Great to see footage of the old sports ground dressing rooms . Remembering they all must accommodate 3 grades - max 55 players permitted I was graded early 1990s so never got to play at many of the ye olde grounds like this video , other than Henson Park / Pratten park. Belmore oval , away SFS rooms And Lidcombe oval . It was a race for hot water at the end and a safe locker / bench before the game At time we would have to share showers like at Henson. But it all was nostalgic . Pratten park is like a Time Machine , but not lacking facilities / room . Hood rooms for their age Lidcombe, whilst a damaged mess, is large with nearly 50 thin lockers and good showers . The away side didn’t even have enough benches to sit . The cold ground was popular The away rooms at old Redfern were pathetic . Down a race and right into a dreary room . Crowds can yell into the room, like Belmore Crowds can listen to half tine coach blow ups All those old grounds dressing rooms I’ve used have the spirits of all the greats . The greats , who would be interviewed at end of game in the shower holding a beer can . The feeling cannot be expressed My old coaches would tell us of the tin sheds of Cumberland oval , sports ground , Redfern oval , old Kogarah oval stand/rooms , Old Leichhardt oval was running east to west, . They shanked the direction and main stands are now behind the goal posts . Thus the old dressing rooms are still there but now behind the goal posts with functional ye olde dressing rooms . They are magical with its history Current away rooms at Kogarah oval are pathetic / small . A kitchenette , few lockers , toilets and approx 8 open shower faucets . How did they manage 3 grades - 55 players ?? On game day . I would watch the lower grades wait out the back , which our home ground has mass room The secret lower grades used dressing rooms in the SCG Churchill Stand . When saints used the scg as its home ground - the reserves / u23s would use these little known rooms The original 1988 Sydney football stadium. Away rooms were pathetic Home rooms had a cold pool/ hot bath / spa , large warm up area , individual portals and numerous strapping rooms . On its opening night - big league outlined the anger of some players , who went and changed in their cars (saints v easts rd1 1988) I was told the Sports Ground was the “tin shed rooms “ very humid . But the crowd facilities were great massive hill, plenty of seating The sports ground and Henson park had the largest grassed hills of a sports ground in the southern hemisphere- jets now own that record Bring back three grades on game day
The 2nd game of footy I ever saw live - I went the week before to see Easts at home beat the Eels 6-3. Easts had a great team coming together and after hardly winning a game in the 1st half of the season win the minor premiership and made it all the way through to the Grand Final.
Min weight training , lots of beer. Poor diets / personal habits like smoking cigs and pot But mostly they had hard jobs mon - Fri , then add training . They are now pampered babies , even the referees call the players by their first name and orchestrate a game The 1986 touring team , did weights least once a week . I lift 5 days a week . Jack Gibson went to nfl teams and brought wright training to parra Parra never had a great pack (other than price ). They played as a team and lifted weights Look at them shirtless, no fat , but min muscle . I love wright lifting , which started with my old SG ball side . I had more muscle than the old players by the time I was 18 over 6 foot , 95kg fullback / 5/8 or lock

That solo try by Ken Wright was brilliant
Great nostalgia too bad they cut out the old adds. Interesting to see Rick Chisholm run around he was half back for Harbord when I was a Belrose prop
Why did players look 50 years old back then
