Congress is in a weird position. In Karnataka, they let Siddharamayya run the campaign, only making sure that he and DK Shivakumar work together and they won.
In Telangana, they gave Revanth Reddy the campaign reins - they won.
In both cases, local leaders running the campaign.
In Madhya Pradesh, they tried that with Kamal Nath, they lost, badly, terribly.
Now same in Haryana. Letting local leaders run their campaigns hasn’t worked.
The problem is that the number of losses is a lot higher compared to the wins. Not to mention, north of the Vindhyas where more than 50% of India lives, this effectively leaves Congress with no real power. Yes, they have Himachal, but given the scale and breadth of that state in comparison to the whole of North India, is it anything more than a consolation?
