I collect vintage Kabar slipjoints, and it always confused me when I would see some of their knives that were made in Taiwan or Japan or Hong Kong. I never bought them because I wasn’t sure if the quality and ppl wanted a lot for them. I was under the impression that they were of lesser quality, compared to the Olean stuff. I live about an hour north of the factory, so they are popular in WNY. Love kabars slipjoints, lock backs and fix blades tho. Cool find you got there, be fun to mess around in the woods with it. I’m one of those guys who doesn’t like coated blades. I’m a patina man myself. Thanks for sharing
@@donavantew8278 ,… Hello Donavan! Great to hear from You. It is an awesome find, I’m really happy with it. Thanks for appreciating my long winded intro. 😂. 👍🏻🔪
I want a knife like this made of steel 1060-1070 with a hardness of 56 HRC after tempering with a spine thickness of 5-6 mm and without grooves in the shank
@@leloup-garou443 ,… No, I don’t think so,… only because it’s a little too thick to be considered a Rat Tail tang. I’m pretty sure It’s considered a Full Encapsulated Push tang or a Full Stick Tang. 🔪👍🏻
I've owned one since 2005! Its splits logs, dug holes, and used as a campfire skillet. I love this knife. Heck, I've even had it rehandled.
Got one last month, no sheath (old BK-9 sheath worked) but definitely not disappointed! A hefty chunk of a knife. I'm a happy camper!

@@mrpropper6590 - Very Cool. Sounds like You know exactly what you want. 👍🏻🔪. I would suggest a custom knife maker.
Is it a rat tang?
