Hi Janette, oh my goodness, zero degrees. If I were to garden at zero degrees I might possibly turn into a snowman. I won't be shouting about the hydrangeas. I deadhead mine too. How lovely to put everything to bed for the Winter, have a rest and wait for all those beautiful bulbs to come up in the Spring. Happy Birthday to Richard and I'll be looking forward to hearing you play the piano next time. Love Bron xx
Hello Bron and thank you for your lovely birthday wishes for Rich, and for being like me and chopping off your hydrangea heads 😆 it is indeed lovely to be having a rest for a while (still have leaves to do first) and then put our feet up for a couple of months and wait for the bulbs 🌷🌷 still practicing the 🎹 don’t get too excited 😆😆❤️💚🩷
Hello there and thank you so much for visiting my garden 🩷 yes my two little dogs are adorable and such good little girls. Hope you’re having a wonderful week ❤️🩷
Good morning Janette and Richard. Happy birthday Richard. It was 32 overnight and is currently 36. Brrrrrr. I so enjoy your show. I too, am eager for a long winters nap. I do have only a few stray items to complete. Fall cleanup has been ongoing since September. My preference is also for a neat and tidy winter garden. Merry Christmas dear friends!
Oh well done and excellent news you have nearly all your jobs done too! Isn’t it a nice feeling 👍 can’t wait for a lovely long winter indoors with the dogs and the TV 😊 I think a couple of weeks in we will be missing it though 🎈 ooh it’s cold over there for you! Here in Central California most things are still looking good and will stay that way for another month or so. Your garden is lovely with all the evergreen plants that will look good all winter.

Hi Janette, happy birthday to the birthday boy and wishing him many more. Tomorrow is my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. I do exactly the opposite of you, I leave everything until the spring. My 40 year old Autumn Joy sedums have completely died back and are starting to regrow at the base, the new growth will die back soon too. Looking forward to the piano recital. We had our 1st snow Tuesday night it was only flurries. There's very little new gardening content on UA-cam so I've been randomly watching some of your old videos. Good morning Janette and Richard Yes...the garden is looking autumny...as it should. Enjoyed your clear up. The mahonia is definitively improved after you trimmed it earlier this year. We have a surveyor coming today to check some damage on the chimney flashing. We have never lit a fire and don't intend to but of course it still needs maintaining. Hope not too expensive. Happy birthday to Richard. So Look forward to spring💕🌸🌷
Good morning to you Sharon!! Happy you got all your bulbs planted and garden tidied up. I woke up to snow this morning and it's still snowing but is expected to warm up later in the week. Time to think about the garden for next year. Bonny, Canada
Janette I agree 💯, time for a cut back and a cleanup( plus any mowing and hedge trimming) before the frost rolls in. I’m like you, I can’t be relaxed if the garden is not buttoned up for the winter, I love it tidy too, because I feel the garden is an extension of the house and should be treated as such. Plus, come spring hopefully less work😂😝. I still need cut back my butterfly bushes and stone crops, they still look beautiful though, but it must be done. I also let the hydrangea leaves drop, and not cut it back, because I did it a few years ago, new to gardening and I cut back the next years blooms🥹. Loved the vlog and the inspiration my friend 🫶 Happy Birthday Richard🎉

Hi Janette. That must have been a satisfying clear up. We're still waiting for the first frost. it might be this week 🤞. I've been collecting leaves from the village and chucking them into my flower beds 😅 you should see the mess😮 winter interest 😅. Otherwise, I'm waiting for that frost to prune the roses, and I've left the perennials to do their thing. My garden is long and narrow, so I don't have to look at it. The fountain, I must admit, is tucked away under plastic bags because it refills with water every time it rains and needs cleaning again in the spring. You can imagine how lovely that looks, covered in black plastic 😊. Can't wait to hear your piano playing, I'm pretty sure I'll get all tearful. Enjoy the winter weather and the rest from gardening 😊
Hello Kim, you made me smile with your plastic bag story, but it’s worth it to keep things nice. Supposed to have a frost this weekend I’ve heard. So late this year isn’t it? Hi Janette. Every thing looks so tidy you worked well with Richard. I worked in the garden this morning. My gardenias are doing so well. I have two ground covers and two lovely bushes' The scent is very sweet. Also my hydrangea's have done well. I am proud of the petunias growing in hanging baskets. Not long now it will be our summer. Keep well during your winter months
Hello there Olga and thank you for coming by. I like the feel of the winter garden but yours just bursting into life sounds wonderful. Hope you have a wonderful week 💚❤️
Hi there Ute, same here most of the time and yesterday was just dreadful! I was just lucky that Saturday, when I filmed this, was a bright day for once. Getting cold now though. Hope you manage to get a good day outside soon 🩷💚❤️
Happy Birthday Richard❤ It is always satisfying to do a cleanup for winter. We can start planning for spring . Looking forward to your piano recital Janette. Have a wonderful day.
