Awesome! Pretty much as I thought. I was using tongue oil for the last couple hand planes I made. But now I have some Danish Oil which I'm hoping is just as good as it's pretty similar I think.
@@ottersurfboards Ta very much for the top tip. I'll put a coat on tonight (not because its cold...) and let you know in the next couple days how it looks.
A rule of thumb for tung oil is once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year. Of course you can use it in between! I applied about 6 or 8 coats on my maple turntable plinth and was astounded at the gloss I got. Once small point, don't leave oil soaked cloths scrunched up as there is a slight chance of spontaneous combustion; straighten them out as we don't want to see our handiwork go up in smoke.
Thanks John! That's a rule we tell our workshoppers when they leave with their bellyboard and handplanes and a bottle of oil - sound advice! And the rags too!!! We lay ours flat too!

Yep, just be careful to buff it out sooner....if you leave the danish too long, it'll go lumpy and tacky :) Let us know how you get on!
