I was five years old when my father started physically and emotionally abusing me and it lasted until I was well into my teen years. I would never open up to anybody about it because I was persistent to move past it. But, after awhile people started noticing a major change in my attitude and lack of interest in anything. I started lashing out at people and getting into fights. I was spiraling deeper and deeper into the depths of my depression. But, all the gloomy details I'll leave out. After all was said and done, I got the help I needed and then a couple months before my 19th birthday I started talking to the woman I'm now engaged to and we've been together ever since. I just turned 25 two days ago. This song helps me alot and I've let it all go. But there are still times that my past gets to me, that's when I just fall into my fiance's arms and let her be my rock when I need help. This song hits home so I know and understand everything Kane is talking about. I've been through it and I survived it. So, thank you so much for this song Kane.

I would like to send a thank you out to Kane for writing this. As a survivor of childhood abuse this song touches my soul. I spent years learning how to forgive someone who was never sorry. It's one of the hardest things I have ever done, but there is a point you realize it is only hurting you to hold on to the pain. No the pain does not actually leave, it is a part of us. I found that the anger left though and I finally felt a calm inside me. By letting it go I found that I freed myself.

He caused me so much pain, I hated him wished him to die more than I could ever count, I thought I had put the molestation way bk in my head , but now I'm 49yrs old it has started coming bk up, I could have turned to drugs, but God had other plans for me!! He blessed me with 4 healthy children, they gave me something to live for, wake up and bust my ass to make sure they had what they needed, wasn't always the best , but I gave my. When i was little, a member of my family, with whom i still have to live, harassed me from time to time. it was hard sometimes, remembering it, and worse it seemed no else remembered it happening, which made me doubt myself. now i m working on letting the past in the past, build a good relationship with my body, set boundaries so i feel respected and dignified, and this song really helps, because i cant change the past but i can change my present and my attitude towards my story so that i am not a victim, i am strong, i will not use the bad sides of my story as excuses for self hate or self sabottage. i will work hard on myself by myself for myself to achieve my own little corner of the world where i can be in peace and content. i hope you too can be strong enough to overcome the badness and find light in your life. thank you

When I was 4 my dad left me, when I was 6 he beat me. Almost 8 years offer he left I am still remembering this. Now everytime I think of my dad I turn on this song. To make things worse I am special needs with autism as my main condition. I may have short term memory loss but I will never forget that day, but even if things never change I will still have this song. Ik I will use this song for the next hundred years until I pass. I can relate to this song because I was in a similar situation when I was a little girl and I'll tell you a little bit about it and when I was 7 years old my mom got married he thought he was the greatest guy in the world until he started hitting her and me I had to call my grandma to come save us again my grandma always protected me and loves me so I am so happy that there is songs like this out there that people can relate to in their lives

When I gave birth to a bi-racial baby. I could NEVER foresee the problems I made for her. She was shunned by both races. Hurts my heart. She’s 22 now, and she is beautiful, funny, smart, independent. But I made sure her stepfather treated her like his own. And he sees her as his daughter to this day. I love him.
