187 hp? I think you guys meant 167. Also, the club edition isn't about the aesthetics, but the additional of the Bilstein shocks, new diff, and additional bracing.
Drove one and I love it... Made me consider an NC. I love my NA dearly though... and decided to get an FR-S... which is now at Toyota likely getting a new motor.
yes the blizzak snow tires are the sole reason for their 1/4 mile time in this MX5, they are great for ice and snow not so great on dry paved roads for handling and accleration 8 months of the year i have them on my turbo miata
LOL! How on Earth did someone at Motor Week screw up on the HP ratings of the MX-5? 187 HP? Would be nice, but it's only rated at 167 HP (Even with premium fuel, you can't squeeze out an extra 20 HP, Mr. Davis..lol)
I had more vandalism with my ‘99 soft top. I put 5 tops in 10 years on that car. My current Miata is a 2013 NC GT PRHT. I’ve never had a single issue. I’m confused by your previous comment. Am I just reading it wrong or something?
Boy u got that right! Security, comfort, rigidity, quietness -kinda?🥴classy looks n add the prht controller? Win win- I reside in Bay Area so a 5cent razor blade can do immense damage on a soft top.
@@JJF1973nope yer spot on- I am lucky to park my prht 13’ in my garage always. I’ve had 10 convertibles over my 5:04 64 years of residing in Bay Area -a25 cent razor blade can cause immense damage sadly in this area n time- it ain’t getting better but here?. It’s 10 mos a year with top down baby🎊🎊
My '00 LS is getting old. I'm thinking of the above club and throwing on Ohlins or something even though I think the NB looks better. The Cosworth supercharger would be nice too...
I want a 2013 Mazda Mx5 Grand Touring. Sirius XM satellite radio, heated seats, 6-speed automatic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, and soft top. I want it to be bright red.
8 seconds to 60 is just too slow. A car like this deserves a sub 7 time. I really like the Miata and I realize the car isn't really about acceleration, but this thing needs to be faster.
I wonder if the new generation MX-5 will carry the current model's tradition of being a car way too damn small for anyone taller than 6 feet.... we'll see
MR2 and S2000 imitator? Maybe you should learn some history BEFORE writing your script. This is in no way an attempt to steal the spotlight from the MX5, as I like the car just fine. Though to say that the MR2 and furthermore the S2000 are imitators is a wildly false statement, as both cars are predecessor of earlier models. While the MR2's second round may have not met expectations, the S2000 well exceeded expectations, as the model ran eight years longer than intended.
haping1 You ever driven an NC? Thing feels pretty damn well; the NB is a raw-er experience if that’s what you mean, but then the NA is better at that. The NB is a good tweener of both.
Well said, I very much agree with the rundown of each generation. A lot of people hate/joke on the NC but have clearly never driven one...it's fantastic. (I've driven every Miata, and love them all, but the NC is the most well rounded of all of them imo)
187 hp? I think you guys meant 167. Also, the club edition isn't about the aesthetics, but the additional of the Bilstein shocks, new diff, and additional bracing.
I'm looking to buy a 2007-2008 Miata as a second car. On the used market it's such a great value

My 91 cost $15,800. I still have it. It has 60K miles and still drives like the day that it was new.
Still have it?
My favorite design for the Miata
On my third MX5 had a NA and two Nc's most reliable most fun on four wheels hands down!
This guys voice reminds me of commercials from the 90s and early 2000s
Love that front end looks so happy!
Chubby cheeks!
167hp. Not 187.
NC2 has more HP than NC1, Mazda never updated the HP number for the NC2 improvements
@@selkie20 False, dyno runs comparing NC1 and NC2 showed none or negligible HP/TQ differences
stop asking me to change my name! At least the new ones quick.
Actually this model year was a tiny bit slower. 167 at the crank would be accurate.

Was thinking the same thing. Someone is going to be fired ;).
Even though road noise is supposedly the same with either roof...I still prefer the longevity and the no vandalism worries that come with a hard top.

@JJF1973 I wanted to say hard top and wrote soft top.....have corrected that abysmal error.....

MX5-you cant go wrong for a tidy reliable drop top two seater it has no competition at this price point 👍
i was wondering about that. was thinking they made a 20hp jump, and i didn't know about it, which would have been awesome!!

@@Hammerdak i would love to learn how to drive a manual but the problem is the doggone clutch is heavy and I would stall it a bunch of times. 😂
yeaa..look even closer and you will see the first production dates...
I think there's an error. The miata produces 167 hp, not 187.
With aftermarket parts, you could get it to 180 plus. That's what I did.
Man, I hope so. The NC is waayyy too big. They need to come back to NA dimensions and weight.
I was just about to say, damn near 190 HP from 2 liters? That would be pretty good
Almost as good as the Honda S2000. I love this gen Miata though
Nice helmet Ben!
That's what the Targa Newfoundland package from Flyin Miata is for...or just swap in an LSx engine.

marc hard top maybe?
the mx-3 clock 16.3 1/4 with a heavy 1.8 v6 . something is not right?
The titanic of the miatas
I really wish they had a 2.0 Turbo option that comes out of the factory. But either way its really fun.
winter tires on a club without heated seats
This is correct.
I love my mazdaspeed miata
187hp? I'm pretty sure this car only has 167?
I wonder if the new generation MX-5 will carry the current model's tradition of being a car way too damn small for anyone taller than 6 feet.... we'll see
If you look at the detail of this car it's the same as an S2000
Doesnt this car reach 60 in under 4 seconds?
Those options are incredibly expensive for a car that MSRP's for around $25,000.
you are taller than the sky?
Safety
Did he just say the S2k TRIED IMITATING the Miata?
Look, I fucking love the Miata and drive one myself, but that statement was downright stupid.
Miata came out many years prior, so yes it's a possibility.
Sure, the Miata came out earlier, but both the Miata and S2000 are both imitating classic British roadsters, not eachother
Oh
warum schreit der so?

Taller than the sky? Maybe not! But being about 6 foot 5, I ain't exactly a dwarf either!
Mazda Mx-5 has 167 hp not 187 hp. I wish it had 187 hp.
Wrong power spec; not 187. 167 HP yet you can't get close to the actual 1/4 mile or 0-60 metrics everyone else does.
Wow 8 seconds to 60 mph , the new one really is a step up. Great video..."Yeshua / Jesus is the way "
if only it fit a 6'3" body.
My 6' 8" friend drives my 06 often.
Thomas It does.
Thomas I mean I'm just shy of 6'1, and I fit fine in a miata, even my friends 94'.
Id rather have the S2000, it was a better car than the Miata in my opinion...aside from the stupid Star Trek dash it had.
187 HP? Should be 167 HP...
the miatas been at it since 89... the s2k and mr2 can eat it from their graves.
Winter tires in the dry? Boo.
I guess add an exhaust, CAI, and a few more parts and you could reach 200hp without a turbo easily.
Mazda is making it lighter which the MX5 needs to be.
Try a MGB n then come back…..
I think John Davis needs to buy new clothes that fit his new slimmed down body
Lol lol, I wish my 2012 had 187 horsepower.
MR2 Spyder was garbage. The S2K was faster but way more expensive and also had a bad tendency to crash into walls.
well, you cant have one...big people look ridiculous driving miatas...it looks like you stole your kids powerwheels...im sorry to have to tell you that
The smiley face front facial looks ridiculous. Looks like your driving a cartoon character.
The NC1 looked OK. The NC2 (first facelift) had the smiley face. The one featured in this vid is the NC3 (second facelift) and has an OK front end.
