I had the S1 for a year, I called them and they are sending me a 1 time replacement from the S1 to the S2, customer support was really easy to work with. Im having the same situation that you are having. great video, thanks for sharing ...
@@RonWigginton-d1c I pray we don’t have to talk to them anytime soon and I hope the product works as advertised as of right now I’m not that optimistic . Thank you for watching and I appreciate your comment.
Hi, I bought the S2 a couple of months ago to monitormy new pool. The cassette that came with the unit was defective, not reading properly. Customer service I will say is A+. They sent me a new C5 which works fine now, however, only the FC and PH seem to be accurate when compared to a Taylor 2006 kit. CH is off by almost 100, CYA off by 50 and TA off by 40. Everyday I have to manually adjust those off parameters manually. I left them a review with this info this week and to my suprise they emailed to apologize. They asked how many tapes I have left and said they are happy to announce a new c5 cassette about to be released but no actual date yet. For now I am happy that at least the PH and FC are on point. Hopefully their new tapes will be more accurate. Thanks for your videos.
I had a similar issue when my S1 just quit working. They sent me an S2 like you without a warranty. Now my S2 seems to be going through batteries like crap through a goose. I like the concept of the device, and love that I get my little text even when Im traveling. I do periodically use a test kit AND test strips just to make sure all is ok. So far so good! I just hope they continue to upgrade the device to makenit more bullet proof.
I had an issue with a C5 cassette not reading CYA and high CH readings. WaterGuru's response was "While our FC and pH pads use custom WaterGuru proprietary chemistry, the TA and CH pads we are using are currently unmodified, direct from the Test Strip manufacturers, while the CYA pad is a hybrid." "While you can continue using the C5 cassette to monitor pH and FC levels effectively, please note that the results for CYA, CH, and CA may not be as precise at this time. As an alternative, we recommend using the C2 cassette for monitoring your chemical parameters until further notice. Of course, you are welcome to use the C5 cassette if it better suits your preferences." So not worth the money if you can't trust it.
I bought a Sense 2 for our new pool, but then we ended up using a pool service. I left the Guru in for a double check, and also just out of curiosity. The Guru was never consistent with its measurements, and did not match up with the measurements from the pool service. It kept me too worried, so I took a sample to Leslie's for a tiebreaker measurement. Leslie's numbers matched the pool service. I finally just took the WaterGuru out. I wish I had not spent the money on it.
Going on month 2 with S2 and like it so far. Needed help with an issue and customer service was a good experience for me. Noticed that C5 cartridges have been out of stock... Hope they get them back in stock soon....
They just had a huge shipment. I bought some myself. The customer service has been great. I’m just skeptical of the unit lasting! Thank you for the comment though
@@AviatorsGarage You posted this yesterday and by today, 06/14/2024, the website shows out of stock and a phone call verified it! They are sure having issues with those C5 cartridges.
Only ever had sense 2. I use the c5 cassettes during swimming season and c2s during winter I've had mine over a year with zero issues. I knew it was monitoring only because I can read.
I have s2. Bought it for a vacation home and only there on weekends . Pretty much matches my Tayor k0006 with O.1 on ph, but shows chlorine about 1.0 higher. The fact I can watch the pool 100 miles away is great.
So far i haven't been disappointed. Thy CYA values are completely borked like Kevin mentioned. It saves my knees a little bit for general testing. But you still need to do an actual measurement occasionally to really fine tune things. Im relativley new to the pool game. But it saves me a little bit of time which is precious.
@@AviatorsGarage we'll see how long it last. My dad and brother both have one and they appreciate it for what it is. It's by no means a fully automated solution. But it fills a gap so far and hasn't fritzed out on me.
Just checked the unit and it’s stopped checking in with 15 days of tests left and 94% battery… it’s causing me to waste time on trouble shooting it. In the long run paying someone to take care of my pool has been way better. These water gurus are a great concept but don’t last at all…
Does it advise you on how much chemical to add based on the test results? Or is there an easy online reference for those of us more challenged at pool maintenance?
It absolutely does. It tells you how many cups of whatever chemical that you need to put in your pool so that it will be balanced however it’s more of a generalized measurement based on how many gallons your pool has.
I just had a talk today with Pinch a Penny about adding a chemical tester to my Intellicenter. The cost would be a lot like you pointed out about the Pentair system. I spoke with the guy about the WaterGuru and he said he heard of it and worth a try. Your video has made me make the decision to stay away from it. I will stick with bringing my water to Pinch a Penny.
I’m sorry I wish I had a different experience so people could kind of try it out. I’m just fully expecting this WaterGuru sense 2 to fail on me. I’m hoping that maybe it can be promising and I can report within six months that it’s actually doing quite well. Right now I don’t have any faith in it. But I do appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
I suppose you could but that sounds like a huge pain. You might as well just a drop kit to test your water. It will be faster than putting in batteries… waiting for unit to boot up… then 8-10 minutes for a water reading
Can you report on the measurement accuracy of the S2 (or even S1) against the DIY drop kit? There's no mention of that in your videos. Even if the unit is operational forever, there's no point in it if it's not accurate. Thanks!
I've had the S2 since it came out, has worked great, much better than the Sutro i tried when they were in beta. S2 has neen accurate for the most part, only reading I question is cya but water has been real warm in CA.
Thanks for both informative videos on the Waterguru. I have been contemplating the purchase of a Sense 2 but can't find ANY information regarding the longevity of the device. Please consider offering updates to this topic regarding your experience with the newer Sense 2. Did they fix the issues or not? inquiring minds want to know.... 😉
Absolutely! I’m in the first two weeks with unit. So far so good. I will definitely do an update video for everyone. I’m hoping I get at least 4 months out of it lol!
I'd be really interested in a comparison of chrlorine, ph and CYA results with 2 other methods (drip/shake test kit and Leslies). I recently had Leslie's test my pool water (Houston) after a 2/3 drain/refill to reduce CYA. 1st test after refill said calcium hardness was 166ppm (200-400 recommended range). I put in 8lbs of "hardness plus" (1/2 the recommended), and today they retested and it said 162ppm. So their tests aren't exact either... Anyway this Waterguru unit is very tempting assuming it's sufficiently accurate and reliable. Have subscribed to see updates. Thanks!!
Yeah, I’ll go ahead and see if I can put a video together with a drop test. I was just so frustrated but the first unit that I just went straight to the point about how I feel like this things’s gonna fail on me.
