My mirror doesn’t unfold all the way. They’ve been on for 2 weeks. How can I fix that?

I noticed that there are "tow mirror support brackets available" if the factory mirros where not tow/extendable style. Do I need those additional support brackets to instal tow/extendable aftermarket mirros? Or can I get by without them?
