I was absolutely stunned by the melodic skills of this guitarist than by the pedal sound.. he's one of the few who got really the meaning of music .. I heard few who are capable to make a guitar strings singing for real !!! Wow .. what I would give to learn his way of playing !! I'm fan ..
Great demo. So much of a pedal and soundsetting lays in the guitarist, and THIS is a guy who knows his ways around the block. If you wanna know what a Maxon SD-9 can do,,, listen to this and Scott Hendersons demo. BRAVO !!!!
I have the AnalogMan mod of this with the external mid-range pot, and it is an absolutely fantastic pedal. It's pricey, but as you can see in this fine video it's very versatile. Having one of these is like having four premium pedals in one! (Fuzz, Distortion, Tube Boost, & High Gain). Excellent & highly recommended. Oh, and the playing in this video is outstanding.
This is my third play of the video without stop.. I'm sure about one thing.. how I wish he give lessons about his amazing groovy jazzy phrases ! Which I bet can put on any kind of music ! Can't stop listening to .. just awesome .. the last guy touched my senses that way was .. joe satriani on his red album 1995. Lovely play
Wow. That's awesome! Mike is a phenomenal player. If you'd like to contact him about possible lessons, here is his UA-cam channel: ua-cam.com/users/popintothechemist
@FastEddieMandolin - thanks Eddie! We're going to post a video of Scott Henderson demoing the SD-9 shortly. Honestly, even I was blown away by how great this pedal sounds when in the hands of a master like Scott! FYI - Scott no longer uses the Analog Man modded pedal - he uses a stock SD-9, and it sounded amazing when I saw him @ the Iridium in NYC earlier this year....
Hi! great demo helpful for understanding the sound palette of the pedal! I have a question: in the last example how did you get the ambience sound by guitar? thanks a lot Artemio

It's nice to know that Mike was still making badass demo videos way back in 2011.
Totally. There's a reason he's the go-to demo guy for SO many companies now. We still use him and LOVE his work.

I am impressed with everything in this video. Time to buy my first Maxon.
Mike's demos are the best ads for the Dr Z Maz 18 amp
That guy would sound great playing a cigar box guitar through a Metal Zone pedal into a crate solid state amp.
That rig would make anyone sound great.

Love that vintage tone & your double stops:)

yup... all you need, a tele, a decent amp, the SD9 and fingers... job done. Oh, awesome playing by the way... ^
+Jammoko I, personally, LOVE the SD9. It's my favorite. :-D
and yes, Mike Hermans is amazing.
Or a Strat, or an SG, or a LP, or a Gretsch...
Teles are great workhorses tho
I think the SD9 is maybe the most underrated od/distortion ever made.
It's next on my bucket list, never actually owned one.
Nice sound! Nice playing!
The best distortion pedal, period! ;)
Excellent all around!

Great Sound. Great Playing! What is it for a Fender Tele?
Never met a Maxon I didn't like.
...although I haven't met the filter pedal yet....
lol u ve done fine job. thx for the video
Groove reminds me of SPIRIT.......Randy California'............
who says??? yes it's pretty heavy but i'd maybe look into the Maxon SM-9 Pro+ or the Emma Pisdiyauwot for a metal tone
Se puede tocar metal con este pedal???
I can play metal with this pedal??
he says: can i play metal with that pedal?
Please, tell names of the compositions! Or it's variations of an improvisation?
It's called "Mike Hermans"
Pentatonic+Modal shifts+Diminished runs=Mike. But it's extremely difficult to play. Gotta start young!
