- Tadahiro Nomura is a Japanese judoka who competed in -60 kg weight category. He is the only judoka to achieve almost impossible feat of wining three Olympic gold medals (1996, 2000, 2004). He is also one time World champion and bronze medalist. T. Nomura was master at reaching competitive peak at the right time and that's why he achieved something that can be considered legendary even among other legends. His main arsenal consisted of: Seoi Nage, Sode Tsurikomi Goshi and O Soto Gari/Otoshi throws.

He was born under an elite Judo family
his dad was a coach at prestigious Tenri high school Judo club
his uncle Toyokauzu was a gold medalist at the munchen olympics
his surrounding environment was richer in many ways than anyone else
nevertheless he was skinny and weak until he graduated from Tenri high
he was even defeated by the girl named Tomoko kintsuji when he was in junior high
his dad adviced him not to continue to practice Judo
but he never gave up his own way
and he finally achieved to throw world champ Ryuji Sonoda with kuchikitaoshi
at the university championships when he was a sophomore at Tenri university
And now his nephew and niece are carrying on the legend. Judo gene run strong with them

I used to work out with a gal that was good friends with Nomura. He told her once that he only does judo because he is good at it. Crazy! This guy was unstoppable. Great video.

You have to be mentally really strong to win 3 Olympic games in a row. There are some athletes who are the best in what they are doing but on Olympics they just can't win for excamle Novak Djokovic. Nomura is one of the best athletes in the world. And now he is sometimes even working with Abe Hifumi.

Maybe not quite at that level. I've watched Koga highlights religiously as a means of studying chain technique for my Seoi-nage entry. Nomura seems more versatile though. Not to take anything away from Koga.

子どもの頃は女子にも投げられるくらい弱かった、それくらい体格には恵まれない彼がオリンピック三連覇、世界最強になれたのは、これがまさしく柔よく剛を制す柔道だからなのかな。相手が面白いくらい転がるんだよなあ。
同じ様な天才系柔道を、阿部詩選手がやってる気がする。野村柔道に似てるから負ける気がしないよ。
