Most people from US choose Oxford over Cambridge for Maths not because of the complexity of STEP but because the timing of Cambridge admission cycle doesn't work for us. They announce their results in mid or late summer, whereas in US we finalize our college choices by May 1.
I have no idea what a geographer would study either, but there is an interesting math problem that says any map of any size or shape can be colored with just four colors where no two colors touch one another. This conjecture still not proved after 170 years, though a brute-force computer program seemed to have demonstrated this, but not by mathematical proof.
Another great video ! Definitely agree with Classics as a First and definitely disagree with History as a Third ! ( Although History- Ancient and Modern seems like the perfect combination ). I think it would be much better for Britain if more of its MPs took Classics or Ancient History or History rather than PPE- it would give them more of a focus on the long term
Boris studied Classics at Balliol, so I have to disagree with you on that. I agree with you on History, which encourages one to read about past mistakes and learn from them. Now, that is a degree course Boris should have taken.
I respect your take on history 😂. I major in history because of my passion for research and well…knowledge of history. It also opens up so many fields after college ends. I don’t know how it is in Oxford but I am absolutely loving my history course. We do a lot of research papers which I will stay up doing…pretty much for fun…it seems a lot worse now that I’m writing it out..😅. I might have a chance of getting into Oxford in 2025. Not going to give my hopes up but I have lots of resources and recommendations and other things as well.
Your saying them people who took biochemistry and stuff are playing it safe and didnt go into medicine, but both biomedicine and medicine have an acceptance rate of 8 percent so that doesnt make sense, some people just dont want to be a doctor and go into research yk
@@Sam.Kramer I didn't take STEP (thank god) in fact, I didn't even take maths at A-level. Hi Sam, Great video again, thanks. Just wondering if you have any advise on which Oxbridge uni is the safest to apply? I want to do Law so is it true that it’s be easier if I apply for a Law degree at Cambridge and take the LNAT as opposed to applying to Oxford Law?
Hey, I'm not too sure but I would say not to focus on that. Whichever is 'easier', if your good enough, you would surely get into the other too! Focus more choosing by the course - you'll be there for a long time if you get in - (and acc Ox and Cam Law are quite different so play to your strengths - and that will also likely make you a better applicant too which is more valuable than general numbers)! Hope that isn't dodging the question too much tho haha
@@Sam.Kramer no igy I mean the heavy comparison with Cambridge courses in this video - like there are other ones people consider when applying to Oxford
Bring on Part 2 - I failed to get into Law at Oxford and ended up at Leeds (which, I think, is valuable, because you have a different tutor for each area of the Law that you select). For some reason, I was interviewed by a History don at Oxford (Oriel).

still part iii is way more competitive looking at the acceptance rate for the oxford program

I'd like to see a part 2 to this video. BTW, I'm a Trinity Physics Alumni (matriculated 1985) if that's an incentive in any shape of form!!!
Your take on STEP is funny to me, ITS SO HARD but yeah I'll take the 2:2 , great video :D

Oxford’s the one you need LNAT for but I found it wasn’t actually that bad if you practice it
it might be worth considering that universities that aren't Oxford or Cambridge exist
