EastEnders - 1993-1994 "Jazzy" Theme (High Quality) | TV Version #1

- Now that Drama have aired up to the year 1993 of EastEnders, I thought I would post a high-quality version of the short-lived 1993-1994 "Jazzy" theme. It came in two variations: this one being the extended variation which was only used sporadically. The theme was very unpopular with viewers, hence its short-lived usage, however, there's something I admire about it and I believe it deserves to be heard in all its high-quality glory. So please do enjoy!

I still love this variation of the theme 💕
This theme tune grows on me it such a shame people moaned about it it was so jazzy I love this its gone back to original music now 1994 on drama but I like it
Yeah on drama they’re showing 1994 now
Hearing this for the first time on Drama channel. Have no recollection of it at all at the time 😀 Love it
I originally hated this music, but now, it's a favourite to mine.
I remember bits of the theme when I was little. But heard it on the Drama repeats and absolutely loved this jazzy theme.
Don’t no why people back in the 90s didn’t like it.
Typical british mentality of "We don't like change."
The best version the rest are rubbish
Too different to the original theme. Not only that, it just doesn’t fit with the show’s nitty gritty ethos.
Brilliant version, shame it wasn’t kept a lot longer.
So much better than the normal theme.
No it horrible
@@wresting9899 Everyone's allowed an opinion.
That my opinion
This is the jazz version of the end theme. It's pretty good 👍
0:24 and 0:55 best bit of the theme
The duff duff is a bit weird but I love it
Love this
It’s a beauty!
This theme would suit Stepney in Thomas and friends as he's more upbeat than the EastEnders characters and Stepney is in the East End of London.
I believe the watered down doof-doofs and the lack of a whistle at the end were the main reason people hated this theme. If the composer had retained those 2 elements the theme would probably still have been disliked by some but not nearly as much.
I know what you mean but I preferred the slightly watered down doofs, felt like a human drummer not a drum machine.
I respectfully disagree. They still would have complained. It’s a good theme.
The arrangement is in the style of Alf. Remember Alf?
He's back. In Pog form.
Im glad it dont sound like corrie any more 🤣🤣
This theme sounds more 96 - 97 related somehow, although music was going into a more new generation, this was ahead of time. I'll tell ya. I'm 8 and this somehow sounds well more further of time.
Terrible! Lounge music for the shoulder-pad generation. Not suited to a grimy soap opera set in a run down square - in my opinion, that is 🙂
I partially agree. However, Simon May remixed this version for his Autobiography collection and it sounds so much better. Dare I say _transformed...?_
@@Clavinovaman I'd like to hear that, thanks for the info. This version is stifled by its Nineties-ness, I think.
we have the original recording in full quality now! search simon may doof doof and you'll find it
