Camera is great. I’d make a small suggestion for productivity. You said you walk back and forth a bunch. Think about getting a small cart to put the finished prints or the sheets. You could clear half/a quarter of the plates with a cart. Save you a bit of work time. Doesn’t need to be fancy. Small enough to move around in the space but could save you some time.
Okay… this was exactly what I’ve been trying to tell some people I want to do… sort of a vlog… but not a vlog. This was pretty awesome. Watched the entire video while drinking my coffee and building a lego set. 1000% you should continue posting these
Superb that you have mentioned the humidity problems, not many seem to mention this. Also, for the viewers, take note, this fella ain't reviewing just one 3D printer/model, he is using these on a daily basis as a business venture, so he will know more about these 3D printers that most of the one-shot "influencer" (dislike that word) sponsored videos that you see on here. Sam is worthy of a like and follow as the information he gives in his videos is priceless information based on long-term usage.
I very much like your organization. Many people are haphazard with their organization. The camera and mic are excellent. You look like you've been doing this longer than six months for sure. Wishing you much luck in the future!!
Hey Sam, Great video! The new camera is fantastic and the mic is perfect! Love this style of video, as a newbie myself to the laser engraver business and a long time 3D artist I really appreciate all the detailed info, it really inspires me to continue building my own side hustle. Thanks for all the great work!
I noticed you handling those packing slips above each printer and remembered something from my past "restaurant owner" years. That sparked an Idea in my brain when I saw it a few weeks ago and I created something to turn that two hand operation to a one hand operation. Thank you for sparking that Idea.
Wow, great to see how far you have come along! That camera loves you! You are so natural, you are going to keep growing at a fast pace! The 3d print farm looks great! I started watching you a long time ago, it is great to see where you are at now. You actually got me into all types of making.
This was a great video! So many content creators only show you the stuff they MAKE to sell. Few give you the process from make to ship. Thanks for showing your pkging process. It gives other makers ideas on shipping!
Great organization. One suggestion would be to have a cart and two sets of print plates. So take the finished plate off, put it on a roll cart top shelf, take a new plate off the second shelf, and move on. So then all your printers are ready for the next job without needing to take everything off the plates.
The cart is a great suggestion! He could skip the extra plate and just have a box on the cart for each order that's finished. Dump the plate contents into the box with the order info, and half the work is done! He should for sure label each printer on the shelf though (like put a big sticker in front of each printer), so he doesn't accidentally miscount and grab the plate for printer #5 when the correct printer was #4 or something.
First time viewer to your channel. Great Video. Awesome looking business you have there Sam. Super impressed. But mostly, what a great chap you seem to be. I wish the world had more Sams in it!! Best of luck for the future buddy
I don't own a farm, just do some custom stuff at home (with 6 printers), but this was quite interresting watched till the end. Finding a product you can keep on selling is nice, bless you and your business wish for you all goes well!
Hey Sam, you popped up on my feed after about a year. Wow! things certainly escalated in the shop in the last year. Congratulations on your success, that's super impressive.
Running this business is so cool. You did this, Sam! I watched you build those shops and you filled them up with your dreams and muscles. Please, more vlogs like this! You are good at Show and Tell. Important skills we started learning in kindergarten. Now you can use your knowledge and speaking abilities to raise your beautiful family. ❤️Blessings to you all.
I thought this was really cool. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you going through the effort. I like seeing how new technology creates business. Thank you one last time, really do like seeing it.
Stumbled across this video when it autoplayed on my TV. I have an online business too, and have gotten so many good ideas and tips from this one video. Thanks so much for sharing! 🤘🏻☺️
17:45 I know it doesn;t look like that in this video, but actually this ishighly organized process from zero (getting an order) to end (shipping the order). Everything is organized, everything has a place, and each step is optimized. Actually a great example of (hopefully) sucessfull business. This is my first video fro mthis channel, and although presentation is kind of slow, the whle shop is inspiaring and it makes me want to organize my studio little more. I really like how the shop looks and works.
Please look into industrial engineering and lean manufacturing principles. If you have the orders you need to maximize utilization of the printers and minimize movement.
Awesome video! I'm running a smaller print farm and just like you mentioned in a previous video I love watching how other makers handle the workflow! Now that I'm done with dinner I need to go finish assembling some items that are sold out
That camera is doing a great job. As a former business owner, organization is one of the major keys to success. I love the QR codes tied to the appropriate video is a brilliant idea and must cut down your customer support role. It's exciting to see your success, it is well earned !
wow man!, you are doing so well with your business! I last watched you in your shed. Congratulations on your business its looking really good. It gives me hope that i can some day be as successful as you!
