Can you PLEASE find a way to get Josh on the show? I just want to hear him talk about gear and all the weird shit he has in his collection and you guys are definitely the best candidate for that!
I think the "problem" with the space station was that it wasn't an instant gratification machine. To really get these effects to work in your songs, it took a little more work and creativity. I remember a good friend of mine got one dirt cheap on a blowout sale. We spent hours messing around with it, but i never felt like i had to have my own.
Got an xp400 for $30 6 years ago that only needed a recalibration. I traded Josh at jHS an xp100, 200, and 400 as well that year. All of which were found cheap for this issue alone. Hahahaha favorite video of yours ever.
I forever regret selling my Space station. I bought one back in the early 2000's and did some of my first recordings with it on bass, what a great pedal. Digitech does make a pedal named the EX-7 expression factory which basically has a lot of the features of the older digitechs, I've never used one but they're still available abd look like a wah wah
i bought mine in the early 2000s at a used instruments shop for $75. i tested it at the shop and had to have it. ive kept it all these years. Love it! The octave reverb, strings are amazing. the portamento setting is awesome. all awesome!!!
thank you pedals and effects gang. i got it and i can't live without the forward stop reverse setting anymore. im actually ordering a second xp1000 for vocals mhhhh yeah
16:15 just to clear something up here. It was the middle 90s, there were plenty of us who knew EXACTLY what to do with that pedal. Problem was we had all spent our money on Phish shows, raves and other awesome 90s stuff and couldn't afford the dang thing. ;)
Love the video on the digitech Space station, any chance of making a pdf of the recalibration table with precise instructions re the power supply burns out? i live in Santiago, Chile where it's 220 with Constant power surges due to the irregular voltage
I bought one of these when they were originally in stores. I hated the power supply for so many years and eventually just started using the Line6 power supplies that they make for the POD, it's called a PX4G? That one is totally built with nice thick road-worthy wires and puts out the same AC voltage. Works for the newer RP500 too.
Interesting I remember they where all in the same price range when they came out about 100-200 new. These where famous when korn came out, but Kirk Hammett has used the space station in the studio also on St Anger.
Got an ex7 just to get the synth swell setting Nick uses on Snake Lake. After a day the harman supply blew out and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. To think that's only 1/100 things the space station can do is mind boggling.
Just to let you know that not everyone has the same opinions, and Although I have nowadays 2 original Digitech WH1 original whammy's I still have and use my Digitech XP-100 Whammy Wha, it's the one in my pedalboard and I love it, It's a great unit.
I have an oooold RP-5 guitar processor pedal board that has the whammy function but its response time is lagy, you have to anticipate what you want to do with the expression pedal in order for it to be on time. Do the RP-200 300 and so on have that problem?
Vernon Reid made me aware of the Space Station - then a friend who worked in a Brooklyn rehearsal studio found one that had been left behind and unclaimed and gave it to me.
I remember seeing this in the Musician's Friend catalogs back in the day and I was always interested in it but I never picked it up. I didn't even really know what it did, there were no online demos at the time.
Yeah, I'm that guy! Freaked over it when it came out, saved up n got it... Became the staple of my stereo rig back in 99... Can still by that band's first CD on cdbaby! Lol
miss mine now :( they were hyped all the way back in the early 2000s, I remember selling mine for $350 back then, I think I paid like $280 for it. The stuff that bugged me back then was: the buttons and getting from patch to patch kinda sucked with it. Weird digital clipping.
Hi people, I have a space station too and I wanted to calibrate it and read the manual in pdf online to know how and it does not work, I have a ''ER'' message all the time and I can't skip the calibration and there is a super little amount of sound coming out of the pedal. Can anyone help please?
