I thought this was the stupidest thing when I first saw this in the theater. Lucas shouldn't stick everyone with new versions when he can't even make his own mind up. The man is insane. Luckily the tech exists for fans to despecialize them these days.
People don't scream when they jump, only when they fall or are pushed. I don't think the people who jumped from the Towers on 9/11 screamed. There was just the sound of the bodies hitting the ground.
the original version in 1980 had a different voice sound cue for when Vader falls off the edge of the chamber. It was more of a throaty, "Arrrrgglllhhh." The 'new' version is more of a "Ooommph." Nowhere as good, just like the "Bring my Shuttle" was perfect, but was changed to, "Please alert my Star Destroyer of my arrival."
Yes they did change some portions from the original theatrical release and we hear them say something different. Then on Return Of The Jedi when Darth Vader shouted NO when he had to throw the Emperor into the unknown. At the movie theater Vader never said no. He just turned against his master just by throwing him down into that hole. Right here when Luke screamed wasn t that actually Emperor Palpatine s scream?
@@jojovaldez2766that was one of the changes I hated the most was Vader’s NO. I feel like the scene is more powerful with Vader just grabbing and throwing the Emperor down
Ugh, what were they thinking? Adding Luke screaming as he falls down and using the Emperor’s scream from the third film. I’m glad they took it out in 2004 with the official DVD release of the movies.
That's something that should be a much bigger deal to people. The ignition sound originally played into how focused he was in the scene. The new sound just blurts it out. It's more like the ROTJ saber.
No, there was no scream. Only after they bastardized the content and added that part which was not part of the original cut. I was in the theater for both versions. And saw no value in the Scream scene. Nor in Han Solo’s (fired first) at Gredo in the planet cantina.
Actually the scream is the worst part. Luke commits suicide rather than going to the Dark Side. He finds inner peace and commits seppuku. However the scream changes all that and shows his fear rather than his acceptance of something larger ie The Force. Lucas was not a visionary and it's minor changes like this that prove it. The story is better without the scream.
@Riddler95 nothing really change here except for that but yeah i figured so just wasnt sure i do own the 1980s version but its not as old as this one however i will edit the title
+ADHD Gaming it was digitally edited to look better and theres an awful scream that luke does when he jumps (they removed it in later editions), so yea nothing special
Neat when you remember that Luke is using the same light saber that Vader last had when Obi-won nearly killed him.
Luke's scream is identical to Palpatines when Vader throws him into the abyss in episode 6 LMAO.

The force has some abilities that some people find unnatural such as copying someone else's scream
Luke: What Do You Want, Father 👨

At least this isn't the version where the auful color correction made Vaders saber look pink

@@jojovaldez2766That's what makes me think that this was fan edited instead of legit. Is the scream sounding like Palpatine

Because Lucas has OCD and just can't leave well enough alone
Vader: Come!
He has the Emperor's scream.

I know. Using the Emperor's scream didn't work for me ethier.
This is the movie version that I grew up with. And I just love it. Just love the yell when Luke falls.
when Luke falls ... on purpose (and he didn't yell in the original of 1980, either)
7:19 to 7:31 Something Similar to this happens in the Lego Star Wars Cutscene of This! Thanks For Uploading This!
Anyone notice that Luke's scream is the same scream used from ROTJ when Vader throws the Emperor down the shaft ??? lol
He has become the very thing he swore to destroy
This is my favorite scene in the empire strikes back
It pisses me off so bad they changed the ignition sound of Luke’s saber in the blu ray

Me too
Luke: Go Away!
It's not that big a deal, plus I like the other sound better
i was repairing a cassete tape player for my family n thought it be great to record this
Darth Vader: Good Evening 🌆🌇 Young Skywalker.
Luke turned into Palpatine for a brief moment
I think I would have taken Vader's offer ruling the galaxy as father and son
7:22 I KNEW IT! There was a scream when he fell. I was going nuts for years thinking, "Wasn't there a scream when he fell?". And there was. THANK YOU!
You’re welcome 😇

Right? I grew up with the 97 releases so the scream was a staple. Makes me glad that it was removed later on.
Look not yelling is how it should’ve stayed
2:13 Luke Shot First!!!!!!!
Luke Skywalker: I'LL NEVER JOIN YOU!
È una bellissima scena ❤

At least he reverted that back to how it was originally for the 2004 version onwards
His hand got severed. Would you have done the same if you fought Vader and he cut your hand off?
One can be a visionary and make small mistakes. No storyteller is perfect.
Obv he’s screaming, he’s falling down a goddamn pit, idc if it’s premeditated.
@@albert_01367Yeah, it’s totally normal that Luke Skywalker screams with Palpatine’s scream from Return of the Jedi.
It sounds a lot like Palpatine's scream from Return of the Jedi🤔
Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Vader is just playing with him like boxer light weight still fighting
@Riddler95 nothing really change here except for that but yeah i figured so just wasnt sure i do own the 1980s version but its not as old as this one however i will edit the title
The scream was to demonstrate that it wasn't a suicide ... Rather a MURDER
Thats the emperor screen in rotj
The scream is just him waking up. NO !!! It's that quick look around that is the problem. Seen it before. 😑 Then...
the lightsabers are huge
As a Jedi, did he feel or knew, that Darth Vader was telling the truth?
Yes
Darth Vader: Hello 👋
That Emperor scream. Why?! Just why?!!
Luke: Hello 👋
the 1980s version cassete tape so it may have lines
@Riddler95 i was unaware of it thx but the rest is original unless i found out otherwse
ya
Plasma dred locks black army guy
Vader vrs rocky marcanio?????
I hate that scream why the hell did they ad that?
Sooooo dumb and it’s still dumb… Lucas ok’d it… it’s less impactful and they should’ve kept Boba Fetts voice not that crap assTrmu Morrison
Why is it the special edition what's the difference
+ADHD Gaming it was digitally edited to look better and theres an awful scream that luke does when he jumps (they removed it in later editions), so yea nothing special
Luke: Don’t Hurt 😞 Me!
Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear
By far top 3 worst George lucas edits
That’s impossible
