Found you yesterday on Tulas Bloomers, but today, wow, thank you. I’ve ordered all my new toys AND postlady has just delivered my pattern pieces. I’m on a roll! Starting to find fabric to give me best pleasure, two hours later, missed lunch! Hugs from Hampshire, England,x
I have those pink templates. I did not buy her fabrics though. I love the big quilt you did. Wow, it is a real beauty. Her fabrics are really needed for it to look good. You did a fabulous job stitching.
Thank you so much for this helpful video! I bought the same pattern, templates, fabric, spinning cutting mat and notions (except the light box) last summer (pandemic brain). When I got my supplies together and finally opened the pattern and read the directions, I nearly fainted! You have encouraged me to start this and be fearless! ps I immediately subscribed to your channel!
@@alwaysinstitches5388 I’m wondering how do you store your epp stuff for travel. I will be spending next week in hospital waiting rooms while my hubby has heart surgery. ( even pink turn table?)
@@alwaysinstitches5388 Thank you so much. Positive thoughts and prayers welcome. I will have 7 hours of uninterrupted epp so I’ve gotta be prepared, and I will be : )
Hello there i happened apon your channel by accident and thank goodness i did as ive been wanting to do epp and i was so interested in the tula pink templates so i really apprecaite you talking about all of this Thank you
I agree with you regarding doing comfort-producing projects as in EPP in those stressful times. I haven’t tried it yet, but who knows. Thank you for sharing. ☺️
The simplest way to try it is with 1 inch hexi papers and a fabric glue stick shown in the video. Moda makes mini charms which fit the 1 in hexies perfect.
You are correct. Making quilts by machine is fast; but, it can put a lot of pressure on you. How many fast quilts do I need. English Paper Piecing is much slower, it is fun, relaxing, can be stopped and started very quickly, makes a perfect take along project, will help you use up scrap fabrics, and will product some very interesting, beautiful projects.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I have wanted to do paper piecing for a long time and this you made this look easy even though I know it's not LOL. I am also a Stitcher and A sewer. To me this looks relaxing once you have the pieces done then you can sit and sew. I hope you have a great week Vanessa White
Aww, you are sweet. I am addicted to this style of stitching. Will have a new video up soon showing my latest adventure into EPP. Hope you can visit our shop sometime and happy stitching to you!
Really enjoyed this, you have a wonderful ‘can do ‘ approach which is infectious. I’m inspired. Your background quilt is beautiful. I love Aurafil 80 for fine work, I can’t recommend enough. Plus I use tiny Japanese needles- when you sew again with ordinary weight thread and needles, it’s such a shock, they seem huge. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for your kind comments. It does feel like binding twine when I go back to the more common size thread and needles. Love the Japanese needles too.
It's not pitiful. It's VERY pretty 🙂. I just started sewing EPP flower HEXIES. I LOVE to slow sew/hand sew. So FUN❣ Your Dresden quilt on the wall is BEAUTIFUL!!
When you said that you want to find a special flower, is that you who choose the flowers or is the instructions tells you what to choose?? I did EPP and I went to Dollar General and bought "plastic to cut your veggies" and your pink plate I transfert it on the clear plastic with 1/4 inches written too! So, you see more easy.
They really are like potato chips, bet you can't make just one! I have moved on to more EPP projects, hope to have a new video soon. Thanks for watching!
But I will tell you the first pattern of EPP I did, I had the paper like you. But now, I don’t put paper. I trace on fabric my design and the 1/4 inches and I sew by hand after putting two pieces of fabric together and sew on the ligne. But, the magnets you show, where did you buy them? It’s magical for EPP and for embroidery too!!
A very good presentation! Love slow stitching. I am appalled that those ladies told you you couldn’t hand quilt. It takes quite a while to get good at hand quilting. And if you never achieve those really tiny stitches, who cares! Your quilt will still be beautiful, and you’ll still enjoy doing it. They even have a big stitch, Type of quilting now. So everyone can hand quilt.
thank you! i started mine today - wondering how we fold the three sided triangles regarding tail direction? Appreciate you taking us on this EPP with you...
I am working on the Nova Tula Pink pattern. I accurately cut the pieces from the pink plastic templates. I glued the 3/8” seam in on the center piece C. I then cut and glued the 3/8” on piece G. Now I lay G to C and “G” seems to be too big. The edges of “G” go beyond the edges of “C”. What did I do wrong?
It could be with how they are lined up. Some ends tend to stick out a bit. With lots of practice you tend to learn how they match up. Thanks for watching and happy stitching!!!
Quilting perfectionists want you to stitch a certain number of stitches per inch. If they don't let you quilt if your number per inch is more than they want, how are you supposed to get your ratio better. That is mean! I quilted for the first when I was 5 yrs old. Mom left my stitching because it still held the layers together. It didn't matter in the end the quilt went on a bed for warmth. It did encourage me to try again years later. Mom is 92 and has always said I quilt faster than her. I don't think I am faster but I can stitch in more directions than she can. She went to quilting bees as a threaders too. I have several quilt tops needing to be quilted. I am going to try machine some. I find the machine quilted ones are stiff and not pliable because they stitch such small patterns. They need to open up the spaces, modern batts don't separate like they used too.
Hand quilting is a look and feel unable to be duplicated by machine. Wool batting is very dreamy for hand quilting. It gives it such a dimensional look and an incredibly soft feel!
Taking your thread off the top of the spool does not affect the grain of the thread. You simply need to thread the end of the thread that comes off the spool first and knot the end that you cut off the spool as you are doing. The thread coming off the top or side of the spool has to do with how the thread is wound and can cause the thread to twist. It’s not really a problem with hand sewing since you can just gently stroke the length of thread to untwist it.

Just found your tutorials and I agree with you. We need something to slow us down. I always have a hand project to do at night, it seems.
That's pretty awesome! Night time is just so right to work on stitching!

550 pieces
Good number!
Always cap your glue stick before you put it aside.
They do dry out fast don't they???
You should stick to it especially after your expense of all the needed items
It is an investment in time but rewarding to see the patterns emerge!
Love Tulsa fabric
But English paper piecing is not for me!🤪
Tula fabric has so many fun colors and prints!
