to be fair, the way he was projecting the hit, most likely made it feel 5x heavier before he hit...so it's for sure still delivering a lot of force towards it even if it looks "slow"
What does California have to do with the price of the module? Shouldn’t the property be the expansive part and not the building which was made in a Factory?
Other 3d house companies can print a 650 sq ft house for 10k in California. I dont know what this guy is talking about, and his hammer test video looks like the guy pulls his swing back right before it hits. This seems like someone being very greedy
I don't care where it's made and delivered. 115 grand for a very basic 350sqft building is absolutely ridiculous !!!!! It shouldn't be more than 30 grand.
Too expensive also what's the point of printing in a factory when you can mold manufacture things much faster. The advantages of 3D printing is having it done on location and save money on transportation and assembly 🤔
When you build a house on location you have to organize local labor for weeks until the house is done. You have to have permits to block off the street and make noise for many days. You have to have all types of contractors, electricians, cement pourers, windows installation, plumbing, industrial waste disposal, etc. There are many construction sites that need to be done on very small properties that are impossible to fit all the equipment they need to build the house so they have to organize around each other's schedules. If you could just level it, do the plumbing, pour the concrete, then bring in a completely finished house it would save so much time and planning. An electrician for them comes to work and does the electrical system for 3 or 4 houses a day because he doesn't need to travel between job sites that are hundreds of miles apart, and they have all the materials on hand in large quantities so he doesn't have to go to the store because he forgot one thing.
Interesting but speed isn't important, efficiency and cost are. If you can have a 3D printed home whether panels or modules and is is significantly cheaper then you can address the inequality of home ownership. People don't need a house in a week they need it for 50% or less of the cost.
Those prices are inflated, they're selling for typical house prices when they aren't working with the expensive materials or paying for workers like with other houses. They just want to make millions. Luckily not all 3d printed companies are going that way. Low cost for quality is whats coming.
It would have, because it is much lighter. Have you ever swung a 20 lb hammer horizontally? It looks like a baseball bat, but it weighs more than 10 baseball bats.
It's always the LAND COST and site LOCATION that is prohibitively expensive for the average consumer. Until governments make land rights a human-housing right then 3D-printed homes will be continue to be a luxury product.
California prices? Are they forced to price that high just because California is already expensive? Their profit must be outrageous. I feel it's greedy.
Houses? But they are just rooms they clearly are showing being delivered to large estates. It’s California only because no basements, warm year round so no heating etc.
If they have bungalows i am interested.. also, for this time, these are to be used for as granny flats.. if you have an existing home on your property, you can put these in your back yard or somewhere on the property..
a 3d printed house's price is scaled to california's housing costs because....? If a 2bed 2bath is 250k in Cali then a Detroit price must be like $500 bucks. I'll take 2 please.
You could buy a completely finished manufactured home that’s twice the size for 1/4 the cost of the unfinished shell. These things are outrageously expensive for what they are.
Yeah, no. Way too expensive to be anywhere near economical. Maybe $100k for 350 sqft is reasonable for California, but that is absolutely insane for virtually anywhere else. No idea how that's supposed to catch on being so absurdly priced.
To everyone complaining about the sledgehammer. The hammer could weigh 20 lbs, and at the end of the handle, that makes a force of over 150 lbs on his hands. A baseball bat weighs under 2 lbs, and the weight is evenly distributed, not all at the end like that hammer.
Woah! $285,000 for 3bed, 2 bath!? How is that price affordable!? Lol! Let's go back to housing prices from the 1980s instead. Under $100,000 is affordable. Or, possibly a down payment of $5.00 like my parents neighbors did in the 80's. • What material is being used?? • Does the material become toxic once exposed to extreme weather or heat or other items? • Does the material withstand hurricanes? • Is the material biodegradable?? • How well does this material age? • Will you be using hemp concrete as a material in the near future? • If you build outside of California will your rates decrease? • Why is the price in California so expensive? Alll the middle men have been removed. For instance, a machine is building the whole foundation of the home with means all the typical workers used to frame a home are now not needed or are they still needed? Why is the price high? If we continue down this same path. People won't be able to afford a home. Then, we wonder why birth rates are declining..LOL. People will not procreate if they can't afford housing first. We have a crazy future ahead.
I could use one of these posted up in the mountains somewhere, feeding my pets and sipping freshly brewed tea as I watch the sunrise and get ready for a bike ride at 10 😌
People from Cali seem sane , until they bark crazy prices, he selling a shed the price of a house , how the CEO doesn’t get the benefits of 3D printing
I want one. I live on the east coast. I am handicapped and lives on fixed income. I need a small home that is affordable and functional. I would love to be a long term beta tester.
I wonder what the material is made out of, because it doesn't seem environmentally friendly nor very insulated in any way. Apart from that it looks amazingly promising 😍. Can't wait to see where this is going 🙌🏻
A part of me is in agreement with this comment yet slightly insulted with the exploitation portion of it. Anyhow, Mexicans are creative, resourceful and hard working.
At a higher cost than 75% of the country, they make a home in 24 hours that they then have to ship. That's not how economic viability and environmentally friendly work. I will take a pass.
NEED BETTER ACTORS, THE SLEDGEHAMMER SCENE WAS NOT CONVINCING

