Awesome! Pretty much as I thought. I was using tongue oil for the last couple hand planes I made. But now I have some Danish Oil which I'm hoping is just as good as it's pretty similar I think.

Yep, just be careful to buff it out sooner....if you leave the danish too long, it'll go lumpy and tacky :) Let us know how you get on!

@@ottersurfboards Ta very much for the top tip. I'll put a coat on tonight (not because its cold...) and let you know in the next couple days how it looks.

A rule of thumb for tung oil is once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year. Of course you can use it in between!
I applied about 6 or 8 coats on my maple turntable plinth and was astounded at the gloss I got.
Once small point, don't leave oil soaked cloths scrunched up as there is a slight chance of spontaneous combustion; straighten them out as we don't want to see our handiwork go up in smoke.

Thanks John! That's a rule we tell our workshoppers when they leave with their bellyboard and handplanes and a bottle of oil - sound advice! And the rags too!!! We lay ours flat too!