Hello my friend , good morning, by watching your videos I know what I need to be doing, I need to trim all the ones has died down . We been so cold now I can’t even go outside for along time now . And I still haven’t plant my bulbs . 😊
Hello Max, it sounds so cold for you 🥶 stay inside in the warm instead with a ☕️ and your 🖊️ 😊😊 hope you’re ok and maybe you can plant your 🌷 in little stages here and there. A target of 30 at a time? Have a fabulous week 💚❤️
You went to a lot of trouble cutting back everything . I don’t do it. My mowing guy cleaned some leaves. I do put kitchen scraps and any stuff I do cut in the compost pile. But I dont cut stuff like sedum etc. I did have to dig up summer bulbs like canna and dahlia. We got an early snow and chilly ( 11 f) day today and snow on the ground, in central Illinois That ends my garden season. Looking forward to your debut piano playing!
Hi there Sunita and you have snow ❄️!! Sounds cold over there for you. There’s a lot to be said for leaving everything too, a lot easier 👍 hope you’re having a great week and thanks for visiting me in my garden ❤️💚
Hello there!! And thank you for joining me in my garden! Goodness, you have snow ❄️ I’m not sure there’s a solution for that 😊 apart from …. pots!! 👍 hope you have a happy week ❤️🩷💚
Hi Janette, glad to see you looking so well and I'm with you about finishing up outdoors for winter. Can you believe, I cut back a lot of my perennials a few weeks ago (I had some help at the time and there was nothing else for her to do). But it was a mistake as we then got no frost and the bloomin' things are growing back! We will surely get frost soon. Such an unseasonal autumn. A question - at 4:14 in the video, behind you, what is that? Is it a geranium? Very dinky leaves. Another heart-warming video about real gardening, thank you.
Hello dear Rachel and so lovely to hear from you!! Yes that is a hardy geranium I planted this Spring but it never even flowered!! Maybe it yell next year 😊 we haven’t had a frost at all either, although we’ve got to 0 Celsius a few times this week. We are expecting frost this weekend I believe. But I hadn’t thought that the perennials will start growing back!! I don’t know about you, but I’m so looking forward to a rest from gardening for a couple of months - it’s a lot of work 🤪 have a happy week 💚🩷
Janette, you'll be fine cutting back at this late stage. Don't worry about it. Yes, I love coming in for the winter. Gave myself a right chilling in the garden for two days so I'm glad I'm done now. 😊@@TheEnthusiasticGardener
Hi Janette, Pauline Crispin here. I am watching this on a different device, not at all sure why it has giving me a different user name??? Anyway good clear up. I do the same. I think in a small garden, like we have, it is good to clear plants up. I know that many folk say leave the plants for winter interest, but I don't want to look at a tatty garden until the Spring. Although I did grit my teeth when you cut the head of your hydrangea!!! 😁😬
Hi Pauline and I’m with you, I want it all tidy and if it’s messy it will make me think I should be working rather than having a nice rest 😆 and I think there are plenty of other nearby gardens for the birds and whatever to forage in 😊👍 sorry about the hydrangea though 😆 hope you’re having a great day 🩷💚
Happy Belated Birthday Richard! I love your channel Janette and your gardens are beautiful! At about the 7:24 mark when you are pulling out the Dahlia's, what is the plant with the star shaped leaves to the left of your shoulder? I may have missed that plant name in one of your garden tours......I just love it♥
Aha! That is called ERYSIMUM Bowles Mauve and it’s an evergreen and has the loveliest mauve flowers for months. I did cut a lot of it away after Spring as it was getting a bit leggy. It’s very nice, highly recommend that! Thank you so much for joining me today and hope you have a really great week 🩷💚
Your Mahonia looks fabulous. 3 or 4 of mine have buds showing but none looking anywhere near as good as yours. Mine need a few more years growth to get near yours.
