Gotten my 1st free game from GOG the other day (Lost Ruins), and finally decided to venture the hows & whys of "STEAM vs GOG", and why I should consider GOG at all. As a console gamer at core, I NEEDED to know. Given problems with games like Flatout 2, Ultimate Carnage, Oblivion(I play with controller) and the dreaded how to's of FALLOUT 3 from STEAM, this video helped me alot. I WILL be using GOG alot more now. Thank you, brother. Instasubbed.
And GOG, if you you're reading by any chance, please do all things possible to help bring the best underground (and savagely underrated) racing game, BLUR to PC.

GOG all the way; if a game has LAN play and I want to be able to play it with my son in the same house, I shouldn't have to buy two copies, which Steam does. Just imagine, buying Super Mario Bros. 3 for NES back in 1989 and having to pay an extra $50 to unlock 2-player mode. Everyone, encourage every developer with games on Steam to expand to GOG!

@@i-frames816 if they're in the same house for the same family it should be fine, for the reason I stated above. I'm done having others control how I use my purchases; one of the reasons I just Android and not iPhone. GOG is what allows us to protest this direction in gaming without resorting to the Pirate Bay or quitting gaming entirely; any game devs that want my money (and I'm sure I'm not alone) will sell through GOG. On gog you download and install games on and from your OWN computer. You don't need a launcher, either Also, you OWN the games that YOU buy. If steam shuts down, that's it: You've lost it all. I use both. I’ve been a Steam user since 2007 and GOG since around 2015. Steam is where I get the latest games or simulators that Paradox refuses to release on GOG (Cities: Skylines, the upcoming Cities Skylines 2), or my favorite FPS series Sniper Elite. Or driving games like American Truck Simulator and ETS2. However, the communities are very toxic and they don’t accept every source of currency (generic Visa/MC gift cards that are not Steam are hard to use to add funds to purchase games, for example).
And then there’s GOG. Man…during the days when Proton wasn’t a thing that Valve was using for Linux support, I found myself installing GOG any time that I installed Linux Mint and took a break from Windows. I kept my library ever since (almost 300 as of this morning). GOG is where I play games to RELAX (the Ys series, Colossal Order’s first game Cities in Motion, the Metro series, the Dishonored series, NO MAN’S SKY, Cloudpunk, Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghostrunner). It seems that if I want to relax, GOG is where I buy and play games. If I want to chase achievements, or if GOG doesn’t have it, I go to Steam.

GOG is my 2nd preference - has an ok launcher and older games not available on Steam. While having offline installer is a plus, personally have never used it yet but at least the option is there if necessary. Epic's launcher is worse, but claimed free games there, so I just use an alternative launcher for it. Some of their DRM-free games don't really require a launcher after installation. Sir! SIR...there is another advantage I wish you would discuss, "Low budget gaming". IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY and don't WANT to buy or upgrade to Windows 10, then GET GOG games for Skryim and other games. Because STEAM IS FORCING you to upgrade and spend money JUST TO PLAY THE GAMES YOU BOUGHT. On GOG games, there is no such bullshit. They do extra programming on the games ALL THE GAMES.... SO THAT YOU can play your games with compatibility , on your Windows 7 computer. You don't have to upgrade to win10, which at THIS point, (not 3 years ago,), TODAY, is going to cost you money.