For half the price you can get 3,750 sq feet house fully furnished in my country and in a posh area.
What country are you from?
That’s ridiculously expensive! It can’t go mainstream except for rush projects.
Have you seen the house costs in California?
What does California have to do with the price of the module? Shouldn’t the property be the expansive part and not the building which was made in a Factory?
Taxes, wages, transportation...

I just dont understand what justifies an almost 20x cost over other 3d home printers for the same sq ft
Daniel H was thinking the same thing, surely the VASTLY reduced labour costs alone should make this so much cheaper than a regular house...
That dental material is expensive. Imagine how many tooth you make from the material of 1 house.
Theyre over charging. I saw another 3d printed home and they're cost was under 10k to build the home.

we plan to build house in Mars
This is not saving anyone any money or helping the housing crisis at that price. They are doing something wrong.
Can it handle rain over a period of time? Is it the same as bricks but just faster? I have so many questions.

boxable homes goes for 50 k . way better

I get it/see it now. Higher-class trailer parks, just minus the underpinnings to hide the wheels.
Mass produced, though.
No, this is construction material.
expensive trailer parks. they aint even cheap
Have to agree it is too expensive at this point in time.
Wouldn't even consider it until the price goes down to a third of where it's at.
Cali $115k....with panel system $285k
1:16 has to be fake, i think a rubber hammer would have looked more real.
It would have, because it is much lighter. Have you ever swung a 20 lb hammer horizontally? It looks like a baseball bat, but it weighs more than 10 baseball bats.
One can as well buy a prefab house. This house is literally a container sized house.
It's always the LAND COST and site LOCATION that is prohibitively expensive for the average consumer. Until governments make land rights a human-housing right then 3D-printed homes will be continue to be a luxury product.

California sounds like a nightmare if 350 sf is being marketing at 115k. That's absurd.
Cost might be an issue as traditional building materials are less per sq foot.
1:18 that guy hammering the synthetic stone is so fake it doesn't need you to look at it twice
That's cool, but they need to get the prices wayyy down. $150k for a "tiny home" is ridiculous.
@Samuel Yeo 36 I'd be willing to bet that's based more on the cost of the land rather than the price of your apartment.
Houses? But they are just rooms they clearly are showing being delivered to large estates. It’s California only because no basements, warm year round so no heating etc.
Can you build this in Los Angeles, Cal with permit? How much it costs to build about a 1000 sqft house?
If they have bungalows i am interested.. also, for this time, these are to be used for as granny flats.. if you have an existing home on your property, you can put these in your back yard or somewhere on the property..
Why is this so expensive tho? If its 80% machine made, the prices should be heavily reduced, no?
Anyone can build a box home like that for pennies. For $115k for a box shed is ridiculous.
1:16 is he holding back his swings ?

How much is the 3d printing machine cost
