I am 39 here just got into landscaping and I love your energy I get this excited for shrubs lol. I scooped up 2x 15 gallon firechiefs for $13 dollars each a few days ago unbelievable deal :). My most exotic shrub is probably the japanese umbrella compacta pine shrub ^^. I also have a high graph red dragon and a few more special cuties I am going to start doing some videos soon maybe over shrubs and my boulder collection. Funny thing is I was never into shrubs and trees / landscaping but when my mom passed in 2020 and dad I needed a hobby and it just happened. Spring is coming hope everyone has some fun shrub planting and garden :).
Hi Michelle. This was great info. Evergreens are important staples in our garden because of the year round interest. They are also super easy to grow in containers. I have 7 that have been in a pot for 3-4 years. I root prune every 2yrs to keep them happy in their container home. Never had one issue.
So happy I stumbled upon you and this video. Replacing lawn (zone8b-9b) and I also love junipers. Thank you for showing so many options and zones and honest reviews on each. Cheers and best wishes
Always enjoy your videos. I am planning on adding evergreen shrubs to my landscape this year. Very helpful info. Could you talk about yews in one of your videos?
This was a great idea for a video - you provided so much good information on these low maintenance shrubs. Are there any evergreen shrubs you would recommend for part shade on the east and west sides of my house in Zone 6A, Northeast Ohio? I had some old shabby shrubs removed earlier this summer and I want to make sure that I choose well for these spots so they don’t struggle. Thank you!
Another gsrdener I watch is admit about evergreens in the garden. Like you, he says they are the bones to any garden. Again like you, I'm trying to use plants that are more low maintenance. But still give 4 seasons of interest in zone 8A.
All of them have a pretty good track record with being deer resistant. I'd say if they are gonna eat one, it might be the arborvitae, although I have not had that happen.
Low Maintance buzzes in my ears. Thank you. 🌳🌱☘️🌹
Perfect!

Thank you for your help in gardening. I love no prune evergreens so I can work smarter and not harder.❤️😊
I go up to my low maintenance plants give them a pat and a rub and say thank you. Lol
Me too!!!

What a nice collection of little shrubs!! 😊

Great suggestions! Thank you. I liked seeing the mature versions of the shrubs.
Such a great and thorough video about Evergreens.
I love my Korean fir with the blue cones. Makes me smile everytime I see it.
Redoing my front bed bc it’s full of wildflowers and I’m on 4 acres so I just want natural and low maintenance,2. Thank you this is very helpful 👍🏻👏🏼
Sounds great!

Great great great video ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your knowledge of all the plants, could you please us if things are deer resistant.
It would be helpful in the future to show the name of the shrub on the screen along with the live shot of the shrub.
Yes. As I got better making videos I do that.
Junipers are my favorite

I guess I need to move my gold false cypress now 🤦🏽♀️
Deer love arborvitae.
In some places they do. But not everywhere
I have never seen the Kallay's Compact don't even see them online really. Going to have to find somewhere that ships
Where are you Dana?
I've always called the false cypress fry-guys! They remind me of the McDonald's fry-guys.
Hahaha That is hilarious
Foliage?? Foil-age ? I just couldn’t …but hey- great content
Very nice species. Thank you. Are any of them deer resistent?
All of them have a pretty good track record with being deer resistant. I'd say if they are gonna eat one, it might be the arborvitae, although I have not had that happen.
@@gardeningTLC Thank you. My arbor vitae are browsed badly by deer.
I need about 10 shrubs in my front yard for privacy from the road. I'd like it to grow to 6' tall but not too wide, maybe 3-4'. Any suggestions?
Golden Ticket Privet
What county in IL do you live in? Do you ever have a public garden walk?

Hi . And thank you . When you say 5-8 zones does that go for 8a and 8b zones ?
Yes
What about evergreens for shady areas?
There are not a lot of them. Hemlock. Yew boxwwod..to name a few
You keep mentioning your store? What is the name and where is it located?
It is all in the description. The Landscape Connectio Rockford, Illinois
Foil-age??
Yup. Speech problem
@@gardeningTLC …I should’ve explained why I was asking…I don’t pronounce it quite right either…I say FOLIDGE!
