NZA spider fly ties! Support the channel and get a custom spider dry fly 🔥🔥🕷️🕷️Hey crew for any of you supers out there I tied a few spiders in grey which are available to buy. They take 30mins+ to tie so won't be cheap as from h&f but if you want to support the channel and are keen on trying one of my personal ties view the store here: nz-adventurer-shop.fourthwall.com/en-nzd/products/spider-fly-grey
It's always good to try new patterns and build confidence in fishing them by persisting long enough to catch a few. I have more experience fishing spider patterns in Australia and over there, colour didn't matter one bit, neither were they picky about size. Had a few goes with fishing smaller beetle patterns in tandem, but the fish always went the spider pattern. I'll have to tie a few up and give them a go this season. I've kicked all the standard hair & copper as well as pheasant tail nymphs from my boxes for the season. Cheers
You may regret letting everyone know about particular flies that work well. Been using them for 20 years at least and expect everyone to know now. Was an old saying that very much applies to fishing....loose lips sinks ships
Thanks Ashleigh, cool project for you, such beautiful water and fish. Look forward to seeing more videos, Cheers Mike
Cheers 👋

Great to see…always a buzz when you succeed with something new. Merry Christmas Ainsley. 🎉
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
Excellent Ainsley, Epic on the spider flies, I have used them but found them more productive in the beech forest streams
Good to hear! I'll have to give them a go in those spots too! Merry Christmas
Good on ya, buddy. Great catch on the spider fly, and I always say there's always more than one way to skin a cat. Well done..
Always fun to make things a bit more challenging 🏞️🕷️

Sounds like a plan! I hope you have success with the spider patterns and whatever you put in place of the standards you removed!
That was great, thanks!
Awesome to hear you enjoyed it! 🏞️🔥
Nice Ashleigh. Might have to try the Daddy Long Legs patterns I've had for a couple of seasons and never used! Merry Xmas!
Could be worth a try! Else maybe they're cake decorations 🕷️🕷️🎂😂
Caught one picky trout out of a beautiful South Island river in late January on a black foam spider. It works👍
Sounds like you nailed it! I tied a few in grey as it seems closer to the natural - what are you thoughts on need to colour match this dry?
@ it wouldn’t hurt 😉 but maybe not necessary.
excellent work mate
Thanks for watching! 🕷️🕷️🏞️🔥👌
Great work. I've heard of others using a sinking version below an indicator and fishing it blind and to sighted fish.
Great tip!

Hmmm I hear ya 🙏 the spider does also scare a lot of fish so it's a let the angler beware scenario him sure folks with fund that out for themselves ☠️
