Add a bit of peanut butter or some sort of bait on. Rare to catch a fish on an empty hook. :P

🤣 I did add some bait that smelled really sweet, nothing caught.
Honestly think they're no longer in the house. No noise, smell gone, all holes blocked. Man 1, Rodents 0

Just seen this! How is it now? Hope you managed to eliminate them.
We had a couple over the years under the floorboard. It got through the air vent in the brick wall. Make sure you have no debris, food, bird food outside. They bring food in to store as well. Check all vents, chimney flue, pipes and gaps in pitched roof/porch. We put a strong metal cover over the airbrick (which had a large hole in it) and did the rest for all airbricks. They hate the smell of bleach apparently. It worked for us. Keep those anti-bacterial wipes handy too.

Not had any critters since we've been in the house! Lots of traps set, nothing. No scratching at night, smells clean in the loft.
I honestly think they vacated the area before we moved in. A previous neighbour used to feed birds like crazy so, I think that was their food source

Crazy bird feeders who hang suet blocks in bushes are a big problem, during the day the birds feed on the blocks dropping suet on the ground which attracts rats who love suet, I had this issue but luckily neighbours nearby were decking mad which rats love, so they all lived under the garden decking rather than living in peoples roofs. No amount of traps and poison seemed to stop the rat problem until the suet blocks stopped being used, Also I found making friends with the local crows by putting a few monkey nuts out when you see them in the garden, has the effect they chase off seagulls which then don't nest on your roof, and also crows kill rats which I've seen a few times.

Luckily we haven't seen a single rat since living here. Must be a legacy thing, still finding chewed wires, etc throughout the house though 😫

You need to bate the traps

Still no victims or signs of potential victims 6 months later so I think they're gone 🤷

Surely any drinking water is from the main. The tanks usually feed the WC , WHB non potable stuff. Admittedly I’d rather not be brushing my teeth with rat soup 😂 !

Possibly, there was a tank that fed the hot water cylinder and the second rat-infused asbestos tank. Pressure to the taps was terribly low until the whole lot was ripped out so I assumed the taps were also gravity fed. Either way it was horrific
