House there 19 years….,,Only bug bites I ever got was noseeum but just use spray, stay inside in the summer and the rain is quick but hard, get out of town during a hurricane if you can, in season stay away from downtown during weekend if you can, or go early bird, learn the short cut to avoid traffic, research HOA before buying, all around awesome place to have a home!!!! Love the theater going on 5 th!

Now that Hurricane Ian has passed through, what do you think about Naples now?

Naples has bigger problems than hurricane Ian. That came and went. In Florida we are well equipped to handle hurricanes and the aftermath.
What's killing Naples is the cost of living, insurance hikes, and all of these outsiders (like the fool in this video) who don't bring any useful talents, skills, or jobs to the area. All they do is consume and pollute.

Its Ironic that just a few months later Naples would see its most disastrous hurricane since 1935. You are correct that those of us who grew in Florida and have lived here for generations don't fret much. It is a fact of life that we have learned to deal with just like those you mentioned in Cali. I like most of the "natives" prefer the off season time. You wouldn't catch me anywhere near my hometown in season. Unless I have a family emergency. The best thing about my hometown is the people. Full of smiles and friendliness. We are just hospitable folks one of the few Southern attributes we haven't lost to the northern influx.

Naples is full of people from NY.. Need I say more. and BTW: Summer is so hot, you can't go out. Actually traffic is really hell. No embracing SW Florida.
Water in winter is 65 degrees, so you can't swim all year.

Naples is the place to settle in if u like a nice downtown, beaches and like to shop. Avoid if you play golf at public courses ( 98% private), high houses $$, crowded crazy drivers and hot June to October

Excellent video. We always enjoy all your videos, very good and useful content. Good narration. Regarding traffic: We have lived in Chicago, Atlanta & Miami… there’s no traffic in Naples 
If we may suggest? Once you introduce yourself, consider focusing the camera on the surrounding area so we can see all the scenery. Of course, we can still hear your commentary. Keep up the good work.

I am 42 and I think it's boring and very soulless. Too expensive for what it is as well, just strip mall after strip mall and it's just so hot. It's November and it was 93 degrees last week and it's 83 today. Just too hot all year around.

Yes it is a cultural wasteland. Tampa and St. Pete and Sarasota have a few second-rate museums and a symphony, but Naples and southwest Florida is about as cultural as a trailer park.

All these fools are going to get weeded out when property values begin to drop, but insurance and taxes continue to rise. And hopefully there isn't a hurricane in between. That's always fun.
A fool and their money soon depart.

2800 for a 3 bedroom with garage in a gated community? I think that’s less than what the equivalent in nyc would be. But you are compromising on access to culture, activities and convenience. Naples is definitely for people who enjoy siting in their car.

I lived in SoCal for 50yrs. We rarely have earthquakes and if we do, usually you don’t know about it
until you turn on the news or something and same goes with fires…, however, my concern for Florida
hurricane is normal event happens every year…, you can lose your entire home!!

@@mingdianli7802 I have a bunch of friends in Naples, and they are all back to normal. Check the gulf red tide levels. The beaches may not be open, so look up collier county beaches for the status. Other than that, I think it's ok.

FL is a state that is becoming a state for the wealthy only. Especially anywhere near the water . And after Ian is only going to get more costly , with not only property taxes going up but property insurance is a constant battle in this state , it has been for at least two decades with our elected politicians on the insurance side not the people's side. There should also be a cap on rent increases but when Tampa tried to do that last year , well that brought the Govonor whom threatened all municipalities from enacting a cap. Again caring more about the wealthy landlords then the average people that need affordable housing.

Florida native for 36 years now. Florida is a boom/bust state. Always has been, always will be. The market cycles are very pronounced here. During the first housing bubble in the mid 2000's, Florida enjoyed some of the highest equity gains of the country. Yet, it was ground zero in foreclosures during the recession of 2008+.
Right now you are seeing a repeat in that cycle. The bubble is on the verge of popping, and you will see the throes of the dip affect the market here in Florida greatly.
Things are going to normalize a bit in the coming years, like they did back in 2008-2014. But it's always ugly and painful for some. 🤷‍♂️ just got to weather the storm (no pun) and wait for the sunshine on the other side.

I left Florida for several reasons. I loved the sunsets and tropical foliage. I hated the bugs - those flying palmetto bugs (ugliest and meanest of the cockroach family) - fire ants, spiders, mosquitoes, gnats, flies, etc. The humidity was akin to steam room conditions. #10 - "nicer people"? Many are nice but I also encountered a lot of racists, homophobes and anti-Semites too. Don't try to glorify this state for it has as many "cons" as it has "pros."

    From a homeowners perspective...
very VERY expensive to live there
overzealous and controlling local government (has its upside but big downside)
    Poor public beach access
    and the worst thing...
a LOT (not all...but a LOT) of entitled people who think they're better than everyone else
