Not a bad job Gordo. Love this Canadian songwriter/singer so. Rest in love Gordon. I will miss you so until my passing. Hope to see you on the other side.
Gordon Lightfoot as Joe Daniels. Even though this was during his “East Of Midnight” phase, Lightfoot could relate to this during his “Shadows” period in where he was trying to get help. He himself went through a heavy drinking period between 1976 and 1982. During that period he was already acting as Marshal Morrie Nathan in the movie Harry Tracy Desperado. This episode was filmed about 5 or 10 years too late when he was already sober.
True, by 1982 he was a wreck..overweight, drinking and smoking heavily..thankfully he kicked the drinking on labor day of that year. He quit smoking about two years ago so his body is now rid of the alcohol and cigarette smoke.
I love seeing these clips, but I have zero recollection of seeing him drunk or overweight. This was made, evidently, during the time I saw Gordon in concert the most! Its nice to see him smile. I ❤ him…warts and all. Especially that Canadian clear accent!! Thanks for putting this video together. Gordon is my Number one musician ❤ since 1970 thru eternity
The young actor there is actor Matthew Laderex, correct me on the last spelling of his name, who is best known as Albert Ingalls in the tv series, Little House On The Prairie.
Indeed! I noticed that to. Actor Mathew Laderex, not sure about the last name spelling, however he did indeed potray Albert Ingalls in the tv series Little House On The Prairie.
Gordon Lightfoot looks like a completely different person ever few years. Its kind of scary. Somehow, he always manages to look like Don Henley and Bryan Cranston at the same time. How can all this be true? Could they all be the same guy? lol
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way! Some say he looks like Chris Pratt in his BBC concert in '72'. Voice changes, too. I'd say this clip is the craggy, slim Lightfoot, after he gave up drinking and took up going to the gym everyday.
He also suffered from Bells Palsy In the early 70s which changed his facial features a lot and when he quit drinking in the early 80s he slimmed down alot
Awful close to reality. Life repeating itself. First time seeing him as actor. Met him in 1976 in his home after a concert and he looked well. Here he looked so thin.
Money and success changes the landscape of everything. Lightfoot,Joni Mitchell etc. They get a bail out for their mistakes. I don't feel sorry for Lightfoot or Joni Mitchell. Or any of the rich elite bullshit baby boomers. Money wins everytime is the only message I hear.
There will never be another voice like Gordon Lightfoot's. What a beautiful singer.

Canadian Musical Treasure!
RIP 🕊
A pretty good performance... after all, the subject matter hit pretty close to home.
My God, he was an awesome actor too...
Check out Harry Tracy if you haven't already. Great movie and great acting by Lightfoot.
Indeed my friend❤😊
Gordon did a good job in this episode. Thanks for sharing.
Gordon Lightfoot amazing poetry
1988 stay loose was only sung twice live a lesson in love 1988 sung 3 times

@@bluerazor7049This was due to his sister who helped him immeasurably. I did, indeed read about this and she saved his life in all of this.
@@danbasta3677 I did not hear about that so that is so lovely.

That dude is exceptional!
OMG! Albert Ingalls is Gord's son. Who would have known? LOL!

One of my most favorite and beloved artists ever!! Miss you Gordy...
Whisky and wine helps me pa-ss the time
He was a better singer than actor, but he was good at that too.

A young Brian Cranston !

I had forgotten about this appearance. Gordon was also in a movie with Bruce Dern called Harry Tracy and the Wild Bunch.
If they ever do a remake, get Andrew Lincoln to play James Brolins' character.

Lightfoot isn't a boomer, he was born in the 30s
Why don't you tell is how you really feel?
Somebody is hurting
@@hunterharrell7491 Joni is also too old to be a boomer - Both are members of "The Silent Generation" (1928-1945).
@@PHJimY that's what I was saying lol