To help with efficient you could get a desert/drink cart to prevent the back and forth from the printer to shipping. I used to use a baking rack on wheels that I could see helping you out
I love your made in USA sticker :) also seems your process is very productive and stream lined. Good to see everything running smoothly and efficiently in a small business. I hope you continue to grow and find much more success man. You’re rocking it
Wow Sam I have not seen your set up since you added all the other printers! Super impressive! Just love your process very inspiring ! Im finally in my new shop most of it is now set up and I’m able to make saw dust lol hitting the Christmas markets while I can. Thanks for sharing !!!
The camera is doing a great job and the video quality is excellent. Pretty soon you're going to need a bigger building just to handle all the 3D printers. I haven't had any issues with bamboo slicer but after watching your video I definitely want to check out orca slicer. And as always it's good to hear that business is doing well. Thanks for sharing.
I try to support them as much as possible. Our tiny post office has told me repeatedly they're so happy I use them for my business shipping. Thanks for watching!
I had no interest in starting a small business or 3D printing... and I watched this whole video. That's just how great you are in this. You're very personable and that made this a very interesting watch. I wish you all the success in the world! The camera worked great in my opinion!
I'd get like a cart or a basket for moving your parts off the build plate. Basket is smaller and easier to carry around. But a cart can have small bins or boxes and function as a rolling work bench. That time walking back and forth can add up to a lot. Also, love your camera!
Cool vid man, super interesting, maybe you could make a jig for filling those baggies of bits, like a tray with some lips a bit smaller than the bag that you can lay the items on quickly, then slide the bag over the jig and pull the jig out leaving all the parts in the bag
the cam works fantastically, if you make more daily or weekly vlogs then I'll watch, I love following ordinary people who work, seems like it's popular at the moment too.
Dear Sam, This was very interesting to me! You seem to be at peace with yourself and that's important in life! I enjoyed watching your processes and it looks kinda fun! I used to produce semi-professional training videos and can tell you that I liked you camera work and your format. Best Wishes for Success and Take Care, Tom
Questions! How do you know what to change? Where do you get your customers? Where to advertise? How make printers can you start with at a minimum? Have a video for all my questions? If not, please do one.
Hmm. Just last night I had a print with a medium sized flat area that I turned ironing on for. When it finished, half the surface was great, and the other half looked like it had under-extrusion. I'm also using Bambu Studio 1.10.1.5. I wonder if it was a software problem as well, rather than a filament flow issue.
Re your software issues. Sometimes certain software can "conflict" or have more errors depending on the hardware and available parameters within said hardware.
Dude good video.. I appreciate the tips. BTW you mentioned a solution to the humidity issues... Was that resolved by the mini split system the I saw in the background?
Great video, you ARE fancy on camera, Ta'Dahhh! Great video, picking up lots of ideas. You might need a little roller cart to pick up the items and bring them over to the table.
Great workshop, I love print too!, im doing this for 6 years but only for hobby, and when see this kind of work, for me is amazing ! Congrats! Like! best regards from Spain.
This is great! You are totally independent - doing everything by your self. You understand the process and machines. Next step is probably some employee - and this is where you need to look out. Employee must know the process also, there must be good paid (HE must be good paid NOT the government via taxes), and he must train and develop. Good luck!
Camera is good. Tracking is good, maybe a little to fast sometimes (if splitting hairs). Sound is perfect. I used to run a print farm of 24 printers in 2021-22. Lots of repairs on those printers back then. Your setup is very nice. We will see how long all these Bambu's hold up with so many people using them as mini factories after months of constant use. Maybe get a utility push cart if you are pulling several beds at once if you have the shop space to store it. Also if you have spare time you can "learn lean 6 sigma for free" for process improvements methodologies you are already mostly implementing. Awesome job Sam! I was happily surprised to see a new video from you.
Wow you just gave me a flash back to when I was a materials engineer at an industrial facility with that lean 6 sigma comment hahaha. Thanks for the flash back
@@jcbuckeye First, in the comment you responded to the person stated 2021-2022 was “back then”. Sound more like they didn’t purchase quality printers as I have had some Prusa models from 16-17 that ran almost non stop without issue; they just took much longer to fine tune print designs from more recent printers. Second, pretty sure this guy didn’t purchase 26+ printers if his business was not “viable”. It all depends on your service, product, and market!
You did a great job on the video. Was really interesting seeing how your day of running a business goes. I've looked at your store and was impressed with your selection of products. I'd love to know how you thought of making jigs for a laser engraver was a good business model. Lol. Well done.
I had wondered about aspects of your 3D print farming business and this video answered most of my questions. My own business has fewer products (more coming soon) and no color options so I do short run just in time manufacturing but not print-to-order. That makes it much easier to manage. I typically print as many items as I can fit on a build plate and I'll print a plate or two when a product bin gets low. I recently changed from PrusaSlicer to OrcaSlicer and I like it so far. I tried it a year ago and crashed a printer trying to use the OrcaSlicer printer calibration routines, and I crashed a printer yesterday with OrcaSlicer because the start and end print G code wasn't right and it lost Z height. Hopefully I'll get that squared away soon so I'm not buying new PEI build plates. I was surprised to see that you print directly over WiFi from OrcaSlicer to your Bambu Lab printers. I thought Bambu made it difficult to print remotely if not using the Bambu cloud based print server, which I will never do.
