It's Canada's game. The rest of the world is simply honored to be a part of it and will forever be grateful to the nation of Canada and its people for showing us the greatest team sport on this planet. Gord is literally gold. Like hockey, he is also a true, Canadian treasure who always had messages of peace and kindness and goodness for all those who would listen. Thank you Canada...for hockey and for Gord.

Fortunately Gordie never made it as a hockey star every canadian boys first choice but he made it as an artist of beautiful Canadian soul music. He stands there with Bobby and Wayne, well i might say as modest as he is, just a little higher.

Yes, thank you very much (hvala) I met Gord in Vancouver in the autumn of '79 Queen Elizabeth Theatre...he invited all the fans that went backstage (outside door) to his hotel suite for drinks and chat about his music...he even walked me to my little volkswagen (w/his bodyguard) parked in the parkade across the road from his hotel suite (4 Seasons).

I always think of Gordon Lightfoot as being reserved and somewhat reclusive. This wonderful piece shows him as a warm, friendly humorous gentleman - kudos to the folks at CBC who managed to execute a fantastically revealing poetic essay of one of Canada's great icons. The question about how it feels to go before an audience was truly masterfully revealing.

I was 18 years old when I first saw Gordon play live at the Rebecca Cohn auditorium at Dalhousie University. I was fresh out of Cape Breton, with a beautiful girl from my chemistry class I had a huge crush on, and I had a hole in my cheap boat shoes. I was a fish out of water, nervous as hell, but when Gordon and his amazing band started playing, time literally stood still for me. I will never, ever forget that show as long as I live. R.I.P. Gordon ❤

What a great man. I watched him last night (2-20-15) in Macon, GA, which was probably the 15th time I've seen him perform (the first time was I think 1986 in Windsor, Ontario). His music is the soundtrack of my life growing up in Michigan. Gordy has changed so much over the years, from a grumpy alcoholic to a grateful survivor who returned from the brink of death with a whole different perspective on life. His voice may be a little weaker today, but his talent, his passion and his sense of humor are all alive and well. We're lucky to have him, and we're even luckier that he still likes to perform. No one would fault him if he wanted to take it easy. Long live Gordy.

i love Gordon Lightfoot. i have since i was 16 years old. i bought tickets to see and hear him in The Arie Crown in McCormick Place downtown Chicago and took my friend, a drummer and fellow music lover. i am a good friend. Generous. All my life i have enjoyed Gordon's creativity. And my brother was a hockey player and a racer, while i liked figure skating. i was a Nanny and the block's official babysitter and taught the children how to skate. You will love it down here Gordon Lightfoot. We have many Canadian Snowbirds down here all winter. That's people we call Snowbirds because they kinda migrate. lol Our Hertz Arena is a great big ice rink in SW Florida and they put a tarp down for concerts. We love you in Florida. Ya'all come on down now, ya' hear? lol Just don't book, following the Circus elephants. lololol

When I've talked to him about our Leafs and how bad they are at times he always says "Ya gotta love them, ya gotta love the Leafs!".. I do! My first born son is named after Darryl Sittler! Love that he still has his scrapbook of hockey cards from when he was around 13 years old. I'll see him in Orillia on Apr.20 and commiserate over another horrible Leafs seasonwith him..
