I kind of like it, but it does smack of some committee at the BBC thinking "we need to modernise it for the 1990s, throw in a hip-hop beat and a saxophone lick".
I first heard it in my mind when Queen Elizabeth died, i imagined if it was Eastenders as Woody.EXE hugged me after the Queens passing with the final shot of us 2 crying when it zoomed out from my bedroom window to the rainbow saying Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022. That would’ve broke the Eastenders fans down if it ever happened to our screens. It makes me cry thinking about it again
@@toonsterztrolldroadto3002 read a book. This is how the brain works. We're a lot more likely to remember smells and sounds (including music) than we are visual things, believe it or not. A smell will bring back stronger memories than a photo
The new 2009 one with the guitar or base one is my favourite it is very smooth ngl I like the ones from 1994 - 2009 and the original but I prefer the current one
The second one could definitely be a ringtone. I could just imagine eveyone with their Nokia phones. Then this banger starts playing when someone calls them.
Everyone hated it. The outcry was huge. I was only a small child but I remember it. You'd think they'd permanently changed the Queens wardrobe to tracksuits the way people kicked off. Have to admit, it does suck. More El Dorado than Eastenders.
Isn't it about time they changed the current intro? Apart from the slight tweak from 1st Jan 2012 to include the Olympic park, they've been using that same current intro since 7th Sept 2009. 13 years at the time I sent this comment. The previous intro was only used for a whole 10 years from 5th Sept 1999 to 4th Sept 2009 (give or take a day less). But then, Corrie and Emmerdale have also been using their current intros for over a decade too. Though a couple shots in Corrie's current intro were replaced at some point.
I was really hooked on it and then in typically lame PBS fashion they dumped it even though it was doing well and they'd been shamelessly fundraising off its fans.

@@wbaharryeven though i don't watch soaps the 2nd one isn't that bad
It’s like a timeline of the Docklands from 1985 till now. You can see the difference. Back in 1985, the O2 stadium was a huge factory!

Also in the second intro did anyone else notice the river was in a very strong shape, the strongest on fact.
Parodies from eastenders is good
Yup
Yep. Now that tune is permanently embedded into by brain.
Didn't really watch the show, but the soundtrack is so catchy and imprints itself onto my mind.

so many memories
Fun fact - the original titles were designed by the same guy who designed the BBC two ident from 1986-1991
The second intro is my favourite, they should bring that one back

EastEnders Turns 40th Anniversary Since 1985
Exactly how old Come and see is, it will turn 39 or 40 this July 9th. Happy 40th birthday, Come and See (1985)
Marvelous.

That 36 year tune
If you’re going to cut off the end of each one, why bother?
My favourite out of all the Eastenders intros
My top favourite is 1993
2nd 1985-92
3rd 1994-98
4th 1999-2009
5th 2009-present