Hello, I've just purchased a brand new Digitech XP-200 and would like to get the same volume swell as on your XP-200. ( time 13:33 / 27:47 on your video ). I walked through all the presets but have no clue how to create a volume swell. Kind regards, Marcus at BEP
Dude i saw a multi play at GC for 75 bucks! And i was too broke to buy it, came back a few days later and it was gone.. so bummed. They go for like 400 online!
i gave a shit back then, lol. and i was in middle school! my parents thought i was crazy making alien noises in my room all day/night. super cool to use for dance music production as well :)
It says on your website that you can't mod the xp100 I have one right here in my hand that's modded with the XP all jet mod so they can be modded I dunno who said you couldn't you swap the eprom chip to mod em mines got four stacked together and selector knob you have to power it off and select the programs you want mine was 400$ and a space station is like 700$ right now
PATAGONIANRATS Who exactly are you? Is this Nick? I guess if anyone would know it would be you, saw you guys supporting tfot a couple years back at the knitting factory.
*** YOU CAN MOD THE WHAMMY XP100 *** make it an XPall It's just a fuckin BITCH to mod that thing. My buddy did it and it's pretty awesome, but he had to rip his hair out for months
There was a lot of digital gear released in the 90s that failed to catch on because it didnt sound 'analog' enough to guitarists.. I remember there was a ton of 'virtual' analog synths released that you pick up for peanuts now and The first of the modelling amps - the Johnson's came out too, same thing.. didnt catch on. Weren't they bought out by digitech too btw? Yeah, it's easy to sign your name on a petition, but if a company is going to spend 100s of thousand of dollars prototyping, beta testing and releasing a product , they cant have like only a hundred people buy them, no bueno.
these demos would more interesting if there was a drum machine to play along with so we could hear the latency issues and whacky non tweakable timing problems that plagued this era of units.

21:00 So that's how you play System Preferences. The first track on Tera Melos' newest album.
Shit blew my mind
Totally wasn't expecting that
That’s an insane fucking sound
It sounds like a rainbow Machine!
imagine just casually being friends Josh Klinghoffer
Also the tuner in this thing is crazy accurate, I tuned my guitar to 440 with this then checked it against my polytune and it was pretty much spot on.

They (Digitech) should really consider reissuing the Space Station. Or all of them. Or a 4-in-1. Prolly wouldn't be "the same". But still.
It would be better if anything.
They did the Bass Whammy. No reason they can't swap a board or two or whatever.
I think you are onto something here, sir.
Actually I talked to a Digitech Rep about this. Turns out to remake a space station specifically is touuuuuuuugggghhhhhh
@@austenomar2218 indeed, i asked about a remake of the whammy 1 and 2 but they said they original software is owned by IVL
Got a Digitech EX-7, with that exact pitchshift algorithm,....just like that, RIGHTEOUS !!
I forever regret selling my Space station. I bought one back in the early 2000's and did some of my first recordings with it on bass, what a great pedal. My favorite thing about this video is the Monster Vision when Nick is messing with the pedals while Juan plays.
I bought my xp300 in 1996, sold it and now I'm on the hunt again!! they are amazing!
I bought this pedal at Elderly Instruments about 20 years ago. Paid $85 for it used. Now they go for around $500?
It's an AMAZING pedal. So much fun!
I think this video is one of your absolute best.
I still have mine from back in the day. Got it when I was like 14. Never knew it was such a rare find.
So awesome to see Digitech getting props and new sound experiments ✌️The EX7 is a semi-reissue and really cool too.
when Juan takes over it sounds like Aphex Twin!
"With the sparkly top-end and shit" hahaha i love how nerdy they are about effects, its so fun to watch
Digitech should consider doing a kickstarter for it, if only for the sole reason of guaranteeing sales.
You guys should check out the EX-7. It has the space station setting in addition to many other expression functions.
16:15 just to clear something up here. It was the middle 90s, there were plenty of us who knew EXACTLY what to do with that pedal. Problem was we had all spent our money on Phish shows, raves and other awesome 90s stuff and couldn't afford the dang thing. ;)

why not run all 3 together??? the sonic curiosity!!!
