Best part IMHO is that they kept the joke running with him keeping different colored trousers. Lot of cartoons would just switch it back to the original ones after the first joke.
I love how the wolf wasn't the least bit bothered by his failed attempts to capture the dogs. And he wasn't kidding when he said he was going to be on television after his last attempt failed.

It makes a lot of sense for the wolf to portray a cowboy in a western. After all, he sounds as a Southerner.
Tex Avery was the ultimate in comedy genius and that wolf is just too cool for school. Meow man!

Tex didn't write the short. Nor did he write any of his MGM shorts other then The Peachy Cobbler. Heck Allen wrote this one. But it's to deny Tex's involvement just the same.

Droopy is smart enough to fool most characters and outsmart villains in the end. A true art of genius by Tex Avery. Great respect to a legend like him .

@@FuShengAlex walt targeted his stuff towards kids but even as a kid Disney never made me laugh but Tex sure did and as I got older he's just gotten funnier he knew how to balance adult and family humor and his MGM work is his best especially his early MGM stuff
@@FuShengAlex You want funny? Check out "Fractured Fairy Tales: Sleeping Beauty." The Prince in that story is actually a caricature of Walt Disney. Jay Ward was pouring it on against Disney, who didn't think it was funny; but it was one of the funniest and most sarcastic cartoons ever made.

Can we appreciate how Snoopy and Loopy are depicted as stupid, but are actually smart enough to rely on Droopy to handle the wolf, and even assist him at times? They didn't even fall for the cat puppet! They just watch as Droopy winds up the toy mouse and set it loose!
I never get tires Tex Avery's work cause his success on making good shows is definitely better then modern shows.

Hollywood had an extremely low opinion of television in those days.

The Old guard (the movie industry) searing at the new upstarts (TV) and becoming aggressively resentful of them due to their upcoming success and "taking their racket" figuratively speaking. Arguably, this is still going on with the current conflict between Hollywood and cable television and internet especially with streaming.

I ADORE this antagonist sooo much!! Such a chill attitude whenever he fails. And he's IMMEDIATELY accepting and cool with his pain and failures too and literally just whistles it off in a calm manner! And he's not afraid to throw in a funny remark here and there even after he felt all that suffering lmaooo

That wolf is easily one of my favorite characters of the Golden Age. I love how in any cartoons he appears in, the only time he ever looks genuinely evil is about his first-ever minute onscreen... and then from that point on he's just some super chill Appalachian dude

Honestly the wolf dude is definitely my type of man. I just love how chill and charming he his, not to mention hilarious too. Even while he's trying too obliterate Mr.Droopy. And he doesn't even get pissed when his plans fail. He just seems like the type of person who would be easy to have a nice conversation with. He's definitely a lot different than most cartoon wolf characters from this era. The VA did such an amazing job too. He has such a soothing southern voice that just melts my heart. Honestly his voice would've been a perfect voice for a character like Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer. 🐺💞 P.S. Props to the awesome animators too. 🎨🖌️