Hello Mark and it does look great doesn’t it? First time in 2 years. About 2 (could have been 3) years ago it had grown so tall I chopped about two-thirds off, it was only about 2 foot tall after, and it has sulked ever since 😆 so I’m delighted it’s flowering again. Hope you’re ok and have a fabulous week ❤️💚
Hello Iris and thanks for the birthday greetings. My advice for the bulbs is just wrap up warm, put some headphones 🎧 on and listen to some music or a podcast and before you know it they’ll be done. -3 Celsius here today, frost on the 🚗 and just arrived at work. Happy Friday! ❤️🩷
Evening Janette, thanks for your tidy up video, only the leaves left to do, then the garden will be tidy ready for the winter. Then we all start the winter rest period, you deserve it. I noticed you were wearing gloves which is unusual I assume that's because it was cold? I assume you leave your water features outside, do you cover them? otherwise they will fill with rain water. I also noticed you were using your green bin, that's rubbing salt in the wound as Warrington bins are still on strike! Returning Xmas Eve!!!! Happy birthday Richard hope you had a good one, he is a good DIY backup to your garden projects over the year. It's been as cold here, heavy frost. I just managed to get my bulbs and panies in before it hit. Looking forward to your music concert next month, selling any DVDs? Bye from your northern eye. Steve
Hello Steve, Eye of the North! Well done for getting your jobs buttoned up. Yes I was cold so wearing my gloves 🧤😆 I took the smaller fountain out and have put that in the shed. I did suggest taking the grey one out but Rich insisted it was all levelled up precisely in his OCD manner 😊 and he wasn’t going to love it. If the bowl fills with water, it’s not going to travel inside to the pump and it’s all made of resin so I am assured it’s going to be fine. If not … then he’ll have to buy me a new one 😆 yes just leaves to do and then the following week I will play you the 🎹 but don’t get too excited (then you won’t be disappointed) ☺️ wishing you a wonderful Sunday ❤️🩷
Now you can get right to planting in the spring. Do you put Christmas lights in the garden? I was wondering about your piano concert. You deserve a good rest but I will miss your videos. Happy Birthday to Richard.
Hey there Nancy and thanks for coming to my garden today and for Richard’s birthday greetings. I don’t put lights outside in the garden for Christmas I’m afraid. Would look pretty though. I have 2 weeks left to practice the 🎹 but … don’t get too excited 😆😆 have a lovely week ❤️💚
You’ll be glad to know there’s only 1 more garden video this year James 😆 you won’t have to look at my 🦩 and 🦋 until Spring 😆 I’m going to miss your happy comments though 😇🤪❤️
Hi Janette 😊 I think this is the season for the evergreens to really shine and make their mark. The garden would be so dull without them. Btw, with the fountain, won’t the bottom part fill with rain and potentially then freeze?
Hi Pamela, yes I’m so pleased I’ve so many evergreens. As for the fountain … that’s what I thought too, but Rich is adamant all will be ok, so if the pump does freeze then he’s going to have to buy me a new one 😆😆 hope you’re ok and have a happy week ❤️💚

@@TheEnthusiasticGardenerI must admit my back garden becomes out of bounds in the winter as it's so slippy. North facing hillside. One day we'll get round to project patio. 😅 Our front bench and view make up for it thankfully.
Thank you for supporting my channel. I really appreciate it.
Take care, Jane
Going to look right now!! 🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener thank you :)
That was a really satisfying video, looks nice and tidy. Great work x
Thanks so much for stopping by Alison and I hope you’re having a great week 💚❤️💚
What a vicariously satisfying video watching you clean up your wonderful garden! Also very useful hearing you verbalize your thought process for deciding the disposition of each plant 💭. Looking forward to your piano recital 🎹. Thanks for another great video!
Hello Colleen, it was actually very satisfying doing that, and I’m so glad you enjoyed watching. Glad it’s done!! Don’t get too excited for my 🎹🤪 you are likely to be disappointed 😆😆 have a lovely week 🩷❤️
Happy belated birthday Richard, for me...mine starts with a 6, ends with a 5. You cracked me up with that one 😊 Look forward to hearing you play, my mom played the organ, me, I could never get a hold on reading music, good for you. The garden looks so nice all tidied up, this Saturday is looking good temp wise for bulbs and a clean up. Love the poppy.! The revised zone map moved me up a notch to 8a. You guys have a wonderful week ahead.
