Love The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It’s one of my favorite books ever. To me it was reminiscent of fairytale.

i looooveeee the ocean at the end of the lane. i reread it last fall when i was going through something really upsetting and it helped comfort me. the scene where he stays inside the circle despite all the evil trying to tempt him out, that stuck with me. such a unique novel that is sad, nostalgic and just oddly inspiring.

I’m intimated by bigger books as well and also prefer shorter books; like no more than 300 pages. I would love to be in wonderland having some tea as well lol 😂 love your choices

I have been wanting to pick up the Wayward Children series. I tend to read super long books, so picking up shorter books has been appealing to me lately. I just finished the whole Binit Trilogy and it was super short and really a great sci-fi world. Somehow I didn't know that Chocolat was a book, I loved the movie and now I want to get the book.

I just got a fantastic Neil Gaiman boxset including Coraline, The Graveyard book and Fortunately the milk, it’s amazing.
I love the Wayward Children series, I love Every Heart a Doorway so so much but they are all fantastic xx
Another Neil Gaiman I have that is short is The Sleeper and The Spindle, that book is beautiful
I used to nanny Alan Lightman’s grandkids but this is the first time I’ve seen his book on booktube. ❤
I got Summer of Salt with my huge Christmas haul. I was thinking of bringing it with me on the plane ride to California at the end of this year. I also have The Toy Makers, by Robert Dinsdale which I started a while ago and never continued. I'll have to start that one over because I remember nothing. Only 1 chapter so it's not that much to reread.
I may end up buying a bunch of Neil Gaiman books in California. His name keeps popping up in so many videos I've been watching. I saw the Coraline movie and loved it despite being creepy in a way. I saw it in 3D and thought it was amazing.

A new favorite short book of mine is The Very Very Far North by Dan Bar-el. It is an adorable middle grade with life lessons and it gave me Winnie the Pooh vibes. Another one of my favorite short books is Fantastic Mr. Fox

I feel a lot of people have less time to simply sit and read, nowadays. My short book recommendations are: Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck; Animal Farm, Orwell; Heart of Darkness, Conrad; Gatsby, Fitgerald; Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury; The Stranger, Albert Camus; Pnin, Nabokov; The Double, Dostoevsky.

I absolutely agree. For some reason I think Summer of Salt would be a good one to pick up if you liked Chocolat- but if you loved Chocolat for the amazing food descriptions, sadly it is one of a kind❤️
