    the most beautiful sound from an amp. Ive had one for over 25 years and ive never heard better (although a matamp series 2000 i had was very good) and my marshall 50w lead bass is excellent but if had to take one amp to heaven this would be it. brilliant demo and playing ever though its 8 years ago!!

    This amp sounds so good only thing that concerns me is why do we find these amps under $500 I just want to know why they're so cheap? Is there anything wrong with them?

    • @Wardell43
      @Wardell43 5 років тому +3

      I didn't like the speakers, so I've got a couple of Celestion G12-100's and I put high dollar tubes in it.
      Now the be fair, Mine was misused so I put it in the shop and had new caps and a jack installed.
      I also replaced the grill cloth
      Other then that, It's heavy. So I built a Head cabinet for it, but it's back in the combo case now and sitting on top of a 212 Bassman cabinet.
      SO If you find one cheap, play it first!!!!
      My Amp repair guy says the chip boards are known to crack when bumped, But mine was abused and is 30 years old I've had it for about 8 or 9 years.
      So once the thing starts singing, it's a hard amp to beat. Here in the house, it's set on the 25 watt setting and the clean channel tone controls are set at 7 and the Treble boost is active. The Gain channel tone is treble 7, Mid 3.5 bass 3, presence +2 Gain is variable from minimal breakup to Stones to Montrose, Treble boost active, Reverb only on the clean channel.
      I like the amp, it's just heavy and I'm almost 68.
      The manual says to pull the Middle 6L6's and it become a 50/15 watt instead of 100/25 watt. I've never seen a Manual tell you to do that, also it says to half the imp. so that 16 becomes 8 or 8 becomes 4
      (DO NOT PULL ANY OF THE 12AX7S LIKE THE OTHER FENDERS.)

      They're inexpensive because they are heavier than all hell. They sound incredible and are built really well, so it's really all about the weight honestly. If we all could lift them no problem, these would be well over a grand used.

      The Fender amp purists tend to be a bit turned off by the pcb but as an owner of this exact amp I gotta say tonally it’s the best sounding and most versatile amp I’ve owned. I’ll never sell it, nor even move it from the spot it’s in as it weighs in at 88lbs lol

      Modern manufacturering, materials, and optimizing. But less serviceable. Vintage tone quality possibly sacrificed. And possibly won't last as long. Oh, and more environmentally green -- hippies in the 60's you know were environmental villians.

    Just picked up one these, I’m absolutely mind blown I got it so cheap. The tone and functionality are absolutely 1st Class Fender tube amp quality. It it heavy? Hell yes, but does it dish out that delicious Twin Reverb tone? Just listen to this. Mine sounds exactly the same. Beautiful hidden gem of the Fender amp line history. Buy one!

    This amp can do a lot of great tones. But you wouldn't know it from watching this video.

    you got those chops down bro.....I got marshalls,but I'm still hunting for the crisp fender tone,and the twin seems to cut it for me.....cheers from the UK.

    I'm going to buy one since I need a LOUD amp for the Nirvana Tribute band I'm going to be playing in (as the Pat Smear) and much of "Bleach" was recorded using a twin Reverb amp

    now there ya go. that wonderful tone...now, can it gain up, still clean, and have more core?

    • @Wardell43
      @Wardell43 5 років тому +1

      Yeah....but not as hard as you'd like.
      It's not a gain monster like my Laney Amps but it does it's own thing very well.
      If your a snob, then this probably isn't your amp, but if you are a snob, you wouldn't be asking.
      If you are learning and use pedals, It with be a decent investment. I don't use distortion type pedals and the gain is decent for what I do. Blackout-Scorpions ACDC All Nite Long.
      So if your not using a pedal, It does ZZ Top and ACDC well enough to put a smile on your face.

      Treble is about 10/11 o'clock, middle is 12 o'clock and bass is at around 2 o'clock. Im playing a Jimmie Vaughan Fender Stratocaster, I did replace the original maple neck with a John Mayer fender neck, pickups are original with the Tex Mex pickups

      I have the one with the red knobs. No debate from me about how heavy these amps are. Knowing a bit about the relationship between good tone and "head room" from the power supply, as well as the he size of the power transformer in the power supply, the extra weight is an expected price to pay.

    I own one of these also, clean channel sounds fantastic, do not like the dirty channel at all, to me its just sounds awful, grainy and low end muddy is about the best way to describe the dirt channel, But if you use a tube screamer or boss blues driver on the clean channel you can really get some seriously nice vintage dirty lead out of it.

    • @Wardell43
      @Wardell43 8 років тому +2

      +1991stratplus Cut the reverb slider button to off position and cut the tone controls back for the second channel. The reverb sounds great on channel one. This worked for me. It's also the theory on Crate Blue Voodoo amps that actually sound great. Do some tube and speaker research too. I use high dollar tubes and heavier wattage speakers. Ted Nugent used to use SRO speakers in his twins and many people use Altec and JBL speakers in traditional twins. It's a great amp it just needs to be tweaked.
