone this is a video in which I show you a lot of tips on how to go about re rendering an old dusty wall that had loose plaster on it covering the basics and the must dos and don'ts this demo could help the diyer a lot or even a homeowner understand what must be done.

n the video I use a lot of tools I use the refina mega mixer to make the sand and cement in the large 40 liter refina tube I use a refina trowel with a pointsman hawk to apply the render an aluminum straight edge or know as a refina feather edge and a 1200mm speedskim on my skimming to get the wall straight and ready to be floated. Then I just use a float to rub it up which has nails though it to give a key for the next coat or tiles.

What type of finish are you going for mate it gets easier as time goes by but still hard old work for sure
@@macplastering thanks for replying I’m down in Wexford here I done a self build over 4 years in a year now ,I’m going white sand cement and a shovel of lime,what about plastering onto mass concrete walls will I put thistlebond on first before scutting
I had no problem getting men during Covid hard to get any trades people now I’ve a lot of mass concrete walls around the house don’t know to plaster them or just grow Ivy up them
Are the garden walls ? up here if block is fresh we can 1st coat straight on to them after wetting down some Just uploaded a video on the chimney top 1st coat might be of interest ?

Whats the refina trowls like mate do they take alot to break in?
Can take a few weeks floating but when broken in I wouldn't leave the house without it =]
@@macplastering are they stiff mate or have they got abit flex in the blade ? I tried one of them nela trowls but it was like using a brick
@@Frankieee-bj6nu stiff enough and then they do have a more flexi it's good to I like a solid one for coating and 1st 2nd trowel then suoerflex