Fuuuck, I wish I had friends who geeked out over pedals like this! Haha.
Aaron Folkrod me and you both, bud
love the whole "oh yeah got it off josh klinghoffer."
The XP-100 CAN in fact be used.
He's half right. There are two different types of xp100. One of them doesn't have enough RAM for the other chips. It's a gamble to do it with an xp100
@@KCruB3ast1 you can buy dip sockets and install more ram, I plan on doing it when I get all parts
Interesting I remember they where all in the same price range when they came out about 100-200 new. These where famous when korn came out, but Kirk Hammett has used the space station in the studio also on St Anger.
Hello guys I have a space station and ended you using a line 6 pod adaptor to power it up.
This pedal works great with Modular gear.
i saw one in Seattle one time but it was either buy it or have enough money to go home
Should have stayed in Seattle.
Always crazy, always awesome!
have one. bought it when they first came out
Got an ex7 just to get the synth swell setting Nick uses on Snake Lake. After a day the harman supply blew out and I haven't gotten around to replacing it. To think that's only 1/100 things the space station can do is mind boggling.
i own a xp100 and it's totally rad. use it all the time soo whacky!! also just signed the petition :-)
So is there any online documentation on how to convert the 400 into a 300?
I bought a digitech ex-7 just for the space station effect. Now I can cover "Snake Lake" by Tera Melos and I even made an original song with it!
That pedal is SWEET!!!!!!
Just to let you know that not everyone has the same opinions, and Although I have nowadays 2 original Digitech WH1 original whammy's I still have and use my Digitech XP-100 Whammy Wha, it's the one in my pedalboard and I love it, It's a great unit.

I love you guys

You can totally mod the xp100!! Some would say it's easier than the others because there is more room inside for upgrade parts.
Just google "xp-all", "xp-all+", or "xp-allin"
thanks for getting the bass out, more bass fx!MORE!BASS!
I bought one brand new and it’s been sitting in the corner for years..had no idea they are now going for £700-£900 !
Had one in the 90's. Bought on clearance. It was a novelty pedal and most people didn't want or like them.
Yeah, I'm that guy! Freaked over it when it came out, saved up n got it... Became the staple of my stereo rig back in 99... Can still by that band's first CD on cdbaby! Lol
Do a video on the Boss RPS-10 mini rack pitch shifting delay with a remote foot switch and hold button :)
If anyone ever has the chance to buy this pedal I highly recommend it its just awesome.
15:22 Montreal Assembly can kind of do that with an expression.
miss mine now :( they were hyped all the way back in the early 2000s, I remember selling mine for $350 back then, I think I paid like $280 for it. The stuff that bugged me back then was: the buttons and getting from patch to patch kinda sucked with it. Weird digital clipping.
Hello. great video. can you tell me the measurements of the original adapter "plug" of your Digitech Xp-400? please.
Hi people, I have a space station too and I wanted to calibrate it and read the manual in pdf online to know how and it does not work, I have a ''ER'' message all the time and I can't skip the calibration and there is a super little amount of sound coming out of the pedal. Can anyone help please?
that pedal is very musical, nice
amazing video!
is there a way to convert a XP300 to a Xp400? or have the sounds from the XP400 to the XP300?
Hello,
I've just purchased a brand new Digitech XP-200 and would like to get the same volume swell
as on your XP-200. ( time 13:33 / 27:47 on your video ).
I walked through all the presets but have no clue how to create a volume swell.
Kind regards,
Marcus at BEP
+pedalsandeffects Love you guys and all your videos! Want some more videos with that Jerry Jones double cut away Nick!!!
i wonder what a synth would be like through this pedal. in the process of getting my XP modded.
not that great, honestly. ran my moog and dx7 through and it was rather lackluster. the space station is best suited for guitar, i think.
big ups for the PRUNES n CUSTARD \m/
EX-7 has not only the Space Station but also a decent rotary speaker setting and is 1/2 the price and doesn't take but 3/4 of your pedalboard.