Drill a hole in the bottom of the bottom bins on your rolling cart and place a zip tie through the hole onto the wire rack, it'll help with them slipping around.
print a number to slide in a slot that’s stuck to printer in the front of the white area of your printer so you not having to relay on memory. That way if you need a kid or wife to collect stuff they not hunting for it. If your machine has a QR code for the app print that too. Then you don’t have to hunt the software list to find what you need. If you 3d print you can shift machines around and just slide number to new position. Slic3r forked to Prusa Slic3r was forked to Bambu and then orca I believe. Do you have fire suppression bombs or tubes? It may pay to get a few tubes above the printers if there’s a mishap then you don’t lose your shop!
Pretty cool to just see how people opperate their business. I have a couple of small cheap 3d printers and would love to get a high quality one eventually.

You're very humble and impressive my guy, I legit enjoyed watching this, good work starting your own thing. You can see you've done some hard work to get it moving this way, looks smooth and very professional. Thank you for an awesome showcase of your routine.
Shipping with all carriers above a pound are in pound (16oz) increments. So when you mentioned 53oz rounded up to 58 ounces, they are both 4 pound rates. 3 pounds 1 oz or 3 pounds 15 oz is the same price as 4 pounds. Might help to document your weights so you dont have to reweigh the same product each time you sell it, especially if you use the same/similar enough packaging each time to not cross over into the next pound. Fwiw. Good luck!
Wanted to comment this but refrained. Also might want to get boxes with less dead space in them and look into cubic rates. UPS rates can be very competitive, even under 1 pound.
i find it advantageous to have an extra set of build plates ready to go, pull it off and apply fresh plate start next job. then my post processing does not interfere with production
Orca slicer is what I use about 70% of the time (for my other printers 100% of the time). It's a fork from the Bambu Studio, and gets features before Studio adopts them (and has several features that Studio never actually forked back in as well). A nice little tip if you start to have issues with adhesion (or just don't want to deal with possible issues), give the BIQU Cryogrip bed plates a go... I have it on my P1S, and can basically run the bed plate on it at almost ambient temp. Bambu has their own version (which I haven't tried yet), and your slicers should have a setting for their plate (it works with the BIQU as well). I'm looking to expand my little farm, and decided to pick up a Anycubic Kobra 3 combo setup (around 100ish less than the A1 combo depending on sales), and THUS FAR, it seems to be working pretty well...
Great video Sam, the new camera and mic worked great. My suggestion would be to get a rolling cart to clean off multiple printers to take everything over to your table rather than making so many trips. Great to see your business successful.
Osmo Pocket 3 tip: Once you set the camera to track you, push the joystick down a little and it will move down so that your head is closer to the top of the frame and your body and other items you’re recording are more in frame. It will look better than your head being right in the middle.
Soap and water for the plates at least occasionally, the oils from your hands are the worst offenders and alcohol doesn't remove that the way soap does.
hey I just wanted to let you know I woke up today and more or less the first thing I did was show my girlfriend your video, of how you grew that 3d business so quickly. You're really an inspiration for me :)
New AV equipment is working well. Thanks for sharing a morning in your shop. I like the format. FWIW, I have two A1 combos. I’m in Florida, and the humidity in my workshop is 50-60%. It hasn’t affected my printing using PLA. For years, I had other printers in a non climate controlled garage, with even higher humidity. No issues. For my A1s I’ve haven’t experienced any software issues using Bambu Studio, or Bambu Handy. I’m running the latest software and firmware. I know some others have had issues such as you have. Good to know Orca is viable option if I do.

Can always set up a solar/wind farm on your homestead to power all your printers, cheaper than using grid power if you do it right

This is the first video of yours I've seen but I love seeing a fellow Element owner. I wish mine was reliable, but heck yeah toaster crew!
My current one is the 2nd I've owned. It's a little rougher than my first one was, but I'll get it polished up over time. :)
print a number to slide in a slot that’s stuck to printer in the front of the white area of your printer so you not having to relay on memory.
Really enjoyed this style of video! I like watching the day to day videos of small businesses.
I love this video. Best 3D print farm vid I've watched
i love how organized you are
Shipping with all carriers above a pound are in pound (16oz) increments.
Camera quality looks great. Love the vlog style too.
I think your camera set up was spot on, thanks
I appreciate that!
And there you address the cryogrip plates, LOL.
Great video Sam, the new camera and mic worked great. My suggestion would be to get a rolling cart to clean off multiple printers to take everything over to your table rather than making so many trips. Great to see your business successful.
Great idea!
Enjoyed the video! This is the first time I've seen your channel - keep up the great work. Hopefully you don't hate this style after you edited it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
I like the new camera, mic, and the format, keep up the good work!