Oh yes I heard you all moved up a notch over there. Isn’t it every 10 years or so they recalculate? Happy belated birthday to you too Wende 🎈🎈🎈 seems all the best people have November birthdays 🎈don’t get too excited for my 🎹 😆😆🩷❤️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener
Actually, I'm a July girl, the 26th. I'm sure your "recital" will be great. Some states stayed the same. I watch a girl here in Maryland...The Rose Geek, she mentioned her mom is just an hr from her, but her zone stayed the same. And yes it goes by 10 yrs, altho I feel like I've been in 8 for the last 5.
Oh I misread and thought you were in November. July’s a great time of year for a birthday, I’m June, and we get to have sunshiny birthdays - much nicer!!
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener
Indeed, I'd rather be on a beach, then wrapped up, trying to staying warm.
Oh yes! 🏖️
Such a satisfying video. Everything all tidied up. Nice to see Richard again, after a long absence. Happy Birthday, Richard! 🎈🎁
Hi there JC, well I will have to make sure he pops up in more videos next year, everyone likes seeing him which is so nice. Will just have to think of more jobs for him 😆 have a wonderful week my friend 🩷❤️
Looks great Janette and Richard
Thanks so much for joining us today Chris and have a wonderful week 💚🩷
You‘re so lucky. It’s been raining here almost nonstop and I am so behind
Hi there Ute, same here most of the time and yesterday was just dreadful! I was just lucky that Saturday, when I filmed this, was a bright day for once. Getting cold now though. Hope you manage to get a good day outside soon 🩷💚❤️
Good morning 🌅 dear jannet 🎄⛄🎄🏵️🏵️love 😘 ur vid 🏡 ☕☕ hve a happy Holidays 💝
Hello there Sahab and thank you for visiting with me today. Hope you have a very happy week 💚🩷
Great work session! Happy, happy birthday, Richard!🎉 Looking forward to your piano performance, Janette.❤
Hello Dawn! Thanks for the birthday wishes. I’m practicing 🎹 but hope I haven’t got everyone’s hopes up unnecessarily 😆😆💚❤️🎹
Happy Birthday Richard❤ It is always satisfying to do a cleanup for winter. We can start planning for spring . Looking forward to your piano recital Janette. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you Judy and for your faith in my 🎹 skills 😆 it certainly is nice to get the garden all tidied up and we can snuggle up indoors for a while 💚🩷
great video, thanks for sharing. be safe.
Hello! Thank you so much and have a wonderful week 💚🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener I’ll have to plant them , is almost December , I’m running behind. Learning my cursive is taking up my time 😊
You could set yourself a target and get it all done in one day. I put headphones in and listened to a podcast and the time flew by! 💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener that’s a good idea . That’s why you couldn’t hear Richard when he was filming you 😂
Yes!!
I still have 103 bulbs I need to get in the ground but the garden is snow under at the moment.
@GardeningatDouentza well I wish you a lovely long rest too Rachel, and of course a very Merry Christmas too 🎄🎄
Hi Janette, Pauline Crispin here. 😁😬
Hi Pauline and I’m with you, I want it all tidy and if it’s messy it will make me think I should be working rather than having a nice rest 😆 and I think there are plenty of other nearby gardens for the birds and whatever to forage in 😊👍 sorry about the hydrangea though 😆 hope you’re having a great day 🩷💚
😊
Happy birthday Richard well done Janette I’ve got bulbs coming from farmer Gracy not looking forward to planting them though
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener very frosty here as well
Evening Janette, thanks for your tidy up video, only the leaves left to do, then the garden will be tidy ready for the winter.
Don’t fret, just enjoy yourself!
😊🩷😆
Oh that was interesting 🥱😴😴😴🍁🦩🦋😂
You’ll be glad to know there’s only 1 more garden video this year James 😆 you won’t have to look at my 🦩 and 🦋 until Spring 😆 I’m going to miss your happy comments though 😇🤪❤️
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener oh please do a Christmas special 😂
😆😆😆
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener perhaps a giant inflatable Santa plus reindeers 🤔😀🎅
Now even I wouldn’t want those in my garden 😆😆
Hi Janette 😊 I think this is the season for the evergreens to really shine and make their mark. The garden would be so dull without them. Btw, with the fountain, won’t the bottom part fill with rain and potentially then freeze?
Hi Pamela, yes I’m so pleased I’ve so many evergreens. As for the fountain … that’s what I thought too, but Rich is adamant all will be ok, so if the pump does freeze then he’s going to have to buy me a new one 😆😆 hope you’re ok and have a happy week ❤️💚
hes 603? wow
😂😂 yes 63 ❤️🥰
