It is for sale. I guess the price for it is around £3,2m. For that price you get only 2-3 new waterslides if you build a new waterpark but here you get the full waterpark with 10 slides, a wave pool, lazy river, restaurant and much more! I traveled over 1000 km per plane only for this waterpark. And why? Because it is under my top list of waterparks ever made. In 1993 it was the record holder regarding the amount of indoor waterslides in Europe. It was something completely new! 2001 the Abyss was added, also a new thing.
It's owned by Serco, and they are still paying the mortgage on the building, so no chance they will knock off the security anytime soon. They bought it from the original owners years ago and had the intention of changing it into gym/fitness facility, but the contract stated it had to remain a water park. Serco had 0 interest in investing in it, so it slowly just fell to disrepair. Now it's shut down, and they still foot the bill for the building. It's a real shame and Serco are a bunch of bastards.
@@LeaTurner I couldn't really say for sure, but to speculate it's most likely that whoever owns the building it must remain as a water park, how long that clause will last in the contract I have no idea. Plus the state of the economy there aren't any big outfits willing to front the cost of repairs alongside the caveats of the contract.
Class video, class channel, and absolutely class memories of Wet n Wild, Kamikaze, Black Hole, and 'speed night' when they gave you the mats which apparently made you slide faster. Was always a gamble getting there as a kid, legging it to and from the Metty station, and the rumours of the locals hammering nails into the slides, and throwing bricks/glass over the fence into the lazy river 😂 The wave pool was mad as well, I remember hanging onto them ropes for dear life. If you were lucky and still had money left you went for some chips in the beach cafe. Great memories. Wet n Wild RIP 🙌
I have been to Wet n Wild three times in my childhood, first two times i went with boy scouts I loved it. Third time went for Father Day still love it but at that point I was old enough to notice how disgusting the place was (toilets especially). I am honestly surprised how they didn’t close sooner. I really enjoyed the waterpark but it was the cleanliness and hygiene which stopped me from returning.
Thank you for uploading this amazing and somewhat emotional to see inside one last time. Owned by a development company so no doubt it will be made into flats lets hope the meadowell faithful cause havoc when they are built hahaha
Used to love it when I was a kid growing up through the 90s. Was loving waiting till my little girl was up so could take her but it’s been shut down. Gutted
I remember going here the summer right before it closed. About early 2019, maybe? I didn’t really like the place but it still became a kind of tradition to go there in half terms and stuff. It’s weird seeing it and knowing the memories that I had there once. Especially since it always used to be so loud and busy, and now it’s so empty and still.
As I said to those other lads who got in the other day, I worked in the cafe for a crap summer job in 2010. Its weird seeing it frozen in time like that. Would've loved to see the cafe area and see how bad its gotten. also armed response? the other lads didn't get them. Police must be trying to amp up deterring people from getting in.
Yeh I had security, police with tazers, 2 armed police all in black, nd coppa with a dog, let me go tho, most rooms had nowt in them, so cafe was prob empty
It’s odd, I moved to the coast in late 2020 so missed this but it looks so similar to others dotted around the country I went to as a kid. Weirdly nostalgic. Nice one lad. As for the coppers, bit over kill the armed ones showing up. I regularly see the getting coffee up in Cullercoats so maybe they just chill around the coast line and jump on the odd job with others to show some muscle?
Was like a greenhouse in there, I was running around in pitch black, climbing over stuff, avoiding cameras nd motion censors, trying to do it quick before security came, I got caught by security, armed police and a dog unit, all for your entertainment 😉
Thank you for uploading this, it shows how much it has changed and I really do miss this place and grew up with this many times during the summer

Didn’t a little boy die there, because of a pipe or something?