Digitech is stupid af for having not reissued this.
do a episode on other good, affordable multi fx pedals if there are any
you had the horror soundtrack stuff going at the end
why does that bass neck shine brighter than my future?
This video makes me wish I hadn't sold mine years and years ago :(
russell medeiros right there with ya. I bought it when it came out.
What kind of guitar is that Nick?? Like a Danelectro DC-59 style but obviously different
Its a jerry jones
+albert Hviid thanks man. I have the same Danelectro and it sounds great for NOS pickups and only like $400
The time stop reminds me of the red panda tensor.
is there any other pedal, that does the sound from 18:55 - 19:10?
Actually, you can mod XP-100.
I got 4 in 1 XP-100. Probably, it XP-1000 now, and this pedal work just fine.
Dude i saw a multi play at GC for 75 bucks! And i was too broke to buy it, came back a few days later and it was gone.. so bummed. They go for like 400 online!
They finally start playing the damn things @13:30
Does anyone know if any modern pedal like Strymon that can achieve those expression controlled string sounds of the Space Station?
Probably not or everyone would be after them.
Can it be modded for 220 and protect it from surges with a fuse?
The pulsating noise in the background is really annoying :/
I’ve got one of these.
I was disappointed.
It won’t do an authentic queef.
eventide pitch factor on bass pleaseeeeeee!
i gave a shit back then, lol. and i was in middle school! my parents thought i was crazy making alien noises in my room all day/night. super cool to use for dance music production as well :)
Bought one in 99" it was cool as fuck. Still have it somewhere. Fun times.
I bought mine as well in 1999, awesome, still have it, but maybe not for long
I just got an XP200 from a friend that needs repair. Anyone know where I can send it off to?
how do you calibrate the xp300?
NEW ANGLE HYPE
It says on your website that you can't mod the xp100 I have one right here in my hand that's modded with the XP all jet mod so they can be modded I dunno who said you couldn't you swap the eprom chip to mod em mines got four stacked together and selector knob you have to power it off and select the programs you want mine was 400$ and a space station is like 700$ right now
You guys have to get Thomas Erak on the show.
not in one million years. he's a tool.
PATAGONIANRATS Not for his personality. But for his guitar skills and pedals. I think most people know he is kind of a weird person.
+Alex Padilla not really into having assholes on. and he has a couple of delays pedals and a whammy. nothing special
PATAGONIANRATS Who exactly are you? Is this Nick? I guess if anyone would know it would be you, saw you guys supporting tfot a couple years back at the knitting factory.
15:15 is so fuckin cool, I NEED THIS PEDAL
13:42 Sunburn! :D
Amazing shit!
I'm a lucky owner of this pedal!!!
haha the bass through the space had the korg miku tones first lol
Oh shit! My roommate has the xp300!
*** YOU CAN MOD THE WHAMMY XP100 ***
make it an XPall
It's just a fuckin BITCH to mod that thing. My buddy did it and it's pretty awesome, but he had to rip his hair out for months
+The Sunshine Group thats the one where you have to solder on the SMD chip, right?
Rob Lockley hahaha yeah
josh klinghoffer is such a cool guy
I was a tech at Harman and replacing the chip is not enough to mod the units.
+Jorge Quinones its the chip along with a couple 64k memory chips (D41464C or something like that)
There was a lot of digital gear released in the 90s that failed to catch on because it didnt sound 'analog' enough to guitarists.. Anyone know which Supro that is?
Black Magick
It's like if the turtle from finding Nemo had a music channel.
I guess this box is fine if you're on budget. But, if you have the money, the Pitchfactor can do everything this pedal does and more...
these demos would more interesting if there was a drum machine to play along with so we could hear the latency issues and whacky non tweakable timing problems that plagued this era of units.
17:53 Juan's SS DOES sound different from the previous two, probably because it was cranked a little more.
