- I've been slowly working on this for like the last 3 months but now its done,
probably not going to stream for a bit because BDSP is releasing soon.
BUT once I've done all i want in BDSP i'm gonna start shiny hunting some Pokemon on stream maybe i dont know

If you do end up getting one of the battery holders where the battery slots in (rather than the tabbed batteries that come with the OEM carts), I highly, highly recommend using solder wick, flux would be super helpful as well. I've soldered 4 with no issues, but the 5th one (my brother's sapphire) had the pad lift up because I had the heat too low and wasn't taking precautions. Still possible to fix a few ways, but way more trouble than I would have if I was just careful. Once they're in though, it's amazing. Replacing batteries gets super easy and low-waste, plus you have the niche use of removing the battery if you don't want the Feebas tiles to reset (though due to the in-game clock berry glitch, it would essentially "freeze" berry growth, so take caution).

People call the OG DS the "fat" model online from what I've heard. It's great.
Only reason I use a 2DSXL is because it also supports 3DS games and I don't mind using my game backups on my 3DS instead of DS.

Iv successfully shiny hunted treeko and kyogre in OG sapphire. My greatest achievement in my shiny hunting journeys. I plan on moving my shinies over to XD:gale of darkness then restarting sapphire and goin after Rayquaza on OG sapphire and Heart gold and soul silver. So 3 screens goin at once.
I enjoy the pigeon and this is the side of pokemon in particular that I feel there isn't enough info on so its great to have such an honest personal experience to view

When I heard something about shiny odds being bugged because of battery now I'm freaked out. But also the soul silver and heart gold the starter hunt is so good sense you can see all of them at once
I'm in the beginning stages of replacing all of the batteries in my gen 3 games with those clips that you just slide a new battery into

One thing, you're wrong. The original DS is built like a tank.
Otherwise it's pretty good but i don't trust the hinge at all.

Can you shiny hunt when the batter is dead
You can shiny hunt with a dead battery but soft resetting becomes more complicated
Random encounters work fine, however soft reset hunts are hard to do. Pokémon ruby/sapphire/emerald run at 60fps. The battery in ruby/sapphire determines the starting frame of the game, so when that battery dies, every time you boot up the game it will start on the same frame. For Pokémon emerald the starting frame is the same every time you boot up the game whether or not the battery works. This means that for soft resets if you’re taking the same amount of time to encounter the pokemon it will be the same every time. So you could soft reset but you would have to make sure you hit a different frame every time. A good way to do this would be to wait an extra second once in the game before encountering the Pokémon every say 30 resets. So after you resets you wait an extra second for the next 30 resets, and after that you wait 2 seconds for the next 30 resets, and continue this pattern until you get a shiny. This does add a long time to your shiny hunt but to the best of my knowledge is the only way to soft reset in ruby/sapphire without changing the battery. In Pokémon emerald if you want to shiny hunt the starter instead of waiting longer you can just reset your game every time to reset the frames that you can hit. As an extra note if you find a shiny zigzagoon in Pokémon emerald while shiny hunting the starter dont fully reset your game as if you can check the starter just a few frames quicker than the zigzagoon then it’ll be shiny. Hopefully this helps and isn’t super confusing
