At least in my area the HVAC contractors charge a fortune and have little to no BS understanding. So right or wrong the guy receiving the check gets the blame. As a client of Corbett's I was able to set expectations with them so I assume they charged me even more but I have a pretty good system. Positive thoughts for the whole southeast.
Yes equipment is expensive but contractors in Washington DC charging 30k for ducted mitsubishi that costs that costs them less than half that two days of a tech and journeyman allow for 40 per cent margins Plus probability of signing client into lucrative Maintainence contract
Can we get the problem summarised simply please? Old Hvac installed with leaky ducts was running constantly and therefore dehumidifying. New Hvac is more efficient and is variable so it doesn't run constantly which means that it doesn't dehumidify as much, so when it does turn on, water condenses on the surface, leading the mold?
The old single stage equipment was better at dehumidifying. Switching to variable speed often requires other changes to work properly in a very hot or very humid climate. Ductwork is just as important as the equipment! I live in a cold climate and we mostly install variable speed equipment without issues. Mitsubishi Hyper Heat and Trane variable speed is great if it's installed properly.
@@KPHVACsounds like you are now oversized on your new system if it’s shutting down. Teh beauty of variable speed is if sized right it hardly ever shuts down and it’s removing latent heat around e clock.
Wrong, Variable speed systems can run 23 hours a day therefore the are constantly dehumidifying your house at a low speed which runs colder air thru your duct system at a very low speed hence your duct condensation will happen if you have outside air infiltration in your attic or any sort of moister issues.
just poked a hole in my R22 system condenser when putting the cover back on. Called a company... They quoted me $150 a lbd for R22 and I needed 11.9lbs..... I looked around and found it just south of Tampa at a distributer for $30 a lbd. I had the guy fix my hole and pressure test.. I had 15lbs shipped to me for $30 a pound plus $100 for shipping. then Evacuated my system and filled it myself... So don't believe when they say it has to be $150 a # ... And yes what I got was 100% new Virgin R22 in a sealed brand new 15lbd bottle.
The entire residential hvac ecosystem is fubar. From manufacturer to distributorEquipment is built cheaply, too complicated, predicated on planned obsolescence, uneducated work force, and just interested on lucrative swap, outs every ten years. Brad is so right. When you have thermostats like Lennox that are 1500 installed unknown you have problems. And when you are-saying 10kmplus for a system, you need to also install a combination surge protector and voltage regulator. That said. HVAC is most complicated of all the residential trades. And the best people need to to start getting aid like plumbers. The only two can do is downsize, and built tigh and hyperinslate.
overcooling to meet the humidity setting. trying to use one bit of machinery to do two jobs, instead of using two machines, then wondering why it doesn't work.
BRAD!!!!! love that guy!
Garth Brooks is dropping some knowledge!

Tons and tons of information from this channel. Thanks so much.

Brad-you…need…to…charge…more…and yourself accordingly.
